  1. Yes I have a set of DOS accessories for those stupid light runs where no one waits, So I loose 1k HP, I do huge aggro 1-2-3 + CDs + the whole tanking thing, which is the real art. Seriously if tanking was easy more would play tanks.. I expect.
  2. Gratz! To you and the other half. It goes so fast.. enjoy each moment.
  3. Warrior - damage sponges, require more to heal but has some nice bonuses for backup dps and stuff. Good in low level dungeons when you get nerf-synced. if they want they can generate huge aggro. Paladin - really only a tank, with is excelent mitigation and cool downs for protection, need less to heal. Not great in low level dungeons when you get nerf-synced. Dark Knight - oooh dark, did I mention they are dark? Other tank mentions WHM - you aggro machines! They dies quite fast. DRG - okay for a short period, like an add on Titan Ex or Garuda Ex, but can think they are somehow a real tank Monk/Ninja - why? Bard - see the bard, see the bard run, see the bard keep running, see party groan. Summoned creature - sneaky aggro stealer at the start of a pull or when sneaking past Chocobo - lol.. lol.. lol
  4. Well I would say that I use it to get RPers who like to PvE into a group. Mainly that is Roulette runs. There was a period when ST started that it was also good for that. Overall the LS seems quiet, though I am UK based so that could just be the time. Most other LS I am in are quiet too. I think there is a lot to be doing in the game so people would like to join in with others but generally have their FC and/or routines. Maybe one thing that could be done is themed days, clears, relics that sort of thing. Also progress? I know statics are a pain (well they are for me and some others). Maybe there is something to do there? I would really like to see PvE RPers continue as a LS.
  5. I'm reminded of the time i ran it 60 times straight to get the Astaroth Cane @_@ That said... I love AV so i didn't mind I remember that.. you fool!
  6. I will put you on the list Liliro
  7. For Nebula she has no strong attachment, but her past has seen her interact with several guilds. Main Guilds Archers - was a member but got asked to leave, she retains good links Conjurers - did the basic training, is still a member but did not progress Maelstrom GC - member, officer, and works in commission basis investigating the strange and bizarre Membership of Archaists/Thaumaturge - enrolled and took the basics in order to have a broader appreciation of magic Marauders - learnt the axe as part of trying to walk in her Mothers footsteps Associations Lancers - took some pole training while part of the archers Botanist/Carpenter/Leather-worker - took basics while an archer Gladiators - did some basic training with her husband (Ilwe'ran), but disagrees with the whole Paladin side
  8. Have you paid your dues, Jack? (sorry name was too close - added to waiting list )
  9. Tank should say, "Well any DPS what to run off and solo go now, while me and the healer bring up the rear. Or, here is a novel idea, just do it sensibly and we all win." Seriously, crazy stunts that work 20% of the time take more time than sensible ones.
  10. You should have been in cleric stance anyway! You inly leave that as a last resort to prove that the WHM can save the day.
  11. Tanking Truths for DPS (assuming tank doing their job) If you pull the mobs first, you will have aggro and die If you pull a mob off the tank and don't let them take it back, you will keep aggro and die If you single target when everyone else AOEs and don't spread your damage, you will pull aggro and die
  12. Well you know when they die they dump aggro, it's a self adjusting mechanic. Works as intended. You pull it.. you tank it.
  13. You don't need a tank for that but quitting any dungeon at the start.. you are probably best without such people.
  14. Lilithium is a hoot, so is her LS.. Hoot! Edited due to posting overlap FreelanceWiz! What can we say! *HUG* Forum .. because .. Forum!
  15. I don't drink any more, and besides real ale.. I go for http://www.lasttrywines.co.uk/sites/default/files/Tanqueray%20No.%20Ten%20Gin.jpg[/img]+http://fevertree2.d3r-cdn.com/images/detail/503-indian-tonic-water-3-high-res.jpg[/img]+http://etc.usf.edu/clippix/pix/clear-glass-of-ice-cubes_medium.jpg[/img]+http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbview_approve/16311438/3/stock-photo-16311438-lime-slice.jpg[/img]
  16. I find playing all the roles Tank/heals/dps lets you appreciate the other sides of what is happening and makes your role in a group better. As a tank having to chase mobs as DPS can't play nice As DPS when the tank only aggros one mob As DPS when the tank keeps turning the mob around and not positioning it As healer when tanks don't use CDs or people stand in stuff or think they are a tank As Tank when you din't feel the healer is on top of your damage etc.. Play to help the team, not to max out some individual dps score or show you can be something other than what you should be.
