My accessories felt like they needed an upgrade. Ended up farming a whole dungeon set. Decided to play around with colors/lighting because said set had really nice colors.

I regularly compare my characters to video game and anime characters because it's a good way to both find things to avoid and to find things that work. Disney was honestly something I didn't think of. So when I thought about it.... Overprotective father? Loves exploring and learning new things? Has her "head in the clouds" a lot? Hangs around with non-human friends as much as human ones? Actually has musical training as opposed to breaking into song with little explanation? As much as I wanted to avoid it due to my forum name I guess Tsubaki's kind of like Ariel. Oops.

It honestly feels like Jenova's RP scene has died down significantly. I'm not actively involved in it though so someone who is please feel free to correct me. There used to be two big linkshells and I know the person who spear headed one of them, as well as a sizeable RP FC, stepped away from the game several months ago. I used to occasionally see snippets of RP in the open world or RP tags but lately I haven't. That could be attributed to people getting swept up in Stormblood though. I still hear mention of a big RP known as "REC U". I'm afraid that's the only name I have for you. I know nothing about the FC or what kind of RP they offer so maybe see if they have a website or something? If all else fails and Jenova RP isn't for you then I hear Mateus is the new RP server.

Today was stressful. Tried writing and while it was good to get out of my head and into my character's I ultimately scrapped the whole thing because I'm my own worst critic. Back to taking less serious screenshots! I figured out which gpose option was making the background blurry! Also, why can't we have bare feet? Why do we have to have sandals? I highly doubt anyone will get my little lizard to actually do that but she's kinda cute, if I do say so myself.

And since I have trouble quoting two people in one post... I'm pretty sure RPers still attend events when they're in a long term plot. Consider the fact that not everything you're doing has to be happening sequentially. You could've attended that event before, after, or during a break in your plot. You can put the event where you want it in your timeline though it could become a problem if you compare your timeline to others involved or if there was a development as a result of your plot. But that's assuming you're keeping everything canon and not relying too heavily on time bubbles.

I agree with the sentiment that some of that line of discussion was related to the topic as a whole but some of what was deleted had devolved into political insults. I genuinely thought the thread might get locked after I read it.

I always thought that was a solar eclipse but now that you point it out it looks like the sky might be too dark? The heck is going on in the Bowl of Embers? I blame primal nonsense.

Ack, the quality of the screenshots seemed to drop again. Seeing that pixel-y artifacting like stuff on my character again. I had to wait a full in game day for this. I got there about the right time but the weather was terrible so I had to wait for the time to roll around again. I also had to turn gpose off for this one because it was blurring the background and I wasn't sure how to make it stop doing that. Not sure which angle I like better so have both. This is another one that has a story though it's probably better to have her tell it than it would be for me to try writing it up. She will have a reaction to this memory.

Update 8/14/17 Important update about my current in game availability.

I wanted to avoid Aetheryte travel but then I heard the other continent could only be reached by a two month boat trip. I just can't fathom a two month trip every single time. 3 round trips means your character should've aged a year. I still want there to be some penalty though. I personally plan on having my character get sick af whenever she Teleports that far. I'm talking headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, etc for a day or two. She'll hide in an inn room and look like a train wreck if anyone manages to find her there. So if she's jumping between continents she either has a good enough reason or she has a job lined up to cover the cost of both Aetheryte travel and being out of work for a day or two. Trips around Eorzea would still be chocobo and airship rides unless there's a reason for urgency. Also, to echo other people here forum/skype/discord/pm/whatever RP can really help. As someone who experiences the struggle of getting several people to actually get together for several hours at a time scheduling. is. hard. If you're only managing to get together for a couple hours a day once a week it'll be about the same as getting out a couple posts a day. The previously mentioned options offer so much flexibility and often they're the only type of RP I can manage to do.

Ugh, not pleased with the quality of this one. I am pleased with the fact I have a short story for it. Debating making an IC journal for that stuff but I'm waaay too insecure about the quality of my writing to share that.

Whoa. Nuh-uh. My chocobo is the prettiest and nobody is convincing me to change her. Even if you were onto something there I have a lot of Sephirot related rage. PUGs are colorblind. I played a match on a certain Blizzard game while waiting for day to get the above screenshot, waited a couple minutes for bad weather to change, then realized after uploading it that I forgot to put my graphics on max before taking it. Needless to say I said screw it and left it as is. I'm simultaneously loving and hating it saving actions. It's great when you want it but if you didn't want an action and just summoned your chocobo you gotta freeze it at just the right time.

Thinking of taking a screenshot a day in an effort to improve. This time something more IC. Ugh, I'm starting to hate how this hairstyle looks in screenshots but she kinda has IC reasons for it. Also, anyone else wishing there was a Chocobo barding that was just really simple stuff like saddle bags?

