*waves* Hi, before the introduction of Astrologian, I only really had interest in playing WHM. The combat was far too sluggish for a dps or tank class to do anything but bore me to tears. Of course, that makes me super narrowminded and unhealthy! Oh boy! Eh...I think I must be narrowminded, too, since I have always been bored with DPS and tanking rotations. In every MMO I've ever played. I only ever play healers because they're the only ones who really entertain me. Count me in with the narrow minded people too I guess. I honestly have zero fun on a large percentage of the FFXIV classes. I like Warrior and I fell in love with Ninja later but my favorite roles in an MMO have always been support/healer. Unfortunately I find playing the existing healers about as much fun as watching paint dry. Astrologian and their cards/support stance sound like a dream come true but I'll have to level a crap healer I don't want to get there. I'm sure there are people who feel the same way about the existing tanks/dps as well. Will I? Yes but only because I have been with the game since launch and a friend of mine is here to suffer along with me and offer rp when I feel like killing the next person who sends me on a crap errand for the MSQ. Will returning players be willing to invest that much time in order to get the classes they want? Maybe. Will new players? Maybe. But why does it have to be maybe? No evidence that you need to level a healer to unlock AST. so you may be in luck

1. Why would Memenu leave those who summoned her in a jam to roam Eorzea? Not by choice, if the Garlean military found out, she'd probably be killed almost immediately, more so if Ultima was combat ready. Especially within Garlean lines. 2. If they're not saved, why would they resummon her if she failed them the first time? Point number one, but they could've been re-deployed somewhere else or are in a location not yet visited by the players as of the events of 2.5. 3a. If somehow the summoning ritual didn't conjure Memenu to the summoners, how would they even know it worked? They wouldn't, but as one of her followers used her own soul and body as the sacrifice, the summon had a perfect focal point. 3b. If she gets killed, how would they know to resummon her? At this point, they most likely wouldn't. The amount of time and effort required to get the materiel needed would probably take too long to summon her again if it was needed, especially with the fall of the Castrums (or most of them) in Eorzea. 4. If they are saved, why would they resummon Memenu at all? Their plight is over. Exactly; why would they? Perhaps to help others who are as misfortunate as they were during their time subjugated to Garlean prisoners. While not everyone needs a savior, the realm needs a hero, no matter how unlikely they may be. -edit- Nako'li, http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Primal " it is said that the flux of aether over Silvertear Falls has been disrupted and the whole land of Eorzea will slowly perish if this process isn't reversed." to take the entire sentence: It is the summoning of the Primals that is disrupting it.

What I'm reading on the FF wiki is that Primals are a threat due to their never-ending want of followers, crystals and Aether to increase their power. If this is correct, Memenu is a "non-threat" which is both unique and...Strange. I'm looking more into it, because I'm only getting this from the Moggle Mog page. IIRC only Ifrit and Leviathan actively enforce their tempering on people as a means to expand their influence, Garuda does it because of the threat, and as far as we can tell Ramuh, Titan and Shiva don't do it except to those that seek it out. (although some could say that being a heretic is pretty similar) Primals drain the land of Aether through their continued existance, thereby slowly, killing the land, it is the reason that they are hunted down so vigourously. The threat posed by their continued existance is too great.

I did similar to Telluride, describe the tempo and rythm of the song, then recite the lyrics using song notes, typically a line or two at a time. I also link the song using an OOC text (yell or the like) so that the people Nako is playing to can listen to it as well

quick trip through google brings this http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Lambs_of_Dalamud however, fair enough. I'm gunna go with Tempered by Bahamut then (ala the moon) as I believe thats a similar issue with Nael Van Darnus from 1.0 and Coil.
-
If you can get it to work... Have it installed etc, but the new game button, and clicking yes, just shuts the pop out and takes you back to the menu. nothing on the forum helps despite people having the same issue too but that is neither here nor there.

1a. Why does a small group pray to her and not say, the Twelve, like most other common Eorzeans? Loss of faith, a traumatic trigger, etc. The same could be asked for say, The Lambs of Dalamud. 1b. And those Primals are also massive, so smaller groups for smaller primals? 2. How do you plan to handle this if a Lalafellin host is being used as the vessel? She "gave up her body" would be the easiest explanation. A sacrifice for the "common good" so to speak. It's a cop-out, but it'd probably be easier than, say, "the cult kidnapped a random lalafell and used her as said sacrifice", or something. The body is a vessel, the flesh a limiter. to my knowledge the Lambs of Dalamud are either tempered by said moon, or Voidtouched, so bringing them up as an example may not work.

Which is why I suggest 3. That and New Vegas are likely going to be closer to how 4 plays, and 3 will have ties due to some quests. This is not to say that the others aren't worth a look, they absolutely are, but being pressed for time etc.
-
these are amazing... I'm talking concept art quality... you're really good.
-
...Wouldn't that mean she'd be unkillable? (tldr reading comprehension issues) That is correct. A primal is unkillable. When they die their consciousness simply returns to the Aether. And then reform when summoned once more. A Primal is, as Warren said, a semi-deity of supernatural undying powers.

