Erel thinks the glass could serve a useful purpose in the future. Perhaps some weary soul will be dying of thirst and will trade anything for a drink. It is best to keep the glass around until such time as it has fulfilled its usefulness..then it will either be consumed, tossed carelessly away, saved as a memento, or serve as some sort of strange pet ...Erel hasn't decided yet.

Definitely guilty of the bolded. I'll also add that I personally say what my character does (and mimic -how- they say), at times, to make sure it sounds "natural." To be honest I was a little self conscious posting the first one. I seriously thought I was the only one who did that. I'm not alone in my weirdness!

..you make the physical actions in real life corresponding to the actions you do in game just to make sure you're describing it correctly. ...you research "*insert trope* role play" on google to try and pick some ideas from other places. ...you spend hours looking for the right character theme to play during role play so you can properly get into that roles mindset. ...you spend 5+ minutes after someone's dialogue during role play just thinking "How would my character word what I want to say?" ..you stay awake for several hours after you're supposed to go to bed because you have this awesome idea for a story and don't want to forget it. (Never mind that you have work the next day) ...you make macros of witty/ interesting things you want to make sure you do/say during an RP session in the hopes that the other person will notice that it's witty/interesting. This thread has highlighted how neurotic and particular I really am about RP...I have some problems.

I am kind of in the same boat as you. A lot of my friends who I usually run things with have gotten a little bored and quit for a while and I've been a bit lonely. I am also on EST time so it makes contact a bit more convenient. Here is a brief introduction to my characters. If you are interested in either, let me know . Gloria Wilde (Erel): Gloria Wilde is my antagonist character. She is a Voidsent (Erel) soul inhabiting the body of a Doman woman who fell ill and passed. Prior to that, she was expelled from another of my characters and trapped into a wind up doll. She's aching for a little payback and will use anyone to further her motives. Ari Kagon: Ari is very sweet, very book smart, and very naive at times. She LOVES books and learning. Ari is an apprentice Scholar and former Astrologian understudy as she is interested in learning everything about everything. If you are interested in intelligent conversation, this is your gal! Word of caution: don't let her drink even the smallest bit of alcohol, unless you want a tipsy mess on your hands.

You guys broke Rule 1 so many times... YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT IT! All kidding aside, looks fun.

My folks live in Louisiana, thankfully they are in the northern area but it doesn't take away from the tragedy. It's easy to forget while sitting behind a computer screen sort of disconnected from the world (while being so connected at the same time) that things like this are going on. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront and kind of giving everyone a reality check.

I am sooooo going! Can't wait!! -
If you need a bit of help fleshing out who your character is, I've always found this 100 Questions thread to be extremely helpful when I make a new character. Considering you aren't 100% familiar with the lore and all, I'm sure you'll want to acquaint yourself with that for a while before diving in but I'll put this here for when you decide to get to it or even fill it out as you go. Hope this helps and best of luck to you!

I have the same problem sometimes and feel like I come off as boring. But this community is very welcoming and forgiving so there is no real judgment. The best advice I can give is, don't give up on it if you genuinely enjoy RP. It takes time and a lot of creative effort to really find your character's voice. Everyone goes through it, especially when trying to fit the specifics of the game. Once you find someone who you really connect with when RPing, it will all just click, I guarantee it, and you will know exactly what to say and how your character would react to things. I hope the words of encouragement from the fellow RPCers has lifted your spirits, this really is a great community!

I think we bumped into the same persons recently then. It seems there are a lot of drama-trolls making voidsent characters hard to be taken seriously. This saddens me : ( I hope we can go on with our little plot someday o/ You're still on my list of folks I'm gonna work with. IRL hit me like a freight train. Long story short, most folks in public RP aren't here to make serious story and support trolling. The casualness is real. I feel ya on the IRL train, work has been draining me hardcore. Hope the interest is still alive with ya, it certainly is on my front.

