Hey there! I don't have much in the way of connections to easily offer here, aside from perhaps the ShroudLife linkshell. Being a bit of a wilderness survivalist, having skill with animal husbandry and tracking skills sounds like she'd be a pretty good fit for having some encounters out in the wilds if she still actively travels at all. If that sounds interesting to you at all, it'd be a good way to meet a number of characters who make livings outside of the cities, and you're welcome to it! Otherwise, best of luck on your search!

So I think for starters, the ShroudLife linkshell would probably do you some good since Theo has taken to the wanderer's life. You could find a lot of kindred spirits there- and we've even got an event going on right now in Eastern La Noscea. You're welcome to tap me in-game if you want to pop in and need the exact coordinates (we're off the beaten path). Otherwise he could certainly run into Kasi for one thing, who is also a wandering freelance mercenary, trader, cook, and on occasion, bartender. She might also be able to lend criminal connections as well, and she's a bit of a Miqo'te supremacist. All this and more is detailed in my signature below, if anything tickles!

At the end of the day? Play what makes you happy. Forget everyone else- the whole point is for you to have fun. Plus, y'know. Miqo'te master race. Ahem.

I can't offer much on your first question since everyone has hit on that already, but as for question number 2? Network network network. Be willing to approach other players OOC to decide the means of resolving an IC conflict. Criminals, underlings, and villains are very dependent on working collaboratively OOC with other players to succeed. It means a lot of effort to do well, but it's worth it for an amazing experience for everyone!

I mean, there are racial FC's (for Miqo'te, Shroudwolf Clan, for example), criminal FC's (The Mischief's Coven), treasure/relic hunters (such as the Oath above) and plenty of linkshells too (such as ShroudLife for roaming world RP, and the Hydaelyn Protectors for good-aligned vigilantes).

Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC! :thumbsup: So, right away, Kasi fits a few of the things you're looking for, since she's both a mercenary and a bodyguard. Granted, she probably fits more into the 'lawful evil' sphere, but hey, antagonism is antagonism, right? Kasi is an ex-soldier, cook, trader, and lately even a bit of a bartender as well- suffice it to say, she gets around quite a bit so it's possible to run into her just about anywhere. She could show up as a friend, rival, or even an enemy to pretty much anyone, but she has enough charm and charisma to get along with almost anyone. As far as the FC/LS goes? I might have a little bit of a bias for the Mischief's Coven, which is where Kasi bartends. The Coven Tavern is actually a front for the mob- organized crime, pretty much. If you approach the bar and order a bloody mary, this kicks off the criminal connection. The whole thing is pretty low-profile-clandestine. Notably, the Coven is more of a 'community' guild in that our goals include outreach and collaboration with the greater community to provide IC drama without the OOC drama. That'll give you some good starting points to kick off. You can also hit the Quicksand Adventurer's Guild in Ul'dah if you want some instant-action RP, though your mileage will vary quite a bit over there.

Hey there, and welcome aboard to the RPC and to FFXIV! :thumbsup: Once you have a good idea of the character you're intending to focus on, or what specific connections you'd like your character to have, toss up a Making Connections post to hit the ground running!

It'll be about as successful as you'd like it to be! :thumbsup: If you don't get enough responses or would like more, give the thread a bump or two to boil it up to the top and get some more visibility. Of course, poke around on other Making Connections posts and see if anyone else's might constitute a good connection for yourself too! As for the wiki, the best thing to do is find someone else's wiki page, copy-paste it over and then just modify the content for your character. It'll give you a nice blueprint to get started at least. You're certainly welcome to copy Kasi's if nothing else. Now, on the topic of connections... there's a few potential directions you could go here in terms of linkshells and FC's, depending on what strikes you. As far as linkshells go, there's ShroudLife which is fairly Miqo'te heavy and focuses around RP outside of the cities. It isn't central to the Shroud anymore like it implies in the name, and we tend to roam around a fair bit. It caters most strongly to wilderness-wanderer types, but mercenaries and traders can easily find some common ground here too. This really depends on how much I'ason is going to travel. There's a hunter-trader wilderness bazaar coming up in the next week too. There's also Hydaelyn Protectors, if you're looking for a non-FC vigilante group of generally good-aligned heroes that are committed to rooting out corruption and protecting the weak and innocent. I'ason doesn't really strike me as a strong knight-type though, so this one might be a bit of a stretch... but I imagine he could potentially make a halfway decent squire to another one of the stronger types in the linkshell, and would have a lot of room to grow. They're a pretty small and focused group, so I imagine you could get a pretty solid hit here. They are a community-oriented linkshell and you will find them doing a lot of outreach and collaboration for storylines. Now, as for the free companies... The most obvious one is Shroudwolf Clan, which is a Miqo'te clan and offers a lot of cultural interactions. They are primarily event-driven in the same respect as a Dungeons & Dragons session that goes down 1-3 times a week for a few hours, so it's good for anyone who is very limited on their available time to RP or wants their RP to be scheduled well in advance. The less obvious one would be Mischief's Coven, if you wanted to pitch at taking I'ason down the 'dark path.' While the Coven is a unassuming tavern on the outside where you can find a drink and some good company after a long day, it is in reality a front for what is ultimately the mob. Coming here could easily press I'ason into working for them, and he certainly wouldn't be the only one who has been coerced or conscripted into working for the Coven. The Coven is more of a community-oriented FC so you can expect to get a very strong dose of spontaneous RP that often involves working against other groups IC (such as the Hydaelyn Protectors) while we collaborate OOC to make encounters practical. Hey there! Welcome aboard/back again! :thumbsup: If you're looking for some like-minded LG folks, you might want to tap into Hydaelyn Protectors (see more information in my signature)! They're a pretty active group that's still relatively new and growing, and since it's a linkshell, you won't have to join a FC to get in on the action. More importantly, they do community interactions- I have run-ins with them occasionally myself. There's also ShroudLife which is a linkshell for arranging meetups outside of cities- wilderness survivalists, traders, that kind of thing. It's no longer quite so heavy on the Shroud aspect since we do RP out into Limsa a bit these days too. If that perks your interest at all, you're welcome to take a gander at the ShroudLife thread linked below too!

squints I'm wise to your ways, paladin. Ahem. Well, aside from the obvious connection to both criminal and tavern with the Mischief's Coven... Kasi likely isn't going to be a big client since she's more of a face-paint Keeper, but as a mercenary, trader, cook, and now bartender, she could run into Riley along the road for trade and business, just as often as she could be a drinking buddy. I'd imagine the two of them would get along pretty well with banter over a few drinks. Of course, if you meet both Kasi and Deahfel, you'll probably get caught in the middle of that conflict as an added bonus, and might even play an unwitting role!
