Kallera has a model vanguard (an earlier model of it, that she later rebuilt and had modified). She and her father used to play with them when she was a child.

Do you see Eorzea becoming an unrivaled superpower in the context of the story, with the affairs of whole continents being managed by what were once considered sellswords? An enlightened society boasting the miracles of both science and magic, and the bounty of conquest? (or am I quite possibly off my rocker? something about the msq does that...)
-
I think it depends a lot on what happens in stormblood and the general state of the world. That eorzea is at war with garlemeld again is already taking a toll on Kallera. This is all of course theoretical.
-
War is often a wellspring of a lot of hate and prejudice. We might see some directed toward ala mighans and garleans depending on how Eorzea's fortunes play out.

I'm going to miss the victory fanfare. I like it even over the victory fanfare at the end of an instance.

What is "the far edge of fate" supposed to mean?
Kallera replied to Kallera's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Well, I dunno, I'm totally not sold on the interpretation, but thanks for trying though. -
What is "the far edge of fate" supposed to mean?
Kallera replied to Kallera's topic in FFXIV Discussion
...I guess that is why I'm feeling like a wet blanket over the whole Stormblood thing. I feel like our intentions don't ultimately matter, the war and animosity won't simply end when those intentions are met. -
What is "the far edge of fate" supposed to mean?

So we are not forced to do it? We could have decided not to? because I saw a lot suggesting we didn't have a choice really... -
What is "the far edge of fate" supposed to mean?
Kallera replied to Kallera's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I afraid I don't get it. I mean, does it matter at this point whether it is a lie or fate? a primal summoned by eorzeans ran rampant across their territory, and now we are choosing to invade it. I mean, every time I think about the implications I find it hard to look foward to. but I seriously don't get that phrase... -
What does the far edge of fate supposed to mean? I'm drawing a blank here as these feel like words that do not go together.

Stormblood may change the entire paradigm of RP
Kallera replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
The adventurer guild members are noting the tension in the air. Other than the obvious fears of war, might there be some unfortunate conclusions being made about either the less hawkish among us, the methods it takes to win, well as people from ilsabard and ala mihgo? -
As a pugilist, Kallera's style depends on her target. against humanoid targets Kallera is a kickboxer, with her focus on staying in her range of attack, and prioritizing speed and reach to keep the opponent on the defensive. Against more larger or hardened targets (magitek, giants) Kallera looks for spots on the target to attack, and using more punches than kicks(as the hands will likely be armed, and thus capable of more precise damage.) The type of fighter that would see shoulder tackle and fall in love with it. As a Dark Knight, Kallera is unnervingly calm, when particularly drawing from her darkside, she starts teasing and taunts like a child. Often uses a greatsword for the defense. She is stronger with the sword techniques than the magical ones, using attacks like unmend as a way to land a strong attack that would telegraphed alone. She is no stranger to a tangle or grapple, and will sometimes use them herself to set up a cheap shot.

Kallera dusted herself off once she got up. Fay sounded like that sort of person, who enjoyed her freedom outside, and a general distaste for the guards. The two had that in common. Yet the city held opportunities no one else had. "Sounds like I shouldn't be worried." Kallera said at the sassy response, she must have been at this for a while now. "I'll let Ietya know if she asks. Let's head on back." They headed out of the cave where the rope down awaited them. "You do look like you need a new hat." She said on the way.

Would Garleans use tomestones for data storage and transfer or is that still too far ahead for them? Also, would their helmets have tech or attachments added to them?

How would you feel if classes were removed from the game and the only thing players were referred to was as jobs? As in, no more pugilist or arcanists, just monk and summoner. I'm not sure what to think of it. I started the game as a pugilist in gridania way back in 1.0. While I don't play pugilist now because the content makes it necessary to be a monk, I don't think I'd appreciate it, not in some way like ilvl and stats, but I'd feel something about my character would be lost, whitewashed over and replaced with "nope! she's the warrior of light and has always been the warrior of light", as if she never existed in the seventh umbral era. What would you think if classes were removed, would it affect things for you as well?

Kallera comically flopped on the floor, arms outstretched as if she tripped on something. Dust notwithstanding she was fine. Fay had looked considerably worse for wear, though stoll in high spirits. After getting up, Kallera stammered for a response " I--um it just, you know, yeah. Do you need a disguise or something?"
-
Kallera put up her hands, saying "sure." As she was waiting, a marmot started to make its way towards the mushrooms. She picked up on its squeaking, but paid it no mind until it started rustling the mushrooms with its teeth. "Oh, Shite!" She ran after the marmot, trying to chase down the little thief. "Get back here!"

My character has a friend who got experimented on against his will by (you guessed it) Garleans. As people started discussing about how the empire has or hasn't affected their lives it got me thinking about the subject, and how recent event might make Kallera feel as she wants to fight for her friend and student. She's fought Garleans before, during the Calamity. She mainly hates the facelessness, but thet didn't kill her parents or take her stuff or anything personal in her past. When her former student got experimented on, I realized, recent events are affecting her too (jumping at evesdroppers, telling lies, conflicts among friends). This doesn't happen overnight, but how does hatred and discrimination grow in a person, and do you keep that in mind for things that happen to your characters?

"Yes, the lizard people!" Kallera said, giggling as she carried one of the filled skins, "Anyway, we should be able to go back the same way right?" The sun was still out, though it had lost much of its intensity. A play of colors danced across the clouds over head, Kallera took a look at the sight outside. "I wonder how Iteya's doing... You think she's in over her head?"
