you could do this if you truly want to. onto other matters: Regarding your current character debacle, I think that you should do what you can live with, not what everyone can wave their hand at or explain through back story. Now, if you can get past seeing the icon and don't mind being from limsa in game mechanics then story is fine, but if you will lose any ammount of enjoyment to the RP/game then maybe you should roll a fresh start from gridania and start as CNJ (move to Limsa sign on for their GC and take up arcanist, now your lined up for shcolar and would already have the lvl 15 CNJ needed.) However, remember that you will be the only person this decision affects in the end, and therfore you are the only one that has to be happy with the outcome. (maybe draw up a few story ideas, sit on them for a couple days and see what you can live with.)

Not sure about the ding option, but I know I have a few macros in mind regarding giving commands to carbuncle IC. (he has a name and everything) on another casting note, you could go with the idea that casting requires some sort of spoken aspect (with a potential exception being Arcanist) and build in a phrase you say for each spell. example: Flower, gleam and glow Let your power shine Make the clock reverse Bring back what once was mine Heal what has been hurt Change the Fates' design Save what has been lost Bring back what once was mine… (taken from Disney: Tangled) Google popped up with. @Virgil you could always make a seperate IC and OOC party hotbar. one with macros that have /say bindings and one without.

first it was our good friend 90k saying no friends/parties/etc. for you. (its like a strip club, you can see everyone else, but no touching) Now, i get 1014 and thanks to server maintenance I cannot even see the servers to know if I will be able to log back in. Here's to hoping the maintenance is a fix for both issues.

as someone who hasn't yet suffered from 3102 personally( though i cannot play with my friends anymore due to their being booted with the error): I have done significantly less "stress testing" since this error blew so far out of normal SE we have a problem and are fixing it. Realised I hadn't done any class quests, went to do that one and... oh god... it is awful... also other people I recognize from the forums getting harassed when trying to complete it! How exciting. there was someone shouting at all the arcanist to wait until the people viewing the scene where done before triggering the crates. they were knocking groups of people out of the scene. hurray for miss placed enemies with AoE attacks.

its a sea of freaking carbuncles, but they are so cute that it is hard to be mad...

I literally cannot finish the level 5 Arcanist quest right now because every time I start the next cut-scene it gets cut off in the middle due to other arcanist activating the quest (which releases an enemy with an AoE attack.) said AoE attack then counts as hitting me somehow and I am booted from the scene for being attacked. anyone else having similar quest issues?

yup, still no NA/EU servers for me (I even shut the game down completly and loged back in.)

I can log in but after about 30 sec. it says trouble with lobby and shuts down.

this looks cool, I just tried to DL from the link, but I just get a black try searching for something else page. am I missing something? I really kind of want this as a fun desktop(and to see how many times I wake up and turn on my PC and try to start playing without starting the game.)

Regarding the hearing aspect, something I have been toying with is part of Rogiers appearance, his ears. I was thinking about making him play down the better hearing aspect and having his family be slightly deficient in that area(his fathers side, passed on to him). This could be resulting in his almost Hyur looking ears. Anyone think I could get away with this lore wise? Also the LeCard family has been in very shallow caves for a long time now, more like using them as huts than something to get further down and away from the surface. (also would be playing down night vision, though an interesting idea indeed) As far as sunburn works, I suppose they could be more susceptible to sunburn, but that would be a question of how melanin affects skin tone in the different races. if it works the way it does IRL then the darker skinned DW would have more resistance to the sun, but if it works the opposite then yes DW would burn much easier.
