Maybe it's the beard, maybe it's the hairstyle I'm not sure. However I do know that I like the way the Miqo'te looks more than the Hyur. The Miqo just looks a litle more ruff around the edges to me, I think. It could also be that the hyur's eyes just don't fit color wise to me. ( I don't know what it is, but something about his face just strikes my eyes the wrong way.)

I was new to 14 as well. I started at some point durring beta phase two, mostly just messed around and got a feel for the game. It wasn't untill phase three that I really started thinking about RPing and it was some time during that when I found the RPC in a link in a signature of someone on the beta forums. now that the long winded part is over, I have really come along way with Rogier's story in a relatively short time, and I have to give alot of thanks for that growth to the helpful people I found here at the RPC. So, while it may look like you have a long way to go, I am sure that if you open up and share your ideas here that you will find enough sparks to light those ideas into a real blaze of inspiration for a fun RPing character(both for you to play and for all of us to interact with.) {my that was longer than I expected...} anymoogle, have fun!

Yay more Abai art! also, you can draw Rogier anytime of course, only if you realy want to/don't have anyone else(not that that would ever occure...maybe i should strike that)

I am glad that you could find a solution that made you happy. after all, it is only the person who has to play them that needs to be happy with the character in the end. I am also glad that you were able to use others comments to see where you were just trying to fill what the "character should be" instead of having a character that suited you. Nostalgia is a great thing, and can definitely make playing a character just that much more fun. I wish you good luck with their story creation (my P.M. box is always open if you ever need and extra set of eyes to bounce ideas off). Find something you will have fun playing and then enjoying the game.

You do not have to run. I tested this out in phase three. just use the return spell(assuming you touched your starting cities Aetherite crystal.) and if you touch the Aetherite crystal in (for an example say you start in Limsa and run to Ul'dah) Ul'dah you can freely transport (well not free, it cost gil each trip) between the two cities to your hearts content(or your last gil, whichever comes first) Edit: don't want to sound like I am only here to critique. Other than that one point Everything you said was a very nice description of how the system works.

There's a ferry that will take you from Limsa Lominsa to Ul'dah, more or less, but in P3 it had an obscene price (something like 50k gil). The devs confirmed that was a bug, so it should be a more viable option in P4 and launch. That's good to know. I remember trying to use it once and it just turned me around. I figured it wasn't open/ was connected to a quest. So at least you can physically walk somewhere. Just no fast trips unless you finish the lvl 15 quest or remember to touch the Aetherite crystal after you run to the city for the first time.

You can change class (take up any disciple of the hand/land/magic/war) after the level 10 class quest. (unless they upped the requirement since Phase three beta) The level 15 class quest unlocks the airship travel to other city states. (though you can run between Gridania and Ul'dah before that, I don't think you can get to/leave Limsa before the level 15 quest. correct me if I am wrong)

* edit: I was beaten to the punch while typing. Touche Moltove Touche So just going to throw in a basic list of class=job and what type of combatant that class/job is. Disciple of war (melee) Gladiator > Paladin = tank (some healing as paladin) Pugilist > Monk = Close range DPS Marauder > Warrior = tank/ off tank DPS Lancer > Dragoon = DPS Archer > Bard = Ranged DPS (bard has buffing) Disciple of Magic (mage) Conjurer > White mage = Healer (some damage) Thamaturge > Black Mage = Ranged DPS with AoE Arcanist > Summoner = DoT with pet off tank(other option possible)* Arcanist > Scholar = HoT with pet (possible AoE healing potential for some DoT and others)* *Speculation based on what little SE has given us Tank= living meat shield to take the damage for the party DPS= damage the enemy as much as possible as fast a possible AoE= Area of effect DoT= Deals the damage over a length of time instead of all at once(typically stackable effects) HoT= same as above but healing/ buffing

Awesome work here. it look really cool and well thought out. Also, I posted a Charater creation built picture of Talmont(Le'cards father) on Rogier's wikki if/when you want to add it. otherwise

of note, My Razer death adder has begun having this issue as well. Perhaps it is the latest batch of Synapse updates that caused this?

If you are ever unsure about posting in a topic, just send a P.M. to who ever made the first post in the thread. They will be able to tell you if the thread is open or not. For the most part I would say it is easy enough to figure out which ones are open to everyone and which ones aren't, but if there is ever a question it is usually best to err on the safe side. At worst, you get told that the thread is for a specific group.(they will probably direct you to something similar that is open if you ask (free pie never hurt though) At, best they will actively invite you to join in the fun! Either way, welcome to the RPC if you have any questions My inbox is always open.

Though they didn't start in Limsa the Voleur clan now calls The La Nocea region home.

Sounds good. I personally use Tiger because they have a physical store practically next door to me. Though I still look around for the best price(if it is low enough I might be able to wait for shipping, but if I need it now tiger usually has a good price, at least at my store) good thing to know about the amount of ram a game normally would use. Thanks for all the help. I sadly got way out of date on this info during my last four year of B.A. degree and need to get caught up on alot of stuff at one time.

