Celebration of The Lover - Saturday February 21th at 5:00PM Eastern
Nebbs replied to Jancis's topic in Chronicled Events
I think for fortunes and so not as to cause queues etc, come find me and I will keep it low key. feel free to do that to Nebbs any time outside of the event too. Maybe I will just sell lucky trinkets and offer to tell you a fortune. -
*hug* There that's done. Now, I too find myself Limsa way more and more so I will keep an eye out. I also just jumped FC (because reasons) to Free Wing Society and they seem really nice and I have RPed each day since joining with them.

You can just make up your own version. Before the ceremony several people ran wedding type events. Also within the ceremony itself you can customise it a little, maybe check some videos of the different options to see if one of them would suit.

"Nebula watched the door close, leaving her alone in the small room under the stairs she had moved into. Her hand brushed away the wetness of the lalafell's kiss from her cheek, and she spared a thought, "that one would be trouble". As she looked at the door, her fingers idly traced the empty space where her wedding band had been and she shook her head, "I did warn her that ring is paired to another, I do hope she takes care with it." She then looked around the small room, where the few belongings she had managed to fill it, and a few it was indeed. "Well there is nothing here to distract me." With a sigh, Nebula got up and stripped off her clothing to something suited to a workout, then taking her sword she left the room to go find something to hit. It was good to hit something, she let her Mother's warrior spirit take over, though it used muscles that complained about the activity. While she trained her mind wandered back to a time she had spent sparing with Ilwe, and how he had tried to explain the styles to her. Somewhere along the line here tears mixed with her sweat and she eventually had to stop from exhaustion. It was a tired and exhausted Nebula who crawled on to her cot, the space on her finger reminding her that this was a different life, and so she waited for the dreams to come. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140520205502/finalfantasy/images/5/50/LRFFXIII_Blazefire_Saber.png[/img]

I would be happy to do this, or perform or tell couples their fortune. -
Your character's name: Nebula Stardancer Your character's race: Miqo'te Your character's gender: Female A bit about your character: I am sorry but I am a bit down at the moment, though I feel I am engaging to chat to. My interests are true fairy stories, songs, and fortune telling. I am a servant of Nymeia, a bard, a pirate and a witch. A bit about what your character seeks in a potential date Not seeking any love or involvement, just maybe some pleasant company while others run around all loving. Anti-Love date? Any gender, any race, and will accept couples. I can make all three dates, but will end Sunday at midnight (GMT), before she turns into a pumpkin.

Again and again she watched as her children, not yet a year from her womb, grew pale and perished before her. Since that day it was all that she could see, as she was held, unable to save them from that evil witch. The hands on her shoulders pulled at her, one firm and strong with the grip of a warrior who spoke with assertive calm, "Turn away daughter, we are three and one now." Nebula reached for the hand with a smile, "Yes Mother". The other hand was more nimble and soft, and she spoke with a charming lilt that promised delights and wonder, "Aye lass, there be new horizons for us, we are three and one now.. maybe some fun and adventure too?". Nebula could not resist a half smile, "Grandmother I sense it will not be boring." Nebula stood alone, there were no others beside her. She turned from the stone of Nymeia, the Spinner of fates, the mark of the weaving of three that are one, plain upon her forehead. The presence of her Mother and Grandmother within her was strange and yet comforting, over time she would get used to this, but for now she accepted the comfort and walked on. The old Nebula had passed on that day she threw herself from the cliff in grief, and it had been Nymeia who claimed her. Though her children could not be returned her ancestry was strong and so as befits such things the circle of three was closed and what had been foretold came to pass. The three Stardancers were now one. Now it was Nebula Stardancer, servant of Nymeia who walked towards her fate and the fate of others. Nebbs received some chocolates from Jaques and Vaughan, and was overjoyed. She then proceeded to dance with the tall dashing Bard (Nathan) before he ran off.

The IC/OOC boundary and how to approach it the SMILE way
Nebbs replied to g0ne's topic in RP Discussion
@Tiergan - regarding Intent. This is getting convoluted but I will try to expand on it. Apologies to all. There are many intents at play here. Player - an OOC intent to have fun (which could mean many things, and not be fun for others) Character - a created intent by the player to fit some archetype or other template, this is expressed through IC actions and responses, determined by the player Story Teller - to facilitate a context and interaction for others to enjoy and play their characters within For some the difference between player and character is slim, the "I play myself" brigade, and at the other end of the spectrum we have the total separation, "I'm playing an NPC" and it could easily be automated. Many will play some place between these two extremes but as this is a personal thing there is likely to always be some difference in this from one person to another and a source of some misunderstandings. The purpose of the OOC conversation is to try and create, or correct, a common understanding of what will work between players, so that they can interact. So we expect that the player has control over their character and can adjust their play style to accommodate the other players. Or they can choose to not do that and cause friction. Without this, why bother with an OOC chat? It does not matter what IC you are playing, romantic, horror, ERP, rock-suicide-road-wars, vampires-eat-the-world. The IC stuff is a made up story, not real. However, playing a game together is a real activity. I suppose this all comes back to say that , yes separation is a good thing the more you explore areas you would not explore in real life. Without the conversation OOC you could be playing with an "I play myself" player and in their world it is more real. Some people will take the interaction more real than others. -
@ Xiaoli Vorgan, Very well done .. I liked it, and GL to the happy couple!

