Gurren Dai Posted February 12, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2015 I have to ask, what was the nicest thing you've seen, done, or have been on the receiving end of in this game? Like, from other players. The reason why I ask is because, while I was trying to do a quest at the Mermaid in Limsa (Gilgamesh Server), some random M'quiote player just opened a trade with me and gave me 10k in gil. He said it was a "welcome to the realm" gift and I didn't have to pay him back. Have you guys had stuff like this happen? Sorry if this is the wrong forum, by the by. Link to comment
Kinono Posted February 12, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2015 This wonderful sweetie once gave me the full HQ goldsmith's set for the small small price of an eternity of hugs. (She actually didn't ask for the hugs, that's just what I decided to give her.) Link to comment
Shizuka Posted February 12, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 12, 2015 For Christmas, one of my newer FC people (who sadly had to transfer back to his old server for raiding purposes shortly after Christmas) carefully found out what every one of the people he talked to on a regular basis wanted in game. I was given a Fat Cat, a friend of mine was given the Littlefoot, and another friend was given the Arachne Shirt of Striking, and yet another friend was gifted a Nutkin. He spent millions upon millions of gil just out of the blue on all of us. And then he found out I'd been desperately trying to save up for the Shiva barding. Shortly before he transferred back, I found one in my mailbox  He was a really awesome dude; just a total joy to be around (for a lot more reasons than his spending habits). Link to comment
Gurren Dai Posted February 12, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted February 12, 2015 I seem to be a magnet for these things, or maybe it's just 'cause I'm sorta new. Someone else just made me a new books and armor for my arcanist out of the blue. D: Link to comment
Nebbs Posted February 12, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 12, 2015 Someone crafted me Artesian pants and feet.. and all they wanted in payment was was a dance. Link to comment
Enla Posted February 12, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 12, 2015 My current FC leader has taken to crafting every single lowbie in the guild armor at every ten level interval, at no cost to us. If we want to donate ingredients or materials we can, but he and the rest ask for nothing in return and he's even willing to craft us all i70 gear once we hit the level cap as well. I've never been a part of any group that was so generous and caring towards it's lower members, and it's really changed my leveling plans a little as my next class to level will be a gatherer so I can help out when the next round of newbies comes in. 1 Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted February 12, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 12, 2015 Person who bought me at the auction gave me an Arachne Shirt of Striking. Link to comment
Askier Posted February 13, 2015 Share #8 Posted February 13, 2015 Hmmm, there are a ton in this game cause, at least in my experience, the player base is WWWAAAAYYYY less toxic than most games I've played. Few examples - - When people in my FC just randomly give me stuff they can craft cause they can even though I will NEVER be able to pay them back (Ragnar and KAhn'a have both given me many free hand outs >.< Thank you two!) - Grieving Hound once gave me all the gil for a room just because we played together. - People grinding with me for hours to help me level just cause. Nicest thing I've done? - helping Osric as a tank for his ninja class. - Helping Osric be awesome by standing around and let my natural awesomness rub off on him. Link to comment
Melody Posted February 13, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 13, 2015 I once ran into a player who stopped and traded me an egg and then ran off. No words were said. :surprise: Link to comment
Kahnopy Posted February 13, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 13, 2015 - Helping Osric be awesome by standing around and let my natural awesomness rub off on him. ALAS, IS IT POSSIBLE ANYMORE? And to be on topic, the nicest thing would probably be players willingly passing on a piece of loot that we grinded quite a bit for (freaking Allagan Coat of Casting). Link to comment
