Count me in! I would say something with a carbuncle would be awesome. There is always the pic Abai drew on my Wiki, but if there is another Carbuncle or a mix of carbuncles that strike your fancy go for it. size: ? whatever yours is? also, if there are a bunch of other people in line and you want, just P.M. me with some fun tips for making sigs. (as you can see my first attempt was just tossing some text on either side of the Survival poster. I would like to do more/much better sigs in the future) Thanks! have a moogle!

for any meeting we plan I would suggest that we wait at least until the second day of EA if not until launch itself. This would give people time to finish any OOC work that didn't get done due to errors. it would also let people RP getting into town and actually meeting someone that could direct them to said meeting( I know for Rogier at least it would be very odd for him to randomly have knowledge of a DW group when he has been back in Eorzea for maybe a week). but with that said, count me in!

to go back to my original quote "unlock the latent power contained within gemstones" which to me, means that you are simply accessing the power that is already present in the gemstones. kind of like taking the potential energy of the stone and giving it a kinetic form through the geometric symbols. which would explain why a topaz stone would create a different type of carbuncle than an emerald. which is to say, you are the focus for the gemstones Aetheric power

my mage already has his class/job in Arcanist/scholar. However I would happily roll out a fighter class character if they drop some sort of gunner that blended into a machinist( would love to see some magitek combined with rifles for a sniper or something)

it sounds like the devs had originally planed for several variations of the gladiator, one of which is the shield bearing gld. But they never got around to making the extra secondary weapon slot item/ skill set and have since ditched those plans or at least concealed all traces of the option.

Not going to kill the thread because: 1:Ruby carbuncle is the original carbuncle, so even if they refuse to put him in he gets an honorable mention. 2: there is still plenty to talk about carbuncle and how it interacts with the arcanist That being said, within the actual summoning animation itself we see the use of the aforementioned crystals, so it's safe to assume even if the quests don't mention them the game still shows them being used. my hope is that, just like they wont release any more egis until the lvl cap raise maybe they are just waiting to add another carbuncle until then. Personally I would be disappointed in yoshi if they don't at least make some reference to all the ruby awesomeness of previous carbuncles. Also, great screen cap. I totally forgot that you had three gems floating around you. Still wish you could get a little more info on how the gem affects the spell and what not, but at least it is there in some way.

That's right, this is a Conversation about Ruby, Emerald, and Topaz carbuncles. Now the offical site lore says that Arcanist use their spells to unlock powers from within certain gemstones, but did anyone see a reference to this in the game? I bring this question of lore up because, if the gemstone is not required for the summoning of a carbuncle than I may have to retcon part of my characters story due to his acquiring the needed stone being an integral plot point. I got through the level 15 class quest in the beta, but I didn't notice any real reference to the stones themselves aside from the naming of the versions of carbuncle. maybe I missed this, maybe I just didn't talk to the right NPCs I don't know, but it does raise the question to me: "how important is the Gemstone in summoning a Carbuncle? Can an Arcanist perform all of their spells with nothing but a pen and a grimoire as the requirements?" Anyone else think that the Summoner book would be more appropriate for an arcanist with the Carbuncle gemstone visible? I want to hear the community's take on this, so fire away.

They don't even need to be evil, but I do agree I don't care for alts within the same storyline myself. makes too insular a story to me, kind of like playing yourself in chess, in the end you win either way and you could even force a certian side to win. think about the Triad. they would see themselves as the one that should win, but toss in another mob in another country and that mob would think of themselves as "good" too. making evil simply in the eye of the beholder. Maybe the gridania based FC(s) are simply competition and we/they are moving into the other groups turf, insert turf battle here. the battle could be physical or more along the lines of a price war, or that sort of things.

maybe not all three city states represented but but still, a "Triad" sort of deal could still work. now we just need to work on starting some branches in the un-claimed city of Gridania. maybe even a source of conflict later on, or maybe there is another company based out of Gridania that would be keeping us from being able to move into the region. just spit-balling. based on the Triad idea there is a whole mess of corporate/underworld intrigue that we could play with. added after seeing ideas from Kaln could go off of the supposed routes of the Chinese triad White Lotus Society though we could change the Lotus to a flower that is from Eorzea

added to the wiki. looks good, and it has sort of a stained glass from a distance feel (or maybe the image you get from the light shining through stained glass...)

I like the idea, though I'm not sure how saying IC fire/fira/firaga etc. would mesh with lore. While it would take some more research on the part of summoner/scholar to see the lore for their "summons" I haven't noticed the Arcanist needing a vocal component as an aspect of their magic. Their power is born out of the symbols and the mathematical manipulation of Aether. So you could potentially have a mute arcanist, maybe. (need some lore checking on that. ) Now I do include some vocal commands for Carbuncle after he is summoned, and maybe even during summoning as more of a character quick than part of his casting.