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Nebbs replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
TLDNR So.. if you want to learn how to tank, get a good tank to take you out and watch what they do and ask them why they did that. I always try to play each role just to appreciate how it all fits together. -
Aww get better and I love meth addict roomy.. looks like it might bite if patted

The IC/OOC boundary and how to approach it the SMILE way
Nebbs replied to g0ne's topic in RP Discussion
We have no more responsibility for our character's actions than an actor playing a character, or a writer writing a character's part. Yes what Aya says. If you play an obnoxious character and push it to cause problems, or try to break other characters up.. then say it is not you it is the character.. no dice. From another angle, RP is a cooperative endeavour in which we are all essentially co-authoring a shared story in real time. This is more about intent and responsibility to be a positive part of the shared story. And that can equally be a baddie as a goody character and action. There is an ENORMOUS wealth of difference between someone RPing with you normally and someone using RP as a vehicle to harass other people (ie. Cause problems, break people up with malicious ooc intent.) They are very very different. Harassment vIa RP is already a form of IC/OOC mixing. I am not sure there is a "normal" way to RP, it is quite a spectrum. Though these are just examples to pull out the fact that characters have no intent of their own, that has to come from the player. -
I'm sorry! >< But have to counterpoint and say Strength > Vitality even at lower levels, perhaps even especially at lower levels. Even if he said he's mainly interested in BLM/WHM. Don't hate me Kage! ; ; I don't mind, I'm just of the viewpoint that in lower levels the only reason that would matter is if... well someone is a bad tank and they need the extra to help them. Reason? I've seen PLD with 300HP less than what they could have running Qarn normal drop like a worm because of hard hitting cleaves etc. For me, it's all about survivability of the tank in low level, not what they can contribute damage wise. If you have problems as low level tank, go Marauder, spam your thang and yell at the ninja or bard to gief more TP.
-
First do you like to tank, heal or dps? Tank - Marauder feels like a DPS tank or Gladiator feels like a tanky tank Heals - go conjurer, they get to heal from the start DPS - go Arcanist and then you can double up Summoner/Scholar to DPS/Heal DPS only - go back and pick another, unless you want to queue lots
-
This is what happens when you have time on your hand.. you rediscover that Fate leveling still works. And Level 49 with i45 gear quickly becomes Level 50 ninja with i106 gear glamoured out. This is her new beach comber look... yes it's a straw hat.

Big thanks Clover they are lovely, nice to see people having a good time. Also glad you could make it! What IC reason did you end up going with? Kidnapped by Pirates and delivered in a rolled up carpet as a wedding gift?

The IC/OOC boundary and how to approach it the SMILE way
Nebbs replied to g0ne's topic in RP Discussion
The line is there to keep people safe. I mean. . .would you wish someone luck if someone started stalking you? I didn't just pull that out of my hat, I have known people who that has happened to, who showed me the messages, whose addresses were dug up, whose identities were revealed. It is not good. Too, I have seen instances where predators would use rp sites to dig up young players and try to gain their trust -- also extremely bad. I'm not saying like, never allow any ic/ooc cross happen, I'm saying what Tiergan was saying -- do no harm. Don't allow the emotions the rp provokes in you to make yourself or someone else feel shitty irl. That ain't cool. And yeah, I agree that some small part of yourself will come through, but the idea is to stop it from becoming something negative. If I am frustrated by something that happens icly, I don't take that frustration out on the people I'm playing with! I don't try to guilt them, or make them feel bad, or get angry with them! Similarly, I don't blame them for what happens. I might not like it, but rp happens, and imo it's key to understand that they are playing their characters the best way they can, just as I am with mine. Being willing to communicate, and not take things personally, is instrumental to having a good experience and helping those around you have a good experience, too. I would agree with the "do no harm" but I'd also add, "be wary" and don't expect others to play by your rules. Be resilient, I wish I was more resilient. Maybe then we don't have to deal with the extremes. But I think extreme people will be extreme whatever rules you try. Heck, you should hear how PvE upsets people and that is just key pressing.. imagine how much something you created, crafted and invested your imagination in is going to tug on your feelings when it goes a little wrong.