Oh, I know. I was getting like...little bits of pixelation or artifacting around the edges of my character? Not sure how to describe it. Bumping my settings up to max temporarily seems to have fixed it a bit.

I had a feeling that would be a rule again and thought someone should warn people. Was too lazy to dig through the rules though so I'm glad someone beat me to it.

Had a terrible day yesterday and still feeling terrible. Trying to calm myself down by setting up serene screenshots. Not sure if I've finally found the trick to getting a decent quality screenshot yet though.

Sidurgu did it pretty well but then Sidurgu also has the mentor aspect you mention. I don't think trying to tie a Xaela to Ishgard is a problem I think OP is trying to tie his character to many locations/jobs/etc. Like Sounsyy pointed out the timeline seems a little wonky and the locations don't all add up.

To put it simply, those who are 'blending' are having difficulty separating IC from OOC. Their character is getting close to your character? They think they're getting close to you. Their character falls in love with yours? They think they're in love with you.

Yeah, it's a really weird hang up. I'm sure something like OCD is to blame. And, yeah, I think making a pansexual character was a really good first step. It's an exercise in removing gender and trying to think about what other characteristics the character would be interested in.

This is pretty much my reasoning minus the SO and with the opposite gender. I can't really get into sexualities other than my own (straight from a female POV). One of the most awkward things I've ever had to deal with was another girl trying to hook up with me after I was nice to her and helped her out in a game (Ragnarok Online for those wondering). It was really difficult to deal with especially when she wouldn't relent and went with the whole "can't you at least try it?" thing. Every time I think of playing a male character or f/f relationship I'm reminded of how I felt in that situation. I have no problem with using characters outside my sexuality or gender as NPCs/background characters/one offs/etc (assuming I ever bother with that sort of thing). I'm also trying to branch out a little in that I made a pansexual female character for a tabletop RPG. It was a pretty safe choice though considering none of the players in the game likely want to romance that character. Anything I do with it will probably be backstory/epilogue/side story stuff.

I was so intent on posting so I could find this thread again that I forgot the rest of what I wanted to say. :dazed: As others have said, a lot of people are prioritizing content right now and aren't RPing as much. I personally have a character for content where I'm trying to figure out which healer I want to main, am helping friends level, clear, get parses, etc, and to top it all off I still need to level my gathering/crafting. But anyways what I'm trying to get at here is maybe it'd help to make a thread over in Making Connections? That way you can find people who want to role play and hopefully avoid those bad experiences until things pick up again. Barring that if you're super desperate and willing put up with Discord/Skype or even PMs I have very little going on RP-wise and would be happy to oblige. Best of luck finding RP again. :thumbsup:

Until I make a proper wiki I'm going to leave some character info here. Tsubaki Yuzuka Tsubaki Yuzuka is a Raen Au Ra, in her mid twenties, born and raised in Gridania. Her family finally settled down there after fleeing Othard when the Garleans started causing problems some 25 years ago. Her father's archery and mother's leatherworking eventually earned them their place but though Tsubaki learned the bow she found her true passion in stories. She joined the ranks of the bards but despite being a good musician she began to feel she needed to experience more of the world she'd only heard of. To this end she's become an adventurer intent on seeing the world. Tsubaki appears shy and soft spoken but this demeanor hides someone fascinated with the world and it's people. Spend a few minutes talking to her and you'll find an eager learner or maybe even get her rambling about a particularly interesting subject. NOTE Tsubaki has the echo though the only part that seems to have manifested is the ability to understand other languages. This aspect is purely to overcome language barriers and conflicting head canons. In most cases, it won't even come up in RP. If you do want it to come up, let me know.

I like doing more than just sitting in taverns and talking all the time but I'm up for most things. Anything from light hearted to more heavy and serious is fine as long as I get some variety. Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm not too great at combat but I'm always up to try stuff! I'm fine with injuries but please discuss it first. Views on IC romance: Sure! Romance is fun! Just let there be some meaningful build up to it. I have no problem with mature themes but ERP is a no go. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I've had some bad experiences in the past when it comes to role playing characters with past connections so please don't ask to role playing my character's close family members. If you want to be my character's distant cousin they've never met I'm not against it but please discuss this first. Views on lore: I like lore but I don't have the lore book and there's only so many resources. Sometimes you mess something up and it's too late to change it. Otherwise, I try to stay lore accurate with some bending and expect the same of others. If you want to do something particularly lore breaking I think it could a lot of fun but I'd like it to be some sort of AU or spin off. As always just discuss it with me first. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'm kind of shy when it comes to publicly RPing in /say so I avoid it when possible.
