This^ RP for others, listen to them, get them to talk, help them progress their story, provide some incentives, adapt to them, bustle them along.. etc,.. Do that and you get paid back tenfold! Welcome. I noticed the many regrets *hugs* that is not uncommon and yet we are all still here doing RP. Given what you say about Med/Heav RP and liking OOC chat I'd maybe try on of the larger Free Companies (guilds) as they tend to have that ongoing chatter. Though there are many smaller FCs that are really really nice if you can find one that suits you. Additionally the Linkshells offer great places for OOC chatter and a large group to be involved with, I'd definitely get on a few of those that seem interesting to you. Se the Linkshell section at the top of the page.

I am not one for long posts or reading long posts it's a dyslexia thing and many many years living with it. So being brief.. People will group together over a many things, and that is all well and good. The downside for me is when they start to judge those outside their self created set of norms. There is also the reverse where those outside see a collective and judge it based on assumptions. Answer.. look for similarities and positives not the differences and negative. Focus on what brings us together and not what pushed us apart. We are all part of the RP clique for a start! We are all part of the FFXIV & Balmung clique! ... and so on. Personally, I play to RP and the game is just something to-do in the gaps. If there was no RP I would not be here. For a lot of times I feel lonely I don't feel I am part of any clique and hostly I tend to be the one who goes for those people on the fringes to get them involved. What does work for me is offering to help people, listening to their ideas and just making yourself available. That way you meet people and make friends. Though exclusive partnership RP while having its up side also can mean many people are "lost" to that (I have been there myself and don't see anything wrong with it). I will happily not run roulette and daily tribes to come help someone RP and the odd dungeon, just hit me up I don't bite and I can adapt to many styles and stories. Or just for a chat.

I have managed two of your chars for RP, and you would not think it was the same player.. well done! But which one do I prefer.. that's the question? Ranuhnuh has some interesting things to get stuck into RP wise, while Kurt.. there may be a crush involved there :blush:

It is an international mix of all sorts.. and far better than many forums I have been on. If you are worried have some cake, and a hug.

Welcome to MMO RP and the server, it really has a lot to offer. It sounds like you are already out there and sampling some of what goes on.. it can be diverse I suppose the main difference with forum play is the immediacy, it is more like chat room RP with the addition of a physical representation. So you can invest a lot in how the character look and move/emote them in creative or just mundane ways. In larger events the text can scroll a lot and some jump into parties for closer RP. Do skim the RP Handbook, most of which you probably know and it should also give you some MMO side ideas to add to it. I'd recommend a Linkshell (shared chat channel) and Free Company (like a guild) that supports new and learning RPers. Though I would bet you pick it up quickly. So welcome and go get that RP... btw I am beginner friendly so feel free to give me a poke if you need help.

Seven pages since OP, no way I can process all that. So in general .. Just be inclusive, help new folks, and embrace differance as positive. Reply positively to someone you don't really know each day. If you can't say anything good.. try to say nothing. Give your opinion don't belittle others opinions. It is really a symptom of growth and time, I have seen this happen many times. Accept we will form different tribes ... Let's just not go to war.

Welcome to where it's all at for FF RPC, well it often fells like that. If you are staying here then putting up some links to LS etc.. would be great. RP wise I think most would suggest Balmung (then Gilgamesh) as the best place, though creating a character is hard but transfers do work.
