Looking for a Paladin/Gladiator/Knight-related FC
Thunderbolt300 replied to MM2099117's topic in Chronicled Connections
Kasi can train people in the art of swordplay- both sword/shield as well as greatsword. Training is actually RP'ed out fully too and is fairly accurate to real-world technique. That said, she is a mercenary with strong connections to the criminal underground. I wouldn't call her a knight, per se. That aside... The Hydaelyn Protectors are a vigilante knight-like linkshell which is fairly active and led by Deahfel. They're based out of the Goblet in Ul'dah, so that might be pretty close to what you're looking for! I link to them belong in my signature- give them a look! -
balmung Looking for RP ~ Customers, contacts and more!

I'm Kasi, and Rhen's Spa is my favorite place in Eorzea. No, I wasn't given a discount to say that. Why're you looking at me like that? -

Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC and to FFXIV! -
Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC and to Balmung! Far be it for me to break a combo we seem to have going here... as for sky pirates, though? Most of the lore regarding them seems to focus around the raid questline. This is the introductory quest that leads into that, as part of the Heavensward content: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Sky_Pirates I'm sure someone else with a bit more knowledge about them will chime in. Far as I've seen there are multiple bands of sky pirates, though- this questline simply revolves around 2 of them. Otherwise, they do pretty much as you'd expect them to!

Need a launching point IC and OOC
Thunderbolt300 replied to ClearCubes's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! Given that Wyznwyta is interested in books and knowledge (or at least that's the impression I get), it might be worth taking a shot at one of the FC's based around that as a central theme. The two that pop to mind foremost is Azeyma's Oath (an FC based around relic hunting and research) and Guiding Light (which is a bit of a newer FC, so there are opportunities to help this one grow- and they're mostly about knowledge and research). Here are links to both of these: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=18654 http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=18228 Hope this helps! -
balmung Mafia Guild looking for connections.

Heh. Just don't mention where it came from. Don't you threaten me! I'll send you a PM here so we can iron out the details and get something set up! -
Hey there, and welcome aboard to Balmung and FFXIV! Getting into your questions... Pearl Lane is definitely the first place that springs to mind. That being said, Limsa is a close second just in general, due to the pirate roots and the rougher atmosphere. To my knowledge, the manipulation of aether is pretty open ended in the FFXIV universe. Just about everyone (except for Garleans) can use it to some extent, and with training, to a greater extent. It does appear to be a free-for-all; magical instruction isn't exactly regulated. There are certainly guilds out there that teach, but they aren't any more restrictive than the more martial professions in terms of guilds (such as the lancer's guild). Hopefully that helps. And, if you're looking for some criminal connections, I might be able to direct you a few places... In any case, once you have your character mostly sorted out, I'd suggest tossing up a Making Connections post here on the RPC to start setting roots down!

Hey there and welcome back aboard the RPC! Miqo'te master race. Grunt

Pst. Hey. Hey you. You got what I need? As I mentioned in the other thread... would be interested in meeting you at some point so Kasi can obtain some of this stuff.

balmung Mafia Guild looking for connections.
Thunderbolt300 replied to Lilira Lira's topic in Chronicled Connections
Well, the Coven isn't really a big group! We intentionally set a member population cap to prevent it from getting too big. In fact, if anything, we've shrunk our population cap over the months to keep it a tight-knit family (it is the mob, after all). Regardless, you're more than welcome to interact with our members solo! In fact, I was meaning to have Kasi come browse your potions at some point here. I had meant to do that some time ago previously- so if you got a place, I can throw her at you soon! This is kind of funny in that one of the Coven's allied FC's is doing a major expedition to Amdapor Keep that the Coven is supporting next week. They typically try to aquire relics and artifacts from the ruins- then potentially fence them to the Coven. Still, it's entirely viable and possible the Coven could try to heist a valuable object- potentially even to hand it over to said allied guild for research. How's that tickle? -
Welcome aboard to Balmung at last!

Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! Afraid I don't know much about Zodiark- most folks around here are on Balmung, so that's where most of the RP actually goes down. These days it can take a good $18 to move over, but it's definitely worth the money- especially if RP is one of the chief things you like to do, at that! There's more of it on Balmung than you'd know what to do with. Either way, best of luck!

