The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Nebbs replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Humanity, has a lot of garbage A lot of people seem to think the anonymity of the Internet gives them carte blanche to dig into the darkest aspects of themselves and present them as loudly as possible because they don't think they can get in trouble for it. It is a detachment, similar with road rage. People don't feel connected or responsible and their inner ego comes out and runs riot. Maybe RPers are a little more aware there is someone else on the other end, I don't know. But this kind of action without any self awareness or even self censoring is common in many places. -
What is the gear that you two are wearing? It looks stunning! Pardon me if it's common knowledge. Thanks ♥ Nebula is dressed in head = Direwolf Ranger Hat (PvP) chest = Direwolf Tabard or Aiming (PvP) hands = Fingerless Goatskin Gloves of gathering (crafted) legs = Starlight Tights (seasonal event) boots = Saurian Boots of Aiming (crafted) bow = verdant shortbow (drop) Ilwe is similar head = the feather from introduce a friend chest = Direwolf Tabard or Aiming (PvP) hands = Saurian Gloves of Aiming (crafted) legs = Cashmere Pants of Aiming (crafted) boots = Saurian Boots of Aiming (crafted) bow = the Stone Vigil drop

Yes, you're found the right place. Welcome, hate-brother, we've been waiting for you. Seriously, though, Xiaoli touched on a lot of the reasons why I left WoW and got burned out in general. I think I mentioned it in the opening post or somewhere near there too. Raid guild drama is caustic and toxic and no fun at all. And I straight up hated the "to run this raid, you had to have run this raid" circular nonsense that had quickly become predominant. LFR helped a lot with that, but it was late in coming to someone who's played since Vanilla. The FFXIV raids may be shorter. May be faster. May even be easier to learn, I dunno, I haven't dipped into it beyond ST/CT/First couple parts of the first Coil. However, it's pretty apparent the Raid Culture is here just as soundly as it is in WoW. And, really, I just don't WANT to get back into raiding. I'm happy enough dressing up my green-haired midget to look like a Behemoth in Paladin armor and running around having RPs and helping here and there when someone in a dungeon needs themselves a tank. Yes, I too fell off the WoW wagon for the same reasons. I do play it sometimes now and then but I play it the same way I play FF, except I'm in a perk guild so basically they don't care if you log in on not, there are people who have been inactive for years and can come back and still be in the guild. I reallllly love this game, it's beautiful and can be fun when you do get to have that old timey atmosphere of playing with friends. I am also quite satisfied for now with dressing my char up like a virtual dolly, and running around RPing when I get the chance! I also had the pleasure of decorating both a FC house and personal house since for the FC, it was supposed to be a surprise for when the folks I made the company with back in the beginning came back.. but I think they got sucked into a wormhole instead. Also: Holy moly at the other vent lol. That is table flipping venting there! I will also sign the "why the fell of WoW" list. -

I do this as SCH too. I take my WHM into trials and I usually just divine seal medica2 some Regen and then clEric and get to like 60% MP before I throw up shroud and heal again >.> DRg says big pulls in Sastash. Proceeds to not do any AOE while tank does big pulls and no flashes. ... sch and I just heal our dmg, doing dps and killing thi ngh s >.> When I heal it is a SCH and honestly being a Tank (I also DPS) my goal is to make people feel safe and that I got their back. If I can do that and dps fine, otherwise not. EoS can cover quite a bit. But if you want to dps as a goal, play dps. (IMHO) -

Anti-Vent! While a switched on top gear pug is nice and rips through a dungeon.. Do you know what is nicer? A group where half the people are new to it and you go through steady and they learn and everyone has fun, and you chat and all say bye at the end. -

You know I prefer to pull all before the wolves, then all the wolves. Any more and you are trying your luck with a PuG. And I use the same approach in other dungeons. Full pull it all really needs everyone present and in the right mix. -

Normally (as tank) I find it is the BLM who asks me for this, I then check with the Healer. Otherwise I generally take a view on the mix and gear of the party. A wipe due to over pulling costs more time than just taking it easy.. -

I got this so much and as a well geared PLD I knew if there were any WAR there likely they would just do this all through ST, some PLD also did this. In the end I just put Sword Oath on and chilled and let the other two play aggro ping pong. Add to that the DRG who has to run in and pull the boss/mobs, and it is a wonderful place to be. -
Ilwe falls asleep!

@Tiergan But it is just you, with that food.. so lonely. You need people around for a party.

So meaning is the action and life is the condition? Suck at meaning? Do you mean you suck at doing things? It can mean many things.. human-being to human-doing, life is a gift, you add meaning to it by what you do, do not ask what meaning life brings to you, but what you bring to life if you prick me do I not leak? it may be alive but it has no meaning And yes I am lazy and as an added extra "I'm a Doctor, not a historian!" "I'm a doctor, not a botanist." "I'm a doctor, not a counterinsurgent!" "I'm a doctor, not a dragonslayer!" "I'm a doctor, not a peeping Tom!" "I'm a doctor, not an engineer!" "I'm a doctor, not a database!" "I'm a doctor, not a battery!" "I'm a doctor, not a performer!" "I'm a doctor, not a zoo keeper!" "I'm a doctor, not a voyeur!" "I'm a doctor, not a bartender!" "I'm a doctor, Mr. Neelix, not a decorator." "I'm a doctor, not a doorstop!" "I'm a doctor, not a commando!" "What am I, a doctor or a moon shuttle conductor?" "I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer!" "I'm a surgeon, not a psychiatrist!" "I'm a doctor, not a mechanic!" "I'm not a scientist or a physicist, Mr. Spock..." "I'm a doctor, not a escalator!" "I'm not a magician, Spock, just an old country doctor." "I will not peddle flesh! I'm a physician." "I'm a doctor, not a coal miner!" "I'm a Doctor, not an engineer!" "Dammit man, I'm a Doctor not a physicist!" "I'm a physician, not an engineer!"

What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
Nebbs replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
On things like Lalafell tanks.. Maybe, just squint a bit with your imaginations and the world becomes more fantastic with Moogles and such. Suddenly great knights in compact form is not such a stretch? I get some like more realistic worlds/RP but the game itself does not mirror our RL world so you will find things to discount all over the shop. Maybe once in a while we all have to squint to accept another views. *hugs* -

What Race+Class/Job combination do you prefer?
Nebbs replied to Altitis Acquired's topic in RP Discussion
I think FFXIV offers you another way to view a character, the fact that you can have all the classes available with some xClass skills too. So I would say that you come up with a concept that you want, then see how it fits against what is available. From the specialist scholar who has really gotten to the top of that profession, down to the jack of all trades that has a bit of each. Remember the difference comes from your RP not the game skills the toon has. You decide how this goes, what level of skill etc.. With that said, my approach was to RP Nebula through that base level competency and some strengths. Her main path was Archer > Bard > Healer, such that now she is a Hedge Witch doing alternative healing, but is still handy with a bow. On her way she was forced to learn the basics of the other forms of magic and combat, she will never be the Black Mage or even Conjurer, she is a Witch with her own RP wrap. Crafting wise she can't cook and has some basics in Wood/BTN from her archer days, Gems is where she has focused and the closest I got to this was Goldsmith. Hope that helps. -
Well, I've always felt more comfortable with my mouth, and I needed to practice more- It's a book of funny Victorian pictures with cutout sections that you put your hands underneath to make them LEWD. Something like the creases of your fingers making a man's bare butt in the picture or parted legs, that kind of thing. ROFL
