I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to use this, but I really want to!

I’m just the boy inside the man,

Not exactly who you think I am,

Trying to trace my steps back here again

So many times...

I’m just a speck inside your hand.

You came and made me who I am.

I remember where it all began,

So clearly...

I feel a million miles away,

Still you connect me in your way,

And you create in me something

I would’ve never seen.

When I could only see the floor,

You made my window a door.

So when they say they don’t believe,

I hope that they see you in me.

After all the lights go down,

I’m just the words, you are the sound.

A strange type of chemistry,

How you’ve become a part of me.

And when I sit alone at night,

Your thoughts burn through me like a fire.

You’re the only one who knows

Who I really am.

We all wanna be somebody,

We just need a taste of who we are.

We all wanna be somebody,

We’re willing to go, but not that far.

And we’re all see through, just like glass,

And we can shatter just as fast.

That light’s been burned out for a while,

I still see it every time I pass.

It was lost in the corners of my mind,

Behind a box of reasons why.

I never doubted it was there,

It just took a little time to find.

And even when...

I feel a million miles away,

Still you connect me in your way.

And you create in me something

I would’ve never seen.

When I could only see the floor,

You made my window a door.

So when they say they don’t believe,

I hope that they see you in me.

Figured I would pop in. I am not one for character theme songs as I am not exactly -good- at deciding these things (as you will likely tell from my choices! Haha... Ha).

So, to start with, Belmont's theme tune. This is pretty much the instrumental backing to one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite artists. It is also not, strictly, a "theme tune" but rather what I imagine playing in some of the fast-paced combat sequences I have written in to Mister Corwell's storyline. So, uh... Yeah! *Throws video*

Now, Asgarn has a couple.

One for when he gets his charm on... Could it be any other? ;)

(Oh my... *Loosens collar* A bit hot in here.)

Now, for his main theme, so to speak. This speaks for his character on an emotional level. As not many think that under Asgarn's relatively charismatic and bravado-stoked exterior, he has thoughts he does not show. The title of the track "Face It Later" is precisely what he is doing in terms of confronting his greatest fear. Oh yeah, HE HAS LAYERS!:

Lastly, whenever one of my characters has an emotional moment, I like to put this on. Don't look at me that way.

Weather's getting colder, winter claims the land.

It is said the queen is dressed in the warmest gown in the whole land

They say it is a wonder, her dress made of thunder

The wolves who cannot see it will one day dethrone the queen.

The citizens all cower, the beauty of the power

makes them see a flower bloom in the winter wonder land

The walls keep getting closer, breathe fear in your cage

for the queen will hear today the reason in the rhymes children play

The queen is naked and no one sees her amber eyes

Now the innocent kneel down and ask forgiveness for their lies

The court, the meek, will obey the tyrant queen. Bring us their heads for..

This is the day when the wolves die young.

They'll never see a new midnight sun.

I'm gonna make sure the prophecy is undone.

Find out where those children have run.

Mutiny is rising against the wall of fear.

Mirror, mirror of the fall sees her final spiraling downfall.

The queen is naked and no one sees her amber eyes

Now the innocent kneel down and ask forgiveness for their lies

The court, the meek, will obey the tyrant queen.

This is the day when the wolves die young.

They'll never see a new midnight sun.

I'm gonna make sure the prophecy is undone.

Find out where those children have run.

THE SUIKODEN 2 INTRO VIDEO!

For Natalie it has to be this. I just love the combination of despair and hope that the song goes through.

You get five bajillion awesome points for listing something from Genso Suikoden! xD As much as I love FF, Suikoden is my #1 fave RPG series...maybe fave game series period. It's just so gooooooooooood.

Speaking of Suikoden...

X'vhatikih's most likely theme. Oschon is totes her favorite of the Twelve. Fits a seemingly carefree Miqo'te...but then...

This shows up when she's alone! My absolute favorite 'days gone by' theme for anything. :D But...it's so sad. :(

And the cheer-up I'm sure someone will be on hand to give her:

Bonus not-really-related track in case of 'let me play you the song of my people'

Apparently I can only find music for one of my characters, and not even one I RP the most! Oh well... Its probably because she is a very conceptual character compared to my other ones.

