plate armour, when correctly fitted, didn't present much in the way of a hinderance to mobility. It was pretty much a second skin or extension of the body, with greater range of movement than the person inside. However, yes, it is a hell of a lot easier, and cheaper to equip an army with musket/arquebus/longbow etc. Also, our longbowmen, (as featured in Agincourt and other such fights) were predominantly Welsh.

Much of 1.0 was officially retconned and dusted up under the rug. If it is not mention in 2.0, it's not of importance. If it does get mentioned, then sure, I'll change my mind, but until that point, it's an exercise in futility and expecting the community to know about it, much less actually give any thought or regard to matter, is frankly absurd. We can't play 1.0 anymore and SQX doesn't want us to remember it; there IS a reason 2.0 is so seamless in its presentation and this would be why. That's why the PC holds up their soul crystal every time they learn a new skill, right? I mean, it happens every five levels regardless of which job you're playing as. Please, show us where in-game with some screenshots. Once again, give us proof. I don't recall it at all and I've always paid a great deal of attention to job quests. I don't even play a white mage anymore, so why are you turning this on me? And really? 'Dear'? Could you be any more flagrantly condescending? You can disagree if you want, but please do us all a favor and bring something other than hearsay. Show me in the game where it's referred to, otherwise you're just arguing for the sake. Truth is, I don't want to RP with you, Liadan, Nako, etc. I find your collective approach to RP stifling, restrictive, patronizing and counter-intuitive to the experience at a base level and I will not tolerate anyone bullying a new player away from playing a classic Final Fantasy job that's been there from the very first game, not when there's a number of legitimate possibilities that make it plausible. Heaven forbid we welcome people with open arms as opposed to shunning them for something completely and utterly inane. Treat people as we'd like to be treated, etc. Is that really so hard to understand? no is bullying anyone against playing it, rather, we are choosing to say that, if we are incompatable, we reserve our right to not rp with someone. No one is policing RP, no one is saying not to RP what you want, just that we, personally do not see how it can work in lore. And as I have always said, if you can make it work, in a feasible matter, then fine, lets do that shit. The only restriction I put on my rp is that the person I RP with has put in at least some effort to follow what is presented. If that means that I RP with less people, then fine, so be it. Also, I don't remember reading anywhere about the lore from 1.0 being retconned. Please, present us with your proof on this.

I don't really use the nako'li Chalahko blog anymore, just using my master one (Which isn't in fact listed, but its not all FFXIV related.)

Because some people seem to take disagreements over lore interpretations personally.

It fits, Ul'dah, and as they say... If it fits, I sits.

I'm sorry..... what? Liek... wut?! Okay, well, first off, he IS a conjurer, so that part's kiiind of okay. The part that's NOT okay is T'rahnu somehow... being... a voidsent demon? Not to mention, Rakka'li engaging in rituals of summoning voidsent?! This is a non-starter! I'd have to rewrite both of their entire backgrounds to RP this out, and that is SO not happening! I mean... gawd, it's just so bloody hilarious how it gave me a prompt that makes absolutely no sense with either the setting or the characters. I LOVE it. It's so wrong! I'd try to RP it in spite but... yeah, wow. Haha. Damn. I know I could have just re-rolled, but this shook me up so much I just HAD to share it. Step one of how to make a non-starter work: - assume both characters are actors playing fictional roles. Step two of how to make a non-starter work: - add copious amounts of humor. Step three - Stir Vigorously (Or shake if you are of the Bond variety) Step Four - Profit. yup, for instance, look at Judge and Bry or myself and Erik

except Koji is a member of the localisation team and is essentially deputy lore monkey under the main guy.... he is not a member of the japanese writing team, but is pretty involved with the lore. Does that mean any of his works aren't valid?

big powerful flamey death spell that drains the area around the caster of some of its aether, due to it being black magic. And is the egi the target of it? cause otherwise, I don't know, shrug?

