On Balmung things are active most of the time, the low points are EU mornings and early afternoon, but even there there are some Night Owl, Early Bird folks about. There is a big population here which I think wins over a tiny community you may find on an EU specific server (I could be wrong). Some events are arranged so you can get them late in the evening from EU, though there are some that would be ~2am+ EU times. The main issue faced is lag but if you do want to raid try out things like WTFast. I get a ~110ms lag from UK and using WTFast, which removes a lot of the spikes.

Colour me Surprised and "Gosh!" Well at first I though this was a nice picture Ilwe had commissioned.. Then there was a story and I smiled and laughed as she caught things just as I imagine them.. with more great pictures And at the bottom was the thoughts about the last year and .. well I'm speechless. Not least as I know Ilwe is very shy. I too am not one for sharing my feelings, I don't even blog. So.. hmmm.. let me see. This is clearly scheming and shenanigans on a large scale and for a most wondrous reason, and one that I find very humbling. RP partners that last don't come along often, and although this is a game it really is also an escape for many of us that RP so to last there has to be a lot of give and take. So I think that because Ilwe stuck with me through the bad as well as the good goes a long way to this. We have had some amazing adventures, mostly of Ilwe's creation. To give some idea on how much she gives, she has run three characters at the same time in rooms designed and built for just one scene. And she does that sort of thing all the time. Also she may think she is shy and withdrawn, but look at those who helped contribute. Did I mention she also is a mean (good way) Raid leader too? And personally, she has helped me through a rough year. So a big thanks, hugs and cake to my friend and RP partner, Ilwe and all those that helped. I look forward to another year. Free hugs, RP, tanking, healing and dps for all involved.

Well as a seasoned and established man of means and intellect I would think you would have such things already worked out and such a situation not to be surprising. While IC you can probably assert resources to actually get that to stick with other players can be a problem. So best would be an ooc agreement with the other player on what may happen and how it is handled. You may consider an independent GM and some simple resource and action rules (your opponent can hit you in moments, your hired help takes time to get there etc..) However, in a more open and maybe ooc antagonistic RP then you are left with controlling just your own character. So some ideas are: 1. Have extraction body guards rather than attack guards, you get whisked out. This could be before or after any fight. 2. Offset the pain by arranging to fight at a time and place, and consider a champion or a substitute (full plate can hide many things), or you could end up otherwise engaged 3. Play to your strengths and pay them off, maybe even get them to take a fall (could be gil or favours) etc..

Also check if you have "Use low-detail models on distant objects" checked or not under System Configuration > Graphics Settings.

I did this a lot in other games and in FFXIV I have done a few. I will post um my own GM notes of THIS ONE I did and also a picture story Ilwe'ran made of another we did (when I get home). I am also planning to do some more in the near future. It is definately a thing. I would suggest though that you need to overlay your story on it and maybe provide your own description. There are also some mechanics around making it more realistic and not just speed running through. The aim is to RP, not complete the dungeon.

There was a Bardic LS, but the leader killed it when it got quiet. So there are a few whould would partake of Bardical hugs.

Sometimes you need to just do other things to let the creative desires come back? Personally I find a more random and improvised RP can spark plot lines that you would never have thought of. To do this just RP with others with no plans. Listen to what they say and IC have your character offer some level if help. I find it best to think how you help enable the others RP. This builds up into many connection over time that have a life of their own. Thnk tapestry rather than a single thread. Well that's me anyhow.

Welcome! German players - yes, in fact quite an active EU crowed on Balmung where I am I'm UK but I did also play WoW, SWTOR, RIFT - and I think you will like FFXIV, it's a little different but it does seem to attract a stable base, certainly of RP I'd check out the Linkshells on the forum (see top for tab) for ones that might match your needs, and also go to some of the events that you will see posted here also.

I hope so too, I found the dress a bit meh and did not like teh way it took dye. We know what it should look like