Thanks for the MSI, I think that answered my question. My CPU was running at 50% and my GPU was slamming 98%+ the entire time the benchmark was running. I suppose that is an easy view of where my bottleneck is. I may wait till I can afford a gen4 intell chip (which would include a MoBo upgrade being needed) for the processor.) Right now I am scoring 4k on the benchmark(with everything running in the background at that.(at max settings) One thing to note is that while everyone who is into benchmarking is running at "maximum" pre-sets, that doesn't mean we'll all be playing at maximum presets. For example, I'll turn on Occlusion Culling and disable FXAA (FXAA mainly for taste, I hate it's blur behavior), as well as turning on LOD (because it's far enough to not be an issue) to also boost performance a little. hmm, good point. i am mostly doing the upgrade becuase I want too and not becuase i feel it needs it. I have been playing the beta with no problems(my room mate was even on his ps3 playing and I continually had to wait for him with load times, so it certainly isn't a need). but onto the fun topic. I think this is about where I am looking at for a new card. Card Link let me know if you think this would give me the boost I am looking at or if I am over estimating the card and there is something better (for apprx. the same price)

This is my current rig: System: Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.130531-1504) Intel® Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz 8153.059MB (RAM) NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 (VRAM 4042 MB) 9.18.0013.1106 I am looking to upgrade both the graphics card and the processor, but with limited funds I will need to prioritize them. Which do you think would upgrade my performance more? I think it would be the processor, but I want some other voices bouncing around in my head(it gets lonely in here). Has anyone done a similar upgrade recently? if so please let me know what you noticed. (also I would like to avoid the very expensive graphics cards, yes they are amazing but so is the heart attack I would have when my bank account slaps me for spending that much.)

That's one more clan for Blamung. Clan Voleur. Also, I would like to advertise here that Rogier's mother needs a clan. Here is what I would need as a minimum for her to be in the clan. Near Gridania peaceful hunter/gatherer type clan not known to have healing magic (relies on potions/medicine)
-
@ Kevran: It is possible your character may have heard of the odd Duskwight that lives outside limsa and conducts many experiments(Rogier). Anyone else feel like this thread has been hijacked by the Limsa/Mage crowd? (not that that is a bad thing.)
-
As I plan on playing mostly as an Arcanist, I can get behind this idea. I would sign up for this, though there might be ulterior motives for Rogier(though I suspect that could be said for most who would join such a "research" group) in fact I am rather surprised such does not already exist. I guess they will have to bump into each other as he returns from his research in the south. He is known to (if the game mechanic allow) have his Carbuncle at his side at (or nearly so) all times, so spotting him as an Arcanist wouldn't be difficult. also, he is likely to be looking at books/research material anytime he is seen.

I am trying to get a start on a Character journal and I was looking around the dates and all(maybe I just missed it) but do we have any Idea what month the Battle of Carnenaue took place in? at the very least a month that is safely before(or just after) the event? I want to be able to include dates as the heading of each entry, but I want to include months and days, not just the year. would there be a safe date to work from as prior to the fall?
-
Looking over all the replies here, i supposed I should drop this here. @Flamel: Rogier spent the missing five year in the southern seas, so maybe we could work something out where he used your services in some way during that time. @Freelancewizard: Rogier is an Arcanist researcher who dabbles in alchemy should you ever want to talk shop with him, or some such interaction. The above goes for anyone else that may want to stop rogier and talk to him. @ashren: you could perhaps persuade rogier to do some research for you, though he may be more interested in your Aether subjects of research. that is a large focus of his own research. on other notes, Rogier can be found wandering Limsa for research supplies and a good meal.(and to a lesser extent the market stalls of the other nations)

Been playing with an alt idea. Female Lancer, I think I have settled on Highlander and these are the too variants I am debating over. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/216/e/1/compare_by_mitsuhideakechi0-d6gmyn1.jpg[/img] also considered a Miqo, but I am not sure if I like the way she would stand(for a lancer) but here is the shot from the creation http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/216/6/d/miqo_by_mitsuhideakechi0-d6gn05q.jpg[/img] Umm, let me know what you think.

I second this! "Fear me I am a Gladiator/Paladin and I will smite you with this letter opener sized dagger!" Somehow I just want to break down laughing and lose all respect for the class.

Welcome to the fun! aka the RPC. Since you already have a name and race, lets see some character back ground, I am sure everyone is dieing to get the scoop on the new Roe in town. (they might also be persuaded to help you with developing the character/ character wiki, i hear free pie works great). If you have any question feel free to ask, start a thread, post in an existing one, or even shoot someone a P.M. I doubt anyone would mind too much. Anymoogle, welcome to the RPC! hope to see you in game