Nako sits at his desk, the world, for some reason appearing in black and white. The pale Miqo'te blinks his eyes as thunder sounds in the distance, a flash of lightning illuminating the room. Lifting a cigar from an ashtray, he looks down at himself, somewhere he got a suit, shrugging, he takes a drag from the cigar before placing it back, exhaling deeply, closing his eyes and relaxing to the noise of the rain as it hits the window. A knock sounds. With the next flash of lightning a figure is illuminated outside the door, a large, bulky figure. The door slams open, and in strides a large man, dressed in a sequined cocktail dress, with a boa drapped over their arms. 'You gotta help me....'

I wouldn't say casters got the shaft at all, the only two with any difficult to RP are Summoner and White Mage, thats 2 out of 7 options, with a 3rd being fairly close to the line. And yes, Conjurers do often heal, there is one assissting in a pregnancy I believe in Hawthorne Hut, something that only a trained healer would do back in the day, also Conjury itself does lend itself to healing, as well as being a force for nature.

And the Ascians want to return the world to its natural state, to undo its prior destruction at the hands of the parasite Hydaelyn. edit: Don;t mind me, just needed to re-watch a few things

If you could introduce a certain prop or piece of gear...

One of the rules is just a Bill & Ted quote? And they got to Section 4 before writing in the part about not treating each other like garbage? 10/10 Top tier rule book. Would follow rules again. On a more (or less) serious note, there's a real lack of non-goofy shirts in this game. I suggested one earlier, but I could suggest chest items all day. Idk what the makers of this game were thinking. There is a level 50 jacket with a Bee Gees neckerchief and a bull whip, and it can only be used by LNC/DRG, the last people who need a restricting leather leisure suit. Why? What is this? It's rule one, but section 4 of the moderation policy, as shown at the rules tab in the navigation bar, that you should have read before signing up to the site I agree, we need more shirts. -
Yes, many innocents died when the Elementals flooded the earth, but the alternative was the destruction of the planet. Greater good and all that.

You then got drawn into a protacted argument over that piece of gear, but that is besides the point. Anything else you want in? Also, have to agree with Erik, I've been wanting a /visor for litterally anything with a hood, cowls I'm looking at you, since I started playing. -
Need a little guidance on a character issue
Aduu Avagnar replied to Yunas13's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I have to agree. My friends kids have both made characters on this game on my account(one 16, the other 7), I was in the same building but not hovering, the only criteria was that they don't use their real names. The seven year old just ran around killing stuff with his one main ability, but thoroughly enjoyed himself, the 16 year old played through normally. -

War scythes were made because people initially using regular scythes found it impractical as weapons (but they were used as weapons which is my point) The link even flat out says that's how they were created, from scythes The scythe and pitchfork, farming tools, have frequently been used as a weapon by those who couldn't afford or didn't have access to more expensive weapons such as pikes, swords, or later, guns. Scythes and pitchforks were stereotypically carried by angry mobs or gangs of enraged peasants.[1] The process usually involved reforging the blade of a scythe at a 90 degree angle, strengthening the joint between the blade and the shaft with an additional metal pipe or bolts and reinforcing the shaft to better protect it against cuts from enemy blades.[citation needed] At times, instead of a scythe blade, a blade from a hand-operated chaff cutter was used. Oh. . look at that! I think when people were talking about it being an effective weapon, they were refering to it in the original state, whilst yes you could potentially wave it around and be threatening, it wouldn't be very effective, hence the reforging the blade, and turning it into a polearm you could actually wield. However, we know you disagree with each other, you don't have to have the last word, this is only the internet. So, back on topic? -

Linked that previously! Where were you then. Where. Not getting involved in heated debates Just had some more thoughts about what I wanted: lightly armoured robes, you know, to look baller. That and some Glaives. -
Any other cosplayers out there?
Aduu Avagnar replied to tawko_royama's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
If I ever cosplaya s someone in armour, I'm just going to get some LARP quality stuff made up. May as well purpose it for both hobbies. -
its not those changes that people get upset and up in arms about its the: 'oops I was walking through an abandoned ruin and found a potion and now I'm a girl/lala/roe/cat/other now' changes. Personally, I couldn't care less if someone wants to use it or not.
