  1. I has been really slow for me all day. A couple of error pages too.
  2. I would have come this time around if it wasn't for the fact that my dear Nailah/Sastra is weakened after a recent attack. I'll have to consider bringing one of my alts
  3. When we know more lore, if it isn't something really restricted/hidden/secret, there's always the option of finding someone who is willing to teach your character. I'm slowly having my main learn how to use daggers (Not so much rogue, just how-to-stab) and I have given her an off-screen mentor that I mention in journals/hint to in RP. And then I let her use the blades more and more as per her learning curve, I'm 3 months in since dropping the first hint and she's approaching an intermediate state where she knows the basics but lacks the confidence and experience to back it up and make her better. Perhaps when a full year has elapsed, she'll be closer to the end goal - When I have absences from the game, like vacations, I usually assign the awaytime to specific intensive training. Planning a year ahead with stuff like that might seem slow and uncertain because well, who knows what you're playing at that point, but I like to do it even so. It's also something you can tailor character progression events/storyarchs around as well down the line. I'd imagine the lore has to explain why we haven't seen all of these things yet.
  4. Yes, I'm going to start matching up again today, so feel free to list a character I reckon I'll keep on matching whenever there's enough new listings to make it feel random enough.
  5. - Social expectations (It's the required norm to attend several xmas parties here before xmas, such as with your workplace, family, friends.. Last year I had 5 during december) - Peer pressure to eat more than you can. - Pretending everything is fine (and usually failing) - People pretending to like your gifts (and usually failing) - People saying "Oh you don't have to get me anything" .. Like.. So I'm supposed to show up empty handed when you're getting me something. As if you wouldn't get disappointed. - People not saying what they want / being very unspecific, like "Oh, clothes" (especially if you don't know their tastes) - Routines get broken due to vacation days - Fireworks way too early. You don't expect the boom. Makes me jump out of my chair every time. - Rain. - Re-broadcasting that christmas tv calendar show for kids from 199x for the 6th time, reruns so often you can't avoid it + media talking about how good it is by slightly rewording old articles. But oddly enough I don't mind the xmas music. ... Xmas is not my absolute favorite time of year.
  6. I only use it to get from fire into ice. From ice to fire, I just use Fire III (probably fire I for low level, don't remember when its unlocked) When casting Blizzard III, I also always cast Thunder I before getting back into fire. Something for when you get to that Thunder III I only use when there's a thunderproc.
  7. This is what I baked today Danish vanilla wreath cookies & marzipan-crunchies (Shortcrust pastry with marzipan in the middle, dipped half in chocolate ) I'll get the recipes in when I find English versions
  8. I'm glad to hear this is going well for people I am going to start matching up again soon, so if anyone is considering signing up do post
  9. To save the hassle of leveling one up, possibly.
  10. Alright, I'll change it up so Jethas is paired with Emma instead ^^
  11. When I went through the list I have generally taken the first name they wrote - so for you it's Ryuuza. However I can change it about if you want so that Jethas is there instead. If more people sign up/Time passes ill get about to match the other characters people listed, but for now I really wanted to get a "round one" going with the matching ^^
  12. The first matches are up. Feel free to keep signing up, but it'll be a few days before I match again. Statswise, 30 characters are involved thus far I edited the list into the OP and added some notes. Happy writing!
  13. I am going to be looking at peoples info and wiki's to make sure I don't accidentally pair people up within the same FC. Going to get a friend of mine to help matching myself up (With Nailah, anonymously) so I get the random element as well. Note: if any of you didn't note anything for anonymity I am going to be assuming your characters aren't anonymous ^^
  14. If I'm not mistaken, someone made a character in-game specifically to deal with sending letters anonymously IC. There's a thread for it somewhere around here, I could probably hunt it down if needed. Either way, that's an option if any of this migrates to in-game. Of course, since it's being done in PMs at the moment, it should be easy enough to just sign it "An Anonymous Pen-Pal" or something at the end. That would be ideal If you can hunt it down I can link to it, so it's there as an option if people want to take it further ^^
  15. Very happy to see people are still interested. I'm going to start working on matching people up - I figure that I will make a list and slap it up here, and then people can figure things out between them. As for the anonymous ones, and how exactly that would work.. I was thinking that they could go through a courier service of a sort where people have asked to have a paypal and then the courier would simply bring letters back and forth consistently between two random people (Off-screen of course). I wouldn't mind hooking said service up to my Kindred, if people desired it for the sake of being more specific. I'll be updating the OP with the list, and please continue to sign up if you want in.
