one other important point of note that people really need to be made more aware of. On the FATEs where you turn items in please, please do not turn things in until time is about to run out. If your party kills the (endless) mobs as they spawn you can rake in the exp by having a very high kill chain and continuing to kill the mobs. If you turn the items in early you only cut the FATE short and lose out on alot of potential exp. I said it in my first post, but I will restate it here, if you kill 10 mobs in 5 mins at 300exp a pop you get 3k exp. Now, with the fetch FATEs you can push that kill amount to maybe even 40-50 mobs in those 5 mins. that=12-15k exp in 5mins. if the FATE last 15 mins you can get 45kexp from a single FATE no including the bonus when you turn the items in at the end.

For those thinking of FATE grinding in N. Thanalan: make sure your party farms the lunatics near the Dark devices spawn point(between fates). You can average between 2-5k exp per spawn of the mobs. if you do this in between FATE you can level alot faster (did my 45-50 grind yesterday). Also, important notes, FOOD and SLEEP. when you log hit an inn, and always have some food. It may not seem like much but having that bonus to add to chain kills during fates/mob farming you can get from 50%-almost 100% bonus to you exp. and remember if the mobs durring the FATE are giving you 300exp killing 10 gets you 3k plus however much you get for gold completion of the FATE. I know mobs don't seem like a good farming source, but if you camped a high level mob(47-49) and killed 10 every 5 mins getting an average of 400exp per mob you could gain 100k in about 12mins. so in about 5hours you could go from level 45-50 off Mob farming alone.

Somtheing else to consider, Alot of the FC groups will still be working on their initial build up the FC members and get everyone to know everyone. They will also be working to work out any initial Story lines their character have the characters officially joining the FC. I suspect you will see some groups opening up for free for all RP later on when they have properly settled into their groups. Something else to consider, When running you characters personal story plot where would you turn to? The people you know and can plan for what is going to happen(at least a little) to get your character to the place you want them, or that random person over there that may or may not be supper awesome cool to RP with. The problem we have here is that, while I might recognize your RPC screen name, I have no idea what your character name is(and with SO many people on the RPC no one can expect people to read every character profile and remember the names). So best thin I can say is maybe try to look someone you want to RP with up on the forums and when you see them in game lead off with a little OOC tell saying hi I say you on the RPC forum. I bet just mentioning RPC will open a few doors.

I couldn't find a whole lot of info on the character wiki, so I'm not sure of any real specifics of plots you might be going for but if you Sig saying SMN is of any note, You should check out Mysterium(in my sig). We have fun and plenty of the RPz(and plenty of us are the quiet booky type). I think if you can provide a little better detail you might catch a few people that would be interested in plots.

So, I want to make a Musketeer when the class finally comes out. Since I've been thinking about it for a while(and cannot currently log in =( ) I made a few different options. Let me know what you think, and yes the Roe is female. I just couldn't find a male Roe option I liked for the gunner I have in mind.

Attribute points for arcanist to scholar
LeCard replied to little-patchy's topic in FFXIV Discussion
At present, the highest amount of Crit you can get to is 17% as a Scholar. As a healer, I do not feel that this is worth it to prioritize. It's just too RNG to bother with. You need Aetherflow stacks for much more important things at 50, like Lustrate and Sacred Soil. Nope. SCH is the mitigation/proactive healer that lacks burst, but makes up for it in DR CDs, situational burst (Lustrate 3x/min), mitigation and lack of mana issues. good info for after 50. I haven't seen the 45/50 skills for SCH so I have no idea how those will work yet, Though I guess needing to use the drain skill could be completely removed with a BRD in the group. But if healing doesn't have alot more MP/stronger Aetherflow I just don't see how Aetherflow alone can make for a lack of mp issues. (though I would like to know ) As for crit rate, That is the suggested extra points for SCH since PIE is pointless. Not sure what else you would use Materia for if MND is caped. of course the pointlessness of the stats other than the main stats is an entirely different discussion, sometimes I wonder why they even bothered with giving people a choice in stats at all. -
if nothing else I already want to steal that base for random character posing of figures... I'm sure the character sculpt may be difficult but you'll get it right. Having dabbled in clay I know getting things just right can be a pain, but if you manage to stick it out and keep at it things like this can look just plain amazing. so, GOOD LUCK! GANBARE!