OOC: A kind of middle story of the demon, Erel. Enjoy! Splat...splat...splat... the rhythmic drops seemed to echo inside, matching the pace of a heartbeat. 'So this is what it's like on the other side of the void.' the thought drowned out the sound of dripping blood against hard wood. "Are you pleased with the results?" A boastful voice broke her concentration. Erel had nearly forgotten she was not alone. The unusually tall Lalafell tipped his head in anticipation for her response. For a moment Erel sneered at the wound she had inflicted on her now pink supple flesh, nearly laughing aloud at the frailty of mortals. Her sneer coiled into a crooked smile. "This will do nicely...." She stopped for a moment, taking in the foreign sound of her new Hyuran voice. "...for the time being. Once I have what I desire, you will be handsomely rewarded for your service." She batted her new eyelashes at the Mage who was already silently congratulating himself on a job well done. The Mage tipped his long crumpled hat. "Remember, for now you must remain here until you..get used to the workings of things and I can ensure that the body you inhabit can function properly...." He paused, stroking his bare chin. "Though it seems the corpse was fresh enough that we won't have to worry about decay." The Lalafell pointed a stubby finger at the open wound on the Hyur's arm. "As for that, remember that you are susceptible to infection and disease here on the other side. For the love of whatever deity you..things worship, try not to make it a habit to self mutilate." Erel contorted her facial expression to that of a freshly chastised child. "Pray, forgive me. I am so accustomed to being on the other end of a blade. I just wanted to know what it's like." The Lalafell clasped his hands together and grinned almost patronizingly. "Nothing to forgive. I cannot fault you for seeking knowledge through experimentation. I dare say I see much of myself in you." Erel returned the toothy grin. "Now..what did you say the name of this girl was? " Erel turned facing an ornate mirror and peered into her now deep green eyes. Through the reflection, she could see the Lalafell stroke his chin once more in contemplation. "Gloria...Wilders? No, Wilde. Yes, Gloria Wilde I believe I heard the chirurgeon say. Poor girl, suffered a sudden sickness." Erel smiled at her reflection. "All misfortunes make way for better plans, my friend. Now Gloria Wilde will be a testament to the wonders of modern magics and you will be heralded as the man who saved the life of a desperately ill young woman." Erel turned away from her reflection and knelt close to the Mage, placing her hands on either shoulder, noticing his recoil at her touch. "As of today, Black Mage-craft will no longer be seen as an instrument of ruin. It will serve whatever purpose you deem fit. Returning souls to the otherwise departed...the people will praise you as a savior." Erel increased her grip. "Departed souls? All I did was take the one from the doll and transferred it to ...." The Mage nervously stammered. "Shh." Erel placed a single finger on the Lalafell's lips. "Accept this gift and never mind the particulars. Speaking of...where is that wretched thing?" Erel scanned the small room until she spotted her prize lying lifeless on the floor next to the bed. She held the wind-up doll, it's eyes now staring unblinking. "I know someone who will be wanting this back." she squeezed the doll tight in her hands. "Y-yes, about that..the other...where might I find her? I wish to ask her about how she..you know..for the sake of science." The Lalafell was obviously losing his nerve. Erel smiled softly. "Xanadu Noire? Leave finding her to me. But should you come across her first, keep our friendship between us. There are so many more things I wish to do for you and I'd hate for her to try and ride on your coat tails while you are on a path to such great success." The Lalafell's expression became self congratulatory once more as if some great revelation had restored his confidence. "You're right, with you in my debt, there is nothing I can't accomplish. I guess this kind of makes me your master, doesn't it?" What the small man lacked in size, he suddenly made up in arrogance. Erel could feel her Hyuran eye twitch just slightly. "In so many words..." she feigned a bow. The Mage clapped his hands together excitedly as a spoiled child would. "Oh the things we'll accomplish! First order of business is pushing out that no good charlatan of a Thaumaturge guild master of mine..I'll teach him to reprimand me for inquiring after forbidden texts!" The Lalfell began to prattle. "Now, now...master..." Erel choked out the words. "I humbly remind you that in my current state, my full potential is waned. I require a body better able to manipulate aether." The Lalafell waved his tiny hand dismissively. "Yes, yes. You'll get what's promised as soon as I receive my just rewards for my tireless efforts. In the meantime, stay here and gather your strength. You'll need it for the plans I have, my pet." The little man waddled out of the room without so much as a parting word. Erel clenched her jaw tight and with a subtle snap , the taste of copper filled her mouth. Spitting out a chunk of tooth and saliva diluted blood, she smiled to herself. --- "I can't wait to give you your just rewards.."

I only ask for a Lala since the original character who helped her escape imprisonment was one. As for helping a Voidsent only when desperate...everyone has moments of desperation and weakness :3 I can imagine Glo would have a lot of enemies so if you want to try your hand at catching her, be my guest. Before long, I imagine she'll have a Void Hunter onto her as well. Maybe you two can team up.

I'm no coding expert so it takes me a looong time to fill mine out since I have to hunt through line after line of coding to find the space I want to fill in. But the biggest problem I have is when I am finished for the day, I look at it and get self conscious about whether people looking at it will think it's bland and boring. I really want people to get a sense of who my character is and read through the whole thing but I worry that they take one look, see that it's very 'meh' and move along. (Living with anxiety over the most trivial things like this is a struggle ><)

Not THAT kind of master you dirty birdies! For IC purposes, Erel (Gloria Wilde) has a master who has helped her in transferring her Voidsent soul from a wind-up doll ,which she was imprisoned in, to a freshly deceased body. In exchange, this "master" has been promised many gifts (fame, fortune, all the good stuff ect.). I could easily do this as a behind the scenes puppeteer NPC, but I figured getting acquainted with more actual people is a better and far more interesting prospect. I also had someone who was fulfilling the role at one point but has been gone a long time (and Glo is lonely). I have been pretty vague in describing this "master" to make it less god-moddy for the person playing the part. So here is my classified ad for anyone who would be interested or think their character follows how I see this person in my head. -Falafel (Lalafell. Planes or Dunes doesn't matter but preferably male) - Black Mage (cus Voidsent things or another job is fine if you can ICly explain how you pulled off transferring a Voidsent soul). - Someone who is overconfident in their abilities and lacks the gravity of dealing with Voidsent. (A novice BLM would be great but any talent level would work well). -Someone highly ambitious and thirsts for knowledge through experimentation as well as notoriety for their works....but also wants me to do all their work.. If this sounds like your character, I would very much like to get togethaaaa! Hit me up here, find Gloria Wilde in game or I will most likely be on my main, Ari Kagon. Also, Here is my WIP wiki Erel . I'll be adding some origin stories to it soon. PLEASE LOOK FORWARD TO IT!

balmung Au Ra Conjurer Looking for RP Connections
Ari Kagon replied to Miimuo's topic in Chronicled Connections
If it's traveling RP (open world) you're really interested in, my FC does that all the time! Might come in handy to have another Au Ra helping to heal and I'm sure Ari would love to hear about conjure magics as she is a scholar and general student of life. If I see you, I will certainly stop and say hello! Good luck on your search and I hope you find exactly what you are looking for. Meant to post on this account haha hope I didn't confuse you. -