I can officially RP a blue mage. well, an FFXI blue mage.

to answer number 3; Iceheart acted as the catalyst for Shiva. With that said, upon Shiva's "death", Iceheart remained. I wonder what happened if the fervant prayer was used on one who was willing to sacrifice his or her "soul" for the Primal to use as a corporeal body. 3b) Remember, Enkidu was also a Primal (I...Think, I forgot. You can completely correct me if I'm wrong) in the Hildebrand scenarios and he(she?) didn't need crystals. ...To my knoweldge. Also; Greg's "final" form. Also, is Diabolos considered a Primal in Eorzean lore? 3c) As stated, Memenu's unique in that she cannot Temper others, so her "sphere" of influence will only grow by those who truly wish to believe in her. (I primarily chose to make this ability impossible as to not have any sort of "power" abuse. tldr; ability removed because generally it's OP.). 3d) Yes, killing Memenu can pose a very real concern. Her being in a lalafell form is also what she is described of in legends and ancient texts. Gilgamesh was leaning on a crate of Crystals when he summoned Enkidu, the crystals then promptly vanished. Diabolos is a Voidsent, not a Primal.

as has been stated, 3 has references to the Commonwealth, and I believe is closer geographically to where we are going with 4. And like as not, there are going to be throwbacks to it (due to said geographic closeness). I would start with 3, move to New Vegas, and if you're hankering for more of the background hit up 1 and 2.

So, I got the Humble Bundle: Relic that they did this week, (primarily for CoH2 and Space Marine) and as such have keys for some of the other games free to a good home, they'll go to the first person to message me: Dawn of War: Game of the Year Edition Company of Heroes: Complete Edition Dawn of War 2 Dawn of War 2: Retribution

DhPfCkuFqiw Pretty much this... But just replace guns with magic.... unless he's in Garlemald, then yeah, they're guns... Maybe with a bit of this thrown in for good measure. XMX-zF5nPro -
21 years ago ______________________________________________________________________ The clock chimed on the mantle, signifying the hour. The sound muffled slightly through the brass aparatus worn around the pale skinned Miqo'te's ears, sitting at a desk toying with a small device in his hands. The device buzzed and whirred when he turned certain screws, and was silent with others. It's purpose eluded him. Throwing it to the desk it whirred once more before falling silent. "Bloody Belah'dian technology... Why did they have to migrate and leave such items about. At this rate I'll never work it out." He pulls the brass aparatus from his ears, and places them gently onto the desk, displaying more care with his creation than a relic from ages past. Reaching forwards to grasp a cup, he brings it to his lips and takes a dip drink. A second passes before he spits it back into the vessel, spluttering. "Cold again... I really must stop working for such lengths of time." Pushing his seat back with his legs he stretches and bends over to touch his feet, or as close to them as he can, not being the most flexible of people. Stepping around it he takes off the dark robe that signified him as a student of Thaumaturgy and looked amongst his wardrobe. A variety of outfits sat within, Noble's attire, clothing suitable for even the saltiest of Limsan natives, and even, gained through much haggling, the uniform of a wood wailer, amongst others. He reached past all of these and pulled forth the dress uniform of a Private of the Immortal Flames. It was time to test it. Standing in front of the mirror, he sighed, it was much too large for his sixteen year old frame, but that would change. Going back to his desk he pulled at a wooden mask, plain and cut from fresh Ashwood, adorned with a single Crystal over the forehead. Looking between the two items, he nodded and closed his eyes, placing the mask over his face. At first, nothing happened, but then he started getting a tingling in his hands, growing and spreading, before he could feel the very flesh, bone and muscle of his body rippling, and changing. The outfit dropped from his hands and he reached for the mask, but lacked the strength to remove it. After a moment, he dropped to all fours and the sensation stopped. Panting with exertion, and feeling drained of a good portion of even his impressively large wellspring of Aether, he crawled towards the mirror, kneeling and looking at his reflection. Instead of a pair of mismatched eyes looking through the mask, and two feline ears emerging from above it, there were none. At least not his own. Feeling at his face he felt skin, not wood, ears of hyur descent rather than Miqo'te and looking back of him were eyes of rich hazel. Throwing his head back he laughed, though the voice was not his own. Deep and booming rather than neutral and ballanced. It had worked.

I think the major influences of your character are best to be worked out before hand, but for myself the Minutae of my character is decided as and when it would be appropriate. For example, big things that influenced Nako: Being sent to Ul'dah, killing his sister, training in the different schools of Magic, his Tutor and how he acted, etc. Minutae: Being able to sing or dance, favourite colour, likes and dislikes (Beyond ones that may define an aspect that is a regular occurance)

I have to agree, The 'Elite' gear may be an alternative uniform available dependant on circumstance or maybe even unique to the Ala Mhigan front? iirc the only person wearing a version of it outside of the Hunt Scholars is Pippin.
-
Nako is moonkitty in desert, and is still primarily nocturnal.... thats how he stays pale , though when I get a fantasia come heavensward I'll likely make some changes.

Pictures of new Gear, some stunning sets on the way.

It makes zero sense to use THM from a mechanics standpoint. The only Cross Class skills of any use from it are to do with Cast times, and as a Melee class, especially as a tank, it is doubtful that it would use cast times. Except in XI there was use of Black Magic with Dark Knights. The fact that they also were originally thought to heavily use MP, yes it makes sense to an extent. I'm not the only one who thought this. And I'm certainly not going to argue over it on forums as it was merely a hypothesis at the time. It's not an argument, merely a discussion.... and use mp isn't the same as cast a spell. Given that the XI sustem is seperate from XIV's distinct armoury system, it makes no sense withing XIV for it, despite it making some sense in XI

unless they're not in a Gathering FC. except there is no requirement to be in an FC to gather the rare nodes...