So here's my playlist for Burned Cypress thus far!:

Ah I knew there would be a thread like this somewhere. Well whilst writing Synn's Back story there were many songs that helped influence his overall character but I'll just post the three that were the biggest influence.

This would definitely be Synn's theme if I had to choose between the three.

I feel like this song shows what the Calamity (along with a few other things) has done to him and that despite the strong front he puts up he's actually quite fragile.

Well, I decided to replace my character's theme. Side node, "Princess Mononoke" is such a wonderful film and I've always been a fan of Joe Hisaishi's music and Hayao Miyazaki films.

I felt that this theme has a stronger representation to the gallantry behind my character.

Honestly, I'd have said "Leather Rebel" by Judas Priest for pure lyrics.  I mean, they're just so in-touch with the game terms Orleans Ignacius is understood by.  However... if we're talking pure feel of the character and lyrical content to match, there's really only one song...

YOU SEE US COMING AND YOU ALL TOGETHER RUN FOR COVER!

... WE'RE TAKING OVER THIS TOWN...

Which album, Cowboys from Hell or Painkiller?

I do love Pantera, and I bought the album while I was in middle school.  It completely fits, I think, where I'm going with Orleans.  I really do wish I could have used that Judas Priest song, though; it's just a bit too clean for what I'm going for.  But man, I think Painkiller is the best heavy metal album produced anywhere by anybody.

I was so tempted.  Really, the lightning imagery almost won me over.  Still, Cowboys from Hell is a better choice for Orleans.  He's just too gritty for music as polished as Priest's.

I feel that at this moment this song really hits true to Kage. He has potential to do good things as himself alone but as a team member he's got the potential to do great things that can shake things up. He'll eventually burst out into something phenomenal. ... eventually. Maybe.

Cowboys From Hell. Dimebag is one of the reasons I wanted to play guitar as a kid. I like Judas Priest, but Pantera was the band that made me really interested in music.

I remember Pantera and Fear Factory got me into metal music as a kid in middle school.  It was Megadeth and Katatonia that got me into metal culture in high school.  Finally, it was Peter Steele (RIP) and Tom Araya that got me to pick up a bass in college.

Kind of funny how most people self-identify with where they were born or who they were born to, but for as long as I can remember I've chosen my culture through music.  Goth rock and heavy metal are my culture.

One of the things I've been doing with Dogberry is having him styled after the more tribal aspects of early Roegadyn culture. He really does consider himself part of a dying breed among the Roegadyns, a tribal hunter, and tries to keep as much of their old practices alive. As such, I've been looking for music to capture that. When on the hunt, Dogberry has been known to sing songs from his tribe's past. Since it's pretty much implied that Sea Wolves were vikings, I looked up some viking folk and found this song, which expresses his outlook on life perfectly.

Here are the translated lyrics:

"Who shall sing me

In(to) death-sleep sling me

When I walk the way of Hel

And the tracks I tread are cold, so cold

I sought the songs

I sent the songs

When the deepest well

Gave me drops so harsh

From Valfaders pledge

All know I Odin, where you (your) eye hid

Early or in the days end, still knows the raven if I fall

When you stand at the gate of Hel

And when you have to tear free

I will/shall follow you

Across Gjallarbru with my song / Past the bridge of Gjöll with my song

You become free from the bonds that binds you!

You are free from the bonds that bound you!"

"Cattle die, kinsmen die,

you yourself soon must die;

but there is one thing that never dies,

the fair fame that one has earned.

"Cattle die, kinsmen die,

you yourself soon must die;

but there is one thing that never dies,

the doom on each one dead."

- (Hàvamàl 76-77)

This one fits Maya (For reasons BEYOND just the name, I swear :P). Maya's hard to get down for very long, although for a different reason than the song's eponymous Maya. She's of the view that sadness clouds judgement, and it can easily make performing tasks harder. As such, she doesn't let herself get sad unless she's both alone and lacking in stuff to do, since that's the one time (As she sees it) that you have no current business.

...And she is also, as most people who've met her can attest, very, VERY 'spur of the moment'. She can forget grudges literally minutes after being wronged, and she tends to base her opinions on what is happening at that very moment, hardly ever looking far into the past and never into the future. She is sanguine almost to the point that it must be intentional. It is.