Attribute points for arcanist to scholar
LeCard replied to little-patchy's topic in FFXIV Discussion
As a SCH player who is about to do the last push to 50 this is what I have found. 1) MND over INT( i did 50/50 but will probably by the points reset item when I can) 2) Use cleric stance for what it was intended. with all your stats in MND when you use it for solo play you have really nice DMG and a little personal healer Fairy 3) if you want SMN go for it, but only for solo/farming stuff since your int score will be alot lower. (leather/webs/fleece) the pet tanking lets you grab more mobs at once. also big note on the idea of just going it ACN, you still get a BIG stats boost from the soul stones. NEVER go it a class when you could be going it a JOB! just try this, record you stats at your base class, then equip you soul stone(any job) and record your new stats......notice a big jump? that is precisely why you should never try to Class it when you could job it. 4) CRIT rate is supper important! remember the main aspect of SCH is not curing a large amount of HP in a one shot heal, SCH is a Heal-n-shield style healer and when you crit that heal to some crazy high number you also NEGATE that crazy high number of DMG. SCH should be a boring to play healing class if your doing it right because the team will see hp bars move almost not at all. 5) Aether flow and you: The ideal use of Aether flow as I have found it is thus, Hold on activating Aether flow until your mp is down 1/4 the way. then hold off on useing the drain skill untill you are down at least another 1/4 to 50% mp. at 25% mp you should be able to use the second shot of the drain skill and follow it up with reactivating Aetherflow instantly getting you back to aprx. 79% mp. rinse and repeat from here 1 drain is at 50% second at 25% Aetherflow ASAP. Theorys) 8-16-24 man parties and SCH Here SCH will be the TANKs personal healer while the WHM is the party healer. by focusing the SCH on the tank(and the healers should they get hit) the tank can focus on pulling all the hate they want because they have that little safety bubble taking all that damage for them. This will also free up your WHM to do some DPS/buffs instead of constantly healing the tank as their hp moves like a heart monitor on a roller coaster. -
Ooh, that sounds very interesting. I wonder if you'd be amenable to sharing any preliminary works you do. In Character I don't study the crystals themselves much but I do make some cursory notes on Aether, its alterations and the natural consequences. Perhaps even an IC peer review? that might be neat to do of material put forward, an open Socratic style discussion of points maybe? just a thought. all accounts of sharing and discussion would be welcome. in fact should you provide any good sources or even just bounce ideas around enough in discussions ICly I'm sure Rogier wouldn't mind listing names of such helpful people in the credits of his works.

if you post any planned times to be logged in here said peoples with the magical invity powers can make sure they hunt you down

cool stuff. Also, I will be working on collecting info about the corrupted crystals(already found a little lore in game) and how they can be used. I will try to put together an IC book with my finding for this project.

you could do exactly what we did for the Duskwight page. There is a wiki entry that was made by one of our more proactive DW players, but it started out as just a simple Forum post Duskwight thread. We did all our behind the scenes discussions and lore checking in the thread, and from what we pieced together(and what we built up for our clans) the wiki page was made. You could do a special wiki entry titled something like "Official RPC Litureature of Hydaelyn" or something along those lines. And on that page you could list the works that have been made/found by the RPC and provide links to the original works for reading. You could even list things under headings once you got enough titles listed. (in fact if you get this up and running I would even be willing to "curate" the collect in the wiki page.) If you use the Forum thread to vet titles and help people edit their works for grammar and such, you could easily use this to help build our collection.

Not just the immediate area, good portions of Limsa/grindania and Ul'dah got hit. it's just a question of if you were under the main crap storm or just risking getting hit by the stray shots. You'll even notice a crater in Coerthas. So it was sort of a the closer you are the less chance of survival you have, but just because your all the way out in limsa doesn't mean your safe. It just meant that unless you were the poor soul with the dark cloud of bad luck you probably wouldn't get hit( but if you had the cloud....happy funeral)

you have to buy a copy, though you subscription should cover both type(I think) course don't quote me on that, I haven't tried. it.

As I understand it, the main forces made a general retreat and it was the adventures(the warriors of light Others might have a bit more detail for you, but I would surmise that if your character a part of the general military units they would have fallen back ahead of time and had a much better chance of survival than those few who remained/retreated last. (just watch the opening cut-scene you'll see where they call for the retreat =) )

After patch, configurations reset and gear sets deleted
LeCard replied to little-patchy's topic in FFXIV Discussion
did your computer instal any other updates? I've had that happen before because of an OS update that reset some of the saved program preferences. -
O.K. having taken the time(and quite happily I might add) to watch the O.P.s mentions of the new anime "log Horizon" I see exactly where they are going with this class Idea, and it would be an amazing class that I would hit up in an instant! The class as it appears in the anime: Title: Strategist (ok maybe not exactly, but that's the role) Role: pure support Skills: tactics, skills that bind the foe, Skills at add dmg from others in the party(example being the vines that when struck deal extra damage to to enemy) Skills I would recommend but haven't been in the show: regen hp/mp, some type of Libra skill(perhaps increase party crit rates? up element vulnerability based on the info obtained?) small sap style spell for direct dmg. I think this is the style of support that the O.P. had in mind. I would like to see some style of strategist class that is based around knowing the enemies weakness and useing them to the parties advantage, also I would say that they could buff the party against specific damage(facing a fire sprite? up fire element resistance, faceing sword wielders? use slash resistance) and I would say that they would fill a DPS role in smaller(4 man) dungeons and in 8-24 man their JOB could fill a healer/dps role. basically I'm looking for the description promised by SCH but was never delivered. "Though the history of that age tells of countless wars waged with earth-shattering incantations, it was the brilliant strategic maneuvering of Nym's scholars that allowed their mundane army of mariners to throw back would-be conquerers time and again."

Characters in media that influence/are similar to your character!
LeCard replied to Orlog's topic in RP Discussion
simply look to my Avatar for the picture of my latest find that is he ideal for Rogier. The strategist job from "Log Horizon" is exactly what Rogier aspires to. -
whether true or not, That was a funny read. ::claps::

I dunno about Balmung having any events, but Gilga has Feartober on the 26th. it would be cool if we could get something going for balmung, even if it is just some FC specific events instead of one big one.