  17. A Big Thank You for a great 2014 to the Open RP members 2014 has gone or at least on the last countdown of it's time with us. The Linkshell has been up five months and while I honestly expected only thirty or so members we rapidly grew after joining with the Intermission shell, and have been at max capacity for the last three months. What went well Well size has some benefits, but also activity. There was generally a lot of chatter going on far much more than any other LS I was in. The Leaders did a great job of covering things through the time zones and blended in most of the time and appeared when things needed it.. a big thanks to them, Aysun Demiir, Faye Covington, Gospel Gestalt, Ilwe'ran Hlaiwa, Val Nunh, Xenedra Ambreaus On a special note Ilwe'ran, did a sterling job with the RP event announcements and a lot of people really liked that. She scoured these forums and encouraged people to let her know if events were in the making. The community has been that, and covers a broad church of RP, as well as some casual PvE and RL chatter, as you would get with 128 people. We have cleared out inactive people on a 15day window which seems to work well, though i wish it was easy to check when people last logged as this is a non trivial task to do. Again, thanks to the Leaders for helping with this. What didn't go so well The initial idea was for RP focus and it is fair to say we fell short of that and the LS does default to a general channel at times. We have let this take up some space but sometimes we have had to bring it back to the initial idea. Overall after some rough patches we seemed to have reached a happy balance. Some people have left because the LS is not for them, some have returned. I try to talk to those who leave to understand why and if we could have done anything. I have taken that feedback and fed it into how the LS has gone. Excluding people (kicking) has been regrettably necessary on a few occasions. If I am guilty of one thing here is is giving people too much rope, I like to see if people will adjust to the feedback they are given and when they clearly wont there is only one alternative left. What do I think we need more of in 2015? I think in 2015 I would like to see more positive views about what people like, rather than dislike. Also more RP focus, I find that we RPers (maybe even MMOers) are very good at saying we will, but then get distracted and don't follow through. I am thinking that maybe some slight organisation may help this. Also we might as well recognise that a large number would like to also progress through Primals and Coil, so maybe we can organise something around this. Most of all I look forward to an active link shell in 2015... thanks everyone!
  18. And mention the healers Linkshell! Yes you should join that. Also Nebbs would be interested in discussing your alternative methods. She mostly takes an unorthodox approach, based on more hedge witchery and crystals.
  19. So.. 1st Understand the basics of what make a good photo, here is something from goggling and there are many http://www.digitalcameraworld.com/2012/04/12/10-rules-of-photo-composition-and-why-they-work/ 2nd Zoom the camera to frame the shot as best you can, you will likely crop it later so getting the most pixies on the area you want to keep means more definition 3rd Light - in the game try to get the well lit areas and in the day. 4th Take many shots, then weed out the best, discard the rest That should get you the good starting point for the picture 5th Now you can process the picture crop to the image you want remember to leave some extra if you are going to frame apply whatever processing you want (enhance, overlays, blurring, touch ups) frame Check and redo if not happy (feel free to try different things) Post Now, I like to keep things simple so all I use is Photobucket to host my pics and it has some very very basic processing options. It is browser based and slot and clunky. If you want you can get many others even up to Photoshop. Check out Gimp and other OpenSorce ones. I totally did photography in the 70s, loading my own film, developing it and using many chemicals
  20. @Ilwe'ran, As the one who mostly gets Ilwe wrong most of the time and maybe reacts and causes lots of grief. I'd just like to add this is not just a receptive thing but also a sending thing. You don't know you misread, you respond incorrectly and so the vicious cycle starts. I don't think it is an intentional thing just many of us who have one language (English) and maybe have other language issues, and socialisation and communication issues, just don't do well at this aspect. All I (we) can do is try and say it was not intentional. Sorry
  21. Cats Ho hi, I see you is arting, I can sit here and haz strokes now.
  22. Seems perfectly sensible, and not the first time
