Claihn Posted October 10, 2017 Share #26 Posted October 10, 2017 Quote Aw, I feel you on that one. I didn't have any hormones or anything during the Ward expansion patch, but I definitely felt drained and unhappy and unwilling to really do anything with the game when lobby errors and queues kept me out of the running. Like, not even getting a chance to try before it was all already over is a terrible feeling. My condolences and I hope you and yours ultimately find a place to call home. Yea, even running around and having a chance would have been nicer than the lobby boss you can't control. My condolences to you too and who knows. Maybe in the future something will work out for either of us. I'm happy at least for the FCs that managed to get lucky and their potential new RP locales that will follow. Link to comment

Mermaid Posted October 10, 2017 Share #28 Posted October 10, 2017 I had to fight for an upgrade to my FC's estate on my main (which luckily isn't on Balmung). All the larges were gone by the time I got through the queue. Managed to snag the first decently placed medium I saw. An upgrade's an upgrade and we didn't need that much room anyways. Oroban Posted October 11, 2017 Share #30 Posted October 11, 2017 Still no house since 1.0, but hey, there's always next time. (And the significantly more far fetched hope that SE will fix their stuff.) My launcher froze up and had to be force closed twice before I could even get into queue because it got hammed so hard right at 5:59. I'm mildly salty but low expectations kept me from getting really upset. Congrats to everyone who got one, and for the rest of us, good luck next time! Link to comment
Charce Posted October 11, 2017 Share #31 Posted October 11, 2017 I got my medium house at 206 in queue on a PS4. It really is all about luck (though I heard some PC people were using log in scripts?) >.< I gave my alt's FC mansion away to my FC since they didn't get their house, so it all worked out. Honestly, the more I think about it I'm not sure what SE can do. I held on to a mansion because I couldn't sell it back to the server and didn't want to sell it to a player and risk getting in trouble (Plus I didn't care for the gil). They have a system that's like...once you have it, you have it. The timers are down too. But they can't just take everyone's housing away either. I don't think it's really about SE ignoring people. At this point in the game, I think there's little they can do except maybe change the way housing can be relinquished and limiting how many one person can have. Hopefully next time will be your chance! Also, just a note...when the timer goes back up, wait 45 days and see what happens. Last time they shut the timer down and it went back up, a bunch of houses were freed up. So that will be another chance. Link to comment
Nebbs Posted October 11, 2017 Share #32 Posted October 11, 2017 SE could do something, but they won't, except simply extending the problem. At this stage I don't think you can blame those grabbing housing as the system is working as intended. The problem lies in that intention. Best to just ignore housing as there is only pain and disappointment there, and enjoy the rest of the game as there are some nice parts to it Link to comment
Silmanos Posted October 11, 2017 Share #33 Posted October 11, 2017 There was apparently a GM post on the French forums in response to a petition they started there. According to the post they are passing all the threads onto Yoshi with the highest priority and ask a bit of patience so they can give an official response with more details. Link to comment

Silmanos Posted October 11, 2017 Share #35 Posted October 11, 2017 Meanwhile on the Japanese Data Center there is a player selling plots for real money. He's selling a small for something like $500-$600. Link to comment
Aya Posted October 11, 2017 Share #36 Posted October 11, 2017 Love goes out to all of you frustrated and upset! I hope they're able to find a solution to the lack of housing in general on these servers. I wish I could be more helpful than that...! Link to comment
Nero Posted October 12, 2017 Share #37 Posted October 12, 2017 At the very least, the outcry of having every house on almost every semi-populated server (although I think even the low-pop ones had a lot sold out) hopefully compels them to change the housing system to something more substantial. Since they don't have the server space for infinite wards, they really should just change to an instanced system. Link to comment
Kilieit Posted October 12, 2017 Share #38 Posted October 12, 2017 For the curious, and since I saw someone in Balmung's Novice Network claiming that Shirogane apartments sold out inside of 30 minutes (they didn't - I logged on about 5 hours later and got Kobai Goten #30 no problem), here are the Kobai Goten buildings with apartments remaining: BALMUNG Kobai Goten (Shirogane) availability 12-10-17 04:00 BST (Reveal hidden contents) 1M - Full 1S - Full 2M - Full 2S - 33 apartments free 3M - Full 3S - 50 apartments free 4M - Full 4S - 44 apartments free 5M - Full 5S - 42 apartments free 6M - Full 6S - 45 apartments free 7M - Full 7S - Full 8M - Full 8S - Full 9M - Full 9S - Full 10M - Full 10S - Full 11M - Full 11S - 1 apartment free 12M - Full 12S - Full Total Shirogane apartments free: 215 If I hate myself I'll go over the other areas in a bit. Teadrinker Posted October 12, 2017 Share #41 Posted October 12, 2017 We can't see the server architecture obviously but I'm convinced without some sort of massive hardware addition they're going to have problems and players will want for space or get gated behind error messages. I was getting the zoning error message today trying to get into a house. However SE has all this configured (and believe me, I don't know) it obviously can only handle SO many instanced spaces. See: Unable to load into houses/apts, Raubahn Savage, etc. I agree adding instanced housing is likely the only solution. It pains me that not everyone will have access to the outside of the houses and how beautiful the wards can be but unless they want to bleed money in server resources this is likely the ONLY solution. Either way, they're looking at dumping some serious money into additional resources to begin with since loading into instances is already an issue. Just slapping up more wards is like putting a strip of gauze on a gushing wound. At this point it's not a fix as much as it is adding frustration to the players. The entirety of the system needs an overhaul because, as is, it's destroying the community Yoshi said he wanted servers to have. Link to comment