DeletedUser Posted February 13, 2015 Share #11 Posted February 13, 2015 The community does seem a lot kinder here than in other MMOs I've played (looking at you, WoW). Lots of instances of people passing on gear, opting out of speed runs because somebody needs something from a full run, being chill instead of raging after several wipes, etc. Most recently I was doing my hunting log and another player was hunting the same mobs. We were racing to tag them as the spawn rate was rather low. I was getting really frustrated until I noticed she had tagged and immediately stopped attacking. I finished them off and got the credit for it too. Maybe that doesn't seem like much but in other games I've had other players go out of their way to stop me getting the kill I needed. Gegenji Posted February 13, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 13, 2015 I've had quite a lot of kind things done for me in-game, quite a few by members of the RPC. Most of them involve stuff for Chachan's room, but there were a couple other, equally awesome, exceptions. 1. Deveaeaeaeaearau (Man your IC name is hard to spell off the top of my head, so I went with the goofy option) made a full suit of HQ level 25 Armor for Chachan when I was first starting out. I still have every piece of it and it's on my Gladiator Retainer for the time being. I don't think I could ever get rid of it. 2. An FC mate straight up bought me a BSM table for Chachan's room, just because they wanted to buy something for someone. Also, when I mentioned I was going for a Tonberry theme, I found a couple Tonberry furniture pieces mysteriously added to the FC bank. 3. Dev strikes again by not only crafted the Open Hearth for Chachan's room, but also spotted me, like, 11 Coke since I couldn't afford it. 4. Jancis made Chachan a sheepy rug for Chachan's room too! I spent several more minutes that I probably should have trying to make sure it fit just right. And the biggest one? I've mentioned it more than once. 5. Warren and Howl got me the MOOGLE SUIT. I can't express how shocked and humbled I was for that. I was certainly sad that I had missed out on my chance of getting one, but to have them actually go and get it for me was... there's really no words. And that's not counting all the smaller in-game kindnesses. People shouting out when relic-related FATEs are up, people putting together FATE runs and letting people of all level ranges jump in on them. I'm sure I have a couple people on my Friends List who were just folks who were really nice to me out of the blue one time or another. Really makes you want to help people back, which is why I do what little I can - offering my meager crafting skills and being a tank-on-call as often as possible. 1 Link to comment
Elaris Posted February 13, 2015 Share #13 Posted February 13, 2015 I once ran into a player who stopped and traded me an egg and then ran off. No words were said. :surprise: This has pretty much happened to me shortly after the second launch. A Lalafell randomly walked up to me while I was waiting for FATES to spawn and he probably had given me about 6+ food for free. We kept in touch for a short while as he always supplied me with free food for whatever reason but eventually he left the game. To this day I had never received any more free food, and that some what makes me very sad. A player once bought me a HQ shield for a lowbie alt before as he noticed I did not have one equipped, and honestly I forgot I had a cheap one on me so I kept his HQ one because why not? nice community. Enla Posted February 15, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 15, 2015 Thank you so much to the wonderful player who just gifted me with a Pudgy Puk out of the blue, not sure if you'd like your name shared or not, and to the group that let me RP a rather extensive scene with them tonight. I'm over the moon right now! Link to comment
Delilah Scythewood Posted February 15, 2015 Share #15 Posted February 15, 2015 Ezhara: Seen her help give gil to people who needed FC rooms. Such a babe <3 Locke Rinannis: Him and his IRL girlfriend Romi helped me powerlevel the rest of the way through WVR, and helped me get both class sets HQ'd ; ; As well as gave me cute healing pants for my birthday! He's also been helping me raise gil for my medium personal house. One of the best fucking people ever. Sitting Ox: Gave millions of millions towards our FC house even though he personally hates the LB AND gave me gil for my personal room. Gah <3 V'lanya Mei: Helps people with PvE runs and always open to having others join in on her RP. She's also one of the first people to sign up for FC events and to do whatever is needed to make things happen, which always takes a load off on me. L'kenthi and C'kayah: Both have donated stuffs when we got our first FC house in the Goblet, and Kenthi gave us stuff for our new FC house in the LB! Both are awesome folks! Link to comment
BumblingSeaBiscuit Posted February 15, 2015 Share #16 Posted February 15, 2015 Lili, who has donated so much help to the Midnight Pearl as we claw to try and get a free company house. Tiergan, who has created the Red Lotus plot and really tried his best to make sure everyone feels included. R'shenn, Phae'ra, and N'obdhi, who have stayed up for countless of hours (I lost track after fifteen) trying to get everyone their WoD gear. The general community, who have just been so lovely! I'm undoubtedly forgetting people and I do try to show my appreciation for the kindness I've seen done. So over all just, thank you everyone. <3 1 Link to comment