Hey there! In addition to what C'io has said (and my obvious bias, ahem), I'd also recommend getting in touch with the Hydaelyn Protectors. They're a vigilante group and may be able to offer you some other connections via their linkshell. You'll want to get in touch with Deahfel for that- I link her post in my signature below. Pretty rad setup you've got going here- I'll be looking forward to running afoul of you with the Coven! Either way, best of luck on the hunt!

balmung Looking For Adventure, Antagonists, and Allies!
Thunderbolt300 replied to Talan Yaeger's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! I'd point you into the direction of the Hydaelyn Protectors- they're a vigilante group and linkshell that will likely give you some additional contacts that would probably mesh pretty strongly with Talan! You'll want to get in touch with Deahfel regarding this- I link to their forum post below in my signature. That said, you're also welcome to run into Kasi (and most likely you will anyway since I saw you're working with Liliro already!). Kasi is a wandering mercenary, trader, cook and occasional bartender, and while she most certainly falls into the realm of lawful evil, she can get along with just about anyone. You're welcome to read about her below in my signature and if something tickles, maybe we can set up an encounter sometime? Regardless, best of luck on your search! -
Hello! Been RPing for a while but decided to come to the forum.
Thunderbolt300 replied to EnjoyThePie's topic in Welcome Desk
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! In addition to the options Nebbs listed, you can also create a Making Connections post here on the RPC as a means of making targeted connections. I've had a fair bit of luck doing this as well- and generally, you can find connections that'll mean something pretty significant for your character, too! It helps to tell people a bit more about your character (hooks, quirks, etc.) and what you're looking for (vigilantes, criminals, knowledge, wandering, etc.). Best of luck on the hunt! -
balmung Scholar looking for RP
Thunderbolt300 replied to Ian1121520's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! I'd point you into the direction of either Guiding Light or Azeyma's Oath. Both of these FC's would cater pretty strongly to a scholar, since they deal pretty heavily with game lore, exploring ruins, and unearthing knowledge and artifacts. Guiding Light is a bit of a newer guild that's based around harnessing knowledge. It's still coming together, so there's opportunities there to help out. Oath is more established, but focuses into the niche of treasure / relic hunting rather than strictly knowledge. Both of them are pretty good groups! -
Hey there, and welcome to Balmung! I honestly don't know the specifics on how present timezone wise some of the other FC's are, but I know Azeyma's Oath has an EU presence as well as the Mischief's Coven. Both of these FC's are actually next-door-neighbors too, so there's some bleedover between them for RP, but they're both radially different concepts. The Oath is a treasure hunting and relic recovery FC, whereas the Coven is a front for organized crime (aka "the mob"). There's also the Guiding Light, which I believe also has an EU presence. Theirs is more the pursuit of knowledge across Eorzea, and is a relatively new startup (so you have some opportunities to help something grow). I might be a little biased for the Coven (*cough*), but you can't go wrong with the Oath or the Light!

Thunderbolt300 replied to NineChameleon's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hey there! Found your way here pretty fast, huh? So, for starters, there's Kasi. She's a wandering mercenary, trader, cook, and occasionally a bartender (which includes philosophy by consequence). There's a lot of different ways Miahtoux could interact with her, depending on what interests you most: hired help, drinking buddy (philosophy), a roadside encounter or even an enemy come after him for some job. She can show up just about anywhere. It's really up to you! That aside, ShroudLife might be a potential link for you too. It's a LS devoted to wilderness RP- pretty much anywhere outside of the main cities. You can wander into gatherings and camps, plus there's an event once every 2 weeks as well. You're certainly more than welcome! Both of these are linked below. Best of luck on the hunt! -
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! As was previously mentioned, being proactive certainly helps but that can be a tall order for someone who is a bit shy. Linkshells and RP FC's are going to be your mainstay for hunting down targeted, small-group RP, but you can also use the Making Connections forum to network with people here on the RPC as well! In regards to Making Connections though, it definitely helps to have a direction and purpose in mind. For example, are you looking to get into the underworld? Research? Treasure hunting? Wandering? There are so many FC's and LS' with different niches, it really helps to find a niche that you're invested into!

Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! Considering you're a bit tepid about getting deep into the community right off the bat, I'll echo the sentiment already shared: toss up a Making Connections post here on the RPC and focus on a single character starting off. With Making Connections, you can find targeted links to other characters which will give you one-on-one RP with other players and allow you to form stronger bonds in a way that PUG RP in Ul'dah won't be able to accomplish as easily. The trick with Making Connections, though, is to have an idea of what type of characters you want to target and with what character. So, for example, if you have a tribal Miqo'te, you could try looking for other tribals. If your character is a mercenary, try looking for other mercenaries. Stuff like that! Regardless, best of luck!

Why, hello! Couldn't get into Balmung so Gilgamesh
Thunderbolt300 replied to ClearCubes's topic in Welcome Desk
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! Personally, I think Balmung is worth the $18 to move over. I'm not terribly familiar with Gilgamesh, granted, but at least on Balmung, you can loiter around in Ul'dah and eavesdrop on tons of RP. It'd probably be a great help for anyone who is just starting out, and it'll be a good place to cut your teeth the first few times, too! -
Hey there and welcome aboard to the RPC! I think it's less an issue what NPC's call you, and more an issue in what you want players to call you. Generally, people aren't going to remember you easily by a nickname / true name as much as they are by the name floating above your character's head. Players you RP with more in general will probably more readily adopt the nickname / true name, though. Just something to consider!