The entirety of the system needs an overhaul because, as is, it's destroying the community Yoshi said he wanted servers to have. A lot of their solutions to things amount to applying band aids to leaks until too much water has flooded out and they have to actually fix it. I think this particular band aid might appease smaller servers, who by then will probably have seen some houses being sold by players or reclaimed, but Balmung and other high pop servers are just going to see another blood bath. If their servers are as bad as they seem to be they're going to run out of band aids for the housing problem soon. Link to comment
Kieran Posted October 12, 2017 Share #43 Posted October 12, 2017 I didn't even try to get a house on Balmung as I didn't want to give up my apartment and end up with nothing. On Mateus however, I was able to snag a medium plot, was number 39 in that queue. Large and Medium houses went as fast there as I'm hearing they did here. This took my FC by surprise because we had hoped Mateus would be a bit slower in the land grab and we'd be able to get a large FC house. Housing is something I have wanted for years as well and just had to settle with an apartment. Even got the plot I wanted which makes it all the sweeter. 8-) Link to comment

You wouldn't have had to give up your apartment. You can have an apartment, a house, and private chambers at a FC all at the same time Quote On Mateus however, I was able to snag a medium plot, was number 39 in that queue. This is what I was hoping for on Jenova, where I play with my friends, and we had the same problem. It's easily smaller than Mateus with all the RPers going there now. I was like 400 in queue or something though so who knows how fast those larges actually went. Link to comment
Zhavi Posted October 12, 2017 Author Share #45 Posted October 12, 2017 Heh heh, I still am betting I won't get one, but the effort is appreciated. I'm more interested in seeing how they choose to 'fix' the issue -- most notably, whether or not they'll restrict how many houses people can own, or what they'll do to lessen the impact of scalpers. Link to comment
Silmanos Posted October 12, 2017 Share #46 Posted October 12, 2017 Honestly the first thing they should do to not only fix the scalpers but also those who hoard housing is to limit housing to 1 personal and 1 FC estate per service account per server. The fact that someone on Balmung owns 18 houses is a bit disgusting and part of the problem. I'm ashamed so say I personally know people who have 3-4 houses at their disposal. Even worse is all but one of these pretty much sits completely unused and yet they hold onto it despite FCs needing houses, or people simply just wanting a chance at having one. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we all don't know of at least one person like that. These people are a part of the problem and SE needs to step in and fix that so long as they decide to continue with the neighborhood set up. ((Don't get me started on when said people get upset that they couldn't get a Shirogane house on top of all that)) If they fix that along with adding more wards it will go a long way towards helping the situation itself. What's more in addition to more wards they need to make Apartments more appealing. Despite what the official forums are saying about apartments being sold out just as quickly as housing, we clearly know that is a lie since at least as of yesterday there were 200+ apartments free on the most crowded server of all thanks to Kilieit's dedication in checking those out for us. If they made them larger than a FC room and closer in size to a small that would help immensely, not to mention if they added a method for apartment owners to crossbreed plants for gardening. 1 Link to comment

Going to have to agree with this. While Mateus isn't huge by any means; the housing was sold out I heard in about 20-30 minutes at most? (It might have been shorter). But when I got home after 7pm on patch day I was able to get an apartment on the first ward in Shiro no problems what so ever in the main district. And yes, I also agree that it should be per account at this point just let the characters share it. On Mateus two players own like 28 houses between the pair of them in one district it caused a lot of debate there's a few articles on it. Link to comment

Nero Posted October 13, 2017 Share #49 Posted October 13, 2017 In case anyone was concerned, apartments in Shirogane are now sold out on Balmung. I found the arguments of "Wards and housing community are important" to be rather ridiculous considering that wards and the lack of instanced housing is why most people don't have houses. Such a limitation would be barely acceptable in a free-to-play game, much less a subscription game where everyone pays the same sub and yet doesn't have access to the same content. Link to comment