  16. I think more often than not, the problematic tends to pop up when it revolves around love/relationship/flirtatious RP. I personally think it's because a lot of people have experienced the lines being blurred or completely crossed when it comes to ic/ooc and love. I've heard a lot of talk about that people have been stalked oocly because someone took the RP into the OOC realm, and I have also tried it myself. So when someone has a character that flirts with absolutely anything, I can see how one might get worried that the person is somehow having an IC/OOC bleed with it, however I would also say that usually an IC/OOC bleed will always reveal itself along the line - related to that aspect or not. I greatly enjoy the characters that can RP these things out without getting it all muddled up And I very much agree that people should not be pressing morals down on people oocly for RP'ing what they do, be it skimpy or evil or something else. That's just a bleed from the other side. How people deal with IC/OOC bleeding is different, but personally I try to distance myself from it, especially if it happens on the love-area. I believe it's one of those things that are needed for RP to properly happen, so I try not to slack on it in my own RP.
  17. A while ago, someone suggested a pen-pal project where-in they would pair up some people and it seemed to be a really good idea. However due to the OP going inactive it never got anywhere. The gist of the idea is that people can sign up and get a pen-pal for their character to correspond with, either anonymously or not. The correspondence goes through PM's here on the RPC as in-game mail is limited on how much you can type. And who knows, some day it could lead to actual RP for the characters involved. How does matching work? So, what I did in round one is that I created a spreadsheet in google docs and got a friend to help me compile information. If characters had a wiki, I would go read info about their personality, and take in other relevant information so as to guide (I am by no means a people expert, mind) the matches and make sure that the people who I am matching did not already know each other. However not all information was used in all matches. Whenever I feel there is enough signed up (and preferably an even number) I start to match people up again. If someone listed two characters, I may PM them to ask if they are willing to have 2 correspondences (unless such was already noted) How does anonymity work? Anonymity is tricky, because how exactly do you start something without saying who you are. Well, so far I've heard of a few options. 1. Use Anon Y'mous 2. Have one of the pen-pals leave a random letter somewhere and start the correspondence that way 3. Use a NPC Courier to bring the letters back/forth, knowing it's in the search for a pen-pal. Perhaps your character was feeling lonely or unchallenged in the realms of writing. 4. Be creative! There are otherwise to twist it together. In all cases I recommend agreeing on a way with your destined pen-pal before starting. Can I still sign up? Yes. Please let me know, when you do, which character you prefer having listed, if they are anonymous or not and whether or not you would like multiple correspondences (I can not guarantee that it'll always be possible) Please also write down if your character knows anyone who is still pending a match, as I want to avoid starting correspondences between people that already know each other. If your penpal has gone inactive and you want a new one, feel free to sign up again. 18. We're doing well, having a lot of fun with our themed barnights Still would love more cross-fc interaction, if anyone has any ideas ^^
  19. So I don't actually remember if gift-giving is a thing during the Starlight season, but presuming it is - How would your characters wishlist look like? Nailah's wishlist would look something like this: 1. Red wine 2. Red wine and chocolates 3. Red wine and a day off. Where as my Thala'to would wish for something like this: 1. Expensive/Exotic and well tasting fresh fish. 1.2 A recipe to follow for the above 2. Clothes or alternatively to be taken clothes shopping. 3. Jewlery 4. Fine Whiskey ((Note: Edited by Alothia-fixed the title of the thread))
  20. This happened even back when FC's were the only ones that could get houses. Small ones tended to get sold around and about. So I wouldn't call it a new trend. Personally if I had to sign over my house, and I knew that the one taking over was an active RPer and/or a friend of mine, I would not charge anything - but if it was just to a random person I would probably ask for a % of the money I spent. It would be neat if Square invented a system that lets you sell houses, even fully decorated, to others. Like real-estate - where what people pay is the price of the lot + an estimation of the interior, where most of the money goes to the owner. Rather than just down the moneysink-drain. I doubt they ever will, but it would be nice.
  21. 0DPdifFNA1Q Fitted well on one of my characters in another game.
  22. Nailah is very good at cooking - Over a fire. The results are more questionable once you put her in a proper kitchen, and she is generally speaking not bothered by the mess she leaves in her wake. She's bad at keeping her own room - partically because she doesn't really know what to put there, and /where/ to put things, so she has a lot of piles of her belongings about on the scarse assortment of furniture and the floor. She's not good at commitment to relationships, so much that she will seek to avoid people who declare any sort of love for her. She doesn't like the notion that someone might be expecting her home for dinner. Also, she can't fight - these days she's trying to learn how to use stabbers, but she is mediocre at best and doesn't know enough to effectively win a fight. Her strategy for fights generally involve one step, called running. Oh, and she has very little idea of how to maintain friendships. She internally panics when one of her friends are feeling sad. Being all like "Uhm.. So.. do I.. pat their shoulder? does that work?" She is improving slowly on some areas, as she's surrounded herself with people these days, as opposed to her earlier days of wandering alone.
  23. Welcome Nice to see another Highlander about, we don't have enough of them.
