Welcome.. I would definitely make an alt and try the RP (I'm on Balmung), you don't need any level or gear to do that. It really is an active community and I am sure many will have a very similar backstory to you. Let us know here if you do get on and we can offer to help and RP

And remember.. the other people want to RP too! And many are thinking the same. To those already RPing, just look around and throw a hook at any person that seems to be hanging at the edge. Well, I normally in my past naturally play the guild meet and greet person. There you see many new people who are unsure about a great many things. So creating that "soft landing" gets them talking to others. I would get a few days of RP with them and then smile as they ran off busy with the RP they now had got going. This is a MMO, use that aspect to create your own support into getting experience at walk up RP. I'm happy to help

Well, obviously that can be a thing, but then one should at least be aware that some people might walk away, or ones intentions might be misunderstood ^^ At least in the quicksand Yes definitely, I got from equal responses to ignored to outright IC hostility. Which was all great for RP. But I would say (toning it down a little) try and be your character and if you choose obnoxious, withdrawn or any other harder to pull off types be prepared to deal with it.

Welcome young one I too was a vanilla wow player, and I remember sitting in Brill for the first time thinking this was a huge game... boy did the world get much bigger fast! Well this is a lovely place to RP, the Linkshell hall will tempt you with Linkshells (chat channels) and Free companies (guilds) .. find some that you think you like and poke the leaders. Other than that just ask, the forums will reply.. sometimes it will make sense

I would post a gif of munching popcorn but I think that would be taking the piss too much. It's a forum it has rules and moderators to manage the smooth operation. I don't really get all this hair splitting for the sake of hair splitting. It seems the rules have been clarified to add some consistency for moderators, not much more. No one should be surprised by the moderation that will follow. Just apply Wheaton's Law and you should be okay

Here is the thing, we all look the same.. or can do. So to create a persona that can be recognised you need to maintain a consistent look. I find people who change their outfit every five minutes are also hard to lock onto as a personality, they feel more like a toon in a game. So I tend to evolve my look over time, stick to the lower level glamours and just have a couple of looks. Even in PvE I glamour for consistency and recognition. Nebula RP Witch - main RP set and based on ARC Relax - a set that is just for kicking back and relaxing in Dress - Nebbs in a dress.. it does happen Bathing - you know, at the beach Sleep - yes I have a set she sleeps in Lesser used RP sets are Pirate/Bard and Ninja

1. Since the rules have not really changed (we're just going to be enforcing the ones we have more effectively), we're not really going to offer any kind of adjustment period. However, like I said, we're going to give people the benefit of the doubt and use a lot of the "PM notification" instead of formal warnings, particularly where there's been confusion in the past. 2. If you haven't gotten warnings or had posts removed, then yes, you can assume you won't have any issues under the new policies. Two things.. apologies if they were answered but I can't read all the posts to check. 1. Will there be an adjustment period for people to understand what has changed and how that affects the current accepted posting styles? I would recommend a month. 2. Otherwise.. Can we assume if we have not had any warnings so far that our behaviour is fine?

I go yo an area in game and wonder about the stories that could be happening there. Then I refine the ideas until I have an out like for and RP. After that I get someone (s) and start the story as RP and see where it goes.