Aris Posted February 15, 2015 Share #17 Posted February 15, 2015 C'kayah is incredibly kind and made me a CUL leveling kit to lv 37 for Steady Hand II. I'm eternally thankful! Am leveling all the DOH so to get such a big boost in making that happen makes me do a happy dance. ♥ A friend of mine, Zei, bought me Alkalurops when I first hit level 50 and didn't have a weapon. One of my favourite items in the game, it was so sweet of her. ♥ And a kind stranger gave me some grapes he'd been gathering to help 'leveling adventurers', and a random ghost gave me a cookie. Little things, but nevertheless put a huge smile on my face. ♥ In attempt to pass on the kind gestures, I made someone a WVR leveling kit, minus the last 10 levels because I found it difficult to HQ them. I don't think they minded though. And I try to help out with making HQ clothes or running things if needed..but I shamefully admit, lately I've been so wrapped up in capping tombs and getting all dailies/weeklies done that I've neglected taking that extra step to be helpful to others. This has been a good reminder - it's nice to see a thread like this. We have some new folk in our FC so when I get on I'll see what I can do. Link to comment
Miryn Posted February 16, 2015 Share #18 Posted February 16, 2015 When I was a fresh 50 PLD, my first job ever, an officer in my FC crafted me a HQ Mailbreaker free of charge. At the time it was worth half a million gil, which was literally more than twice the money I owned. I was grateful beyond words. He got lifelong loyalty from me. This was back in fall 2013; I am still in the same FC, haha. Link to comment
Vulture Posted February 17, 2015 Share #19 Posted February 17, 2015 On my first character, an inferior non-Roegadyn, someone gave me 10k when I stepped into Gridania. Link to comment
C'kayah Polaali Posted February 17, 2015 Share #20 Posted February 17, 2015 Almost too many to keep track of! Nat and Kage for my Vanya robes. Kenthy and my whole damn FC for my Cashmere robes, and again for leveling kits to get CUL and WVR to 50. Lili for tossing us spare gil towards our medium house. Gareth and Raksha Redtail for making me gear throughout my entire WHM leveling arc. 1 Link to comment
Blue Posted February 17, 2015 Share #21 Posted February 17, 2015 Before I had an FC chest to use, I used to make gear for my alts and give it to them via market board, by putting them for sale at 1 gil and then quickly log on my alt to buy it. This one time, a player was quicker than me and bought my gloves. To my surprise, he was standing right next to my alt at the market board in Gridania. I told him what had happened and he was so kind as to give the gloves to me, even said that after all, they matched me better (they were purple to match my alt's highlights). I was so moved by that, I made another pair for him for free ... Link to comment
Ciel Posted February 17, 2015 Share #22 Posted February 17, 2015 Not to toot my own horn, but someone accidentally put up an HQ Rose Gold Earring of Gathering the other day for 14k, when they were going for closer to 180k. I grabbed it before anyone else could take off with it, sent a /tell to the crafter and made sure he got it back so he could relist it. It can be time consuming and expensive to get to that level of crafting, I can't stand the thought of someone else profiting on a mistake like that. 1 Link to comment
Zael Aders Posted February 17, 2015 Share #23 Posted February 17, 2015 I was hunting some random mobs around Mor Dhona when I spotted someone else doing the same. We chatted and partied up to do it, and ended up killing the mobs after our hunt logs were both done. I hope one day to be on somebody's list. Link to comment
Aya Posted February 17, 2015 Share #24 Posted February 17, 2015 Nahalia Nerusa once made the Sailor outfit for me I only use the pants, but I absolutely love them, and I simply could not afford them! I have never been any good at making gil, so that sort of gift was a very welcome one! I also have people tip me over the course of RPing Aya's barmaiding. At first I really didn't know what to think, I was so surprised! I do not, and never have, RPed for gil, but I came to find that people really didn't want to take no for an answer, so these days I just accept the tips.. often times they are 2, or 5 gil, other times they run into the tens of thousands. I consider this random kindness, because it really is not expected! Link to comment
Aaron Posted February 17, 2015 Share #25 Posted February 17, 2015 I give out Savage Might Materia to random people in game for no reason. There's nothing I want to buy so why not? Link to comment
