The difference is that Conjurer and Thaumaturge are given specific qualifications and boundaries for the weapons that they use. And Gladiators are not. Gladiators are given a blanket green light on all single handed blades. Unless they change that lore to say something more specific, it will remain true and prevent new classes from using single-handed swords. -Conjurers must use wands and staves made from unworked wood. -Thaumaturges must use scepters and staves made from metals, ores, or bone, and require a gemstone through which to channel their aether. -"Gladiators specialize in the handling of all manner of one-handed blades, from daggers to longswords, be they single- or double-edge, straight or curved." Quoted straight from the Main Site Gladiator page. You're basically asking FFXIV to retcon the basic concept of Gladiator just so that Blue Mage can have a scimitar. Why not a whip? It's a much more appropriate weapon and it doesn't currently exist in Eorzea. This does mean that any future sword wielding class would either need to be two handed or share their weapon with GLD. Now, one way that they could work this would be to have the special weapon (be it scimitar, rapier etc.) grant a special bonus/ penalty to the new class/GLD respectively. This would make it disadvantageous for a GLD to wield a scimitar, but would not prevent them from equipping it. However, you run into the further problem that the main hand weapon function as the " I am switching classes" button. To fix this you could give the new class a different main hand item that functions more like a shield and have them equip the scimitar in the off hand(effectively making them all leftys). But deciding on a main item that works for all the classes future jobs could be quite troublesome. For those reasons I think that it is highly unlikely that they would give them an already existing weapon, unless it is made into a job instead of a class. all future classes will come with a new weapon, yoshi p. has basically if not explicitly said this already. So I would have to agree with Sou on this one, either they will have to retcon GLD being able to use all one handed blades, or no other class will ever be released with a one handed blade. Edit: don't forget about the gun option for blue mages, that is still a possible route.

GOD yes. But wouldn't they then have to make Scimitars a completely separate weapon type? Kinda splitting hairs to make them different from standard one-handed swords... Hm... best bet for weapons for a blue mage would be: Scimitar, Quistis style whip, or Kimiari style lance (other variations of Blue mage seem to wield a staff or something){unless you want to go quinna style and eat the enemy} Edit: Forgot x-2 gun mage, so guns are also a possibility

Interesting... I never thought to make them perform like Quistis, that would most definitely work too. You sir have given me additional hope that my favorite class will be implemented. I have zero issues using a whip, especially if it's a bladed one. Well, I didn't mean that it was a practice employed by the garleans. Or even that we'd use their model of gunblades. Outside sources, same weaponry. But I do see your point, it could complicate things. Just me musing on the existence of a gunblade wielding class for player, not necessarily a blue mage. Perhaps, when they implent it, have the gunblade class come from a mixed class of the GLD and what ever class (likely musketeer) has guns. it would be a great blend of the two classes and if they used the GLD architecture it could simply be a set of swords only useable by that job, and the gun aspect would allow for use of the musketeers ranged shot skills. (just the musing of a mad scientist who had an interesting idea tossed before him, at least partially anyway)

Whoa whoa, some of us are just a little bit unlucky when it comes to collateral damage. I think what really counts is whether or not you intended to burn down that orphanage. and if they can prove that it was you that did it. (plausible deniablity is a wondrous tool, and few good alibi purchased in advance never hurt )

Hey wait, LeCard...you're pretty much describing Isobeau as well in your rundown of "evil mastermind" characteristics. Am I not the epitome of a pure and wholesome Duskwight visage here :lol: ?!? hmmm. didn't think about that, but I guess that proves it is the pure white hair that gives him the evil mastermind vibe that I am getting. (wait does pure hair equaling evil imply something about me?) Sorry, but I just can't bring myself to look at Isobeau and see evil...how that hair color change makes that much difference in my mind I don't know.(is my brain broken?)

With your permission I would like to link Lecard Father's clan to the Desfosse. I was wandering the wiki and looking at this forum when I stumbled back across your clan description, which is exactly the same description I had come up for his father's clan. I am thinking they could be a branch that split off or something, let me know what you think. on another note, looking over all the wiki stuff and DW info, I was wondering if there is a way to add a link to the "Known Duskwight Clans" wiki page on the main Duskwight Elezenpage. Just an idea to make it easier to stumble onto.

I'd give it about a 6. I really like the first name, but the surname is a bit of a mouthful, almost on purpose (from what I can tell anyway). And something about using "wyn" in names always irks me. My character's name is Beatric Reid. Come at me, yo. I would give it a five. It feels like a race lore based name, but it isn't(for the first name). While the second name is much easier to say than one built from lore, it does deviate from the lore. Over all I like the sound of the name, but it does lack any real attachment to lore (at least that I could find, feel free to prove me wrong, i would love that, really). (if I missed a link to lore then I would have to rate it more like a 7) Edit: I was beaten to the punch so, Shizu! Your name looks perfectly fit to the lore. though I would have to give it more of an 8 because the W causes the first name to stumble off the tongue rather than flow. Although that could be seen as a good thing, since other races are meant to have a hard time pronouncing Miqo'te words/names. (also the last name may be one sylable too long for a Male miqo name (the name of the one who sired her) but it still sounds good) My character is: Rogier LeCard (Róg-ï-ér Lè-cärd) What do you think?

I have been thinking about my characters parents and their back story (actually did a big update for Rogier's wiki on that topic recently), and I have detrmined that i will be creating a clan for his father to have come from, but for his mother I kind of want her to come from an already establish black shroud clan. Though I am not sure what clan she will be in yet, suppose that info will remain a ??? for now. If anyone has an idea for me for a clan that she could have been from please give me a shout. Also I will be posting his father's clan on the wiki with more details when I finish working it out.

Welcome to the RPC! if you really like to write then you found the right place. Plenty of the members here have long well thought out(and written out) stories for their characters. We even have lore threads for probably almost everything, and should we have missed something just start up the thread and people will jump in excitedly. again, welcome and I hope you find a nice place to call home here.

Rogier is kind of a tweak off of Jade Curtis from Tales of The Abyss (aka the Necromancer) I took the idea of a researcher who doesn't really care what anyone thinks of as long as he is able to complete his research. which in Jades case earned him the title Necromancer, though Rogier hasn't done anything to earn such a title( least wise not yet). Other than that I am not sure of any characters that Rogier is related too. Jade Curtiss

I caught the last little bit of your live stream while I was cooking dinner last night. it was amazing watching how fast you could color those and make them look so good. Give me a heads up when your planing to color in Rogier, I definitely want to be there for that.

It is more than I could ask! the line art itself is awsome(is tempted to print and color in with pencil) coloring is a very relaxing activity, I can see why you like doing it so much. Rogier spends most of his time locked up inside the place he has called home since childhood, surrounded by books on magic and his own research. Occasionally, but rarely, food can be found in the home though it is frequently ignored. He will typically lay his had on whatever surface is in front of him when he passes out after one of his insomnia driven research bouts. The walls are often covered in dust making it obvious what materials are part of his current research gems and his Grimoire can always be found It is said that no one else ever enters the home He is most often found wandering the various markets in search of food and research materials.

Funny thing is I didn't major to be a Librarian, it's something that simply happened. I'm still aiming to be at least an adjunct professor when the time comes. I've been teaching here and there, but my ultimate goal is to be a language researcher. Tough times indeed~ sounds fun, there are so many languages I would love to learn so I can understand the attraction. Though I don't think that I could ever be good enough with them to teach them on the scale of a professor. good luck in your endeavor to become a professor and researcher of language. People like me need good language teachers so we can satisfy our desire to learn other languages.
