For Nailah: Try not to fuck up. Try very hard not to fuck up. Also, to not go insane. For Thala'to: To continue on his path of not-cheating-on-your-man. OOC: I don't really do them, I'm a creature of habit. But I suppose one thing would be to keep my FC running healthily for another year, fix some of our issues and such.

This seems to be the case, I have 2 friends set for xfering on thursday so I can come back and confirm then. The catch is that the characters have to be 3 days old, before then you can't actually select them - but that's good time for levelling and getting rp gear

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Maril replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I'm in the progress of gearing up and learning how to tank, on my alt Thala'to. I'm ilevel 90 and I'm running halitali hard for first time bonus, so I can get shiney gear. For this I bring my own personal healbot (my BF) and a guildee on DPS. We get matched up with a bard who is apparently in a hurry because the "reset is soon" (50 mins at dungeon start). I explain, when he says "Pull more", That I am a fresh tank and I am learning how to buttons. The following pull I try to pull two groups but he's already dpsing the first group, making me lose aggro like instantly, which I never recover. That was the first sign of things going to shit, after the first boss he then starts to pull for me (because im going too slow, that being stopping for two seconds to regen mana. No, no manasong ) and after that we opt to vote kick him for harassment (He kept on being like chop-chop and stressing me out) However he manages to rejoin the group and is all like "That was uncalled for" and we were like "Maybe let the tank pull k?" and then he proceeds to pull again, where we then just decide to let him deal with the mobs on his own. He's all like "Oh my this is a first" and tries to reason his actions with that "He does this to normal tanks too". So he dies a few times because of him pulling, though he remains quiet and when we finish the dungeon there's 25 mins till reset - We could have gone faster if he wasn't being an ass. Needless to say no commendations went to him, where he would have gotten 3 if he had just been a regular patient dps. Moral of the story: Don't be an ass, let the tank pull. Esp if you're in a hurry. -
The Magicians Guild by Trudi Canavan is one of my all-time favorites, it was so good it put me off books for a while because I just wanted more of the same and the new books I picked up didn't meet that need (obviously) the series have a prequel and there's a continuation of it going on as well, I didn't read the prequel though and I've gotten a bit stuck in the continuation, regardless though, read it! The Edge Chronicles is what got me into fantasy when I was a kid and probably one of the series I secretly hope will maybe get a movie someday.. I never completed the series back then, but it's first up on my re-read list. I have some very fond memories of those books. I might check out Spellwright, if I can get it anywhere around here.

Welcome back! Seems to be quite a few people that are returning recently, it's very nice to see.

You're automatically assuming that we give all new players the same treatment - We do not, but we do have a limit on how many we take in at any given time, because new players often can benefit from having a sort of mentor, and to some extend they will need more help than others for a while - Recently we've taken in several, and we're at our limits with how much dedicated help we can give additional people. That might go away in a few weeks, as people learn, and usually we're not unable to take new players in. I'm sure that you can agree a guild should never promise more than they can keep. I would appreciate if you didn't call us out this way, honestly. You already started this debate on the application on our site (I wasn't home when you commented, mind.), there's no need whatsoever to take it to a public forum, it serves no constructive purpose.

I probably shouldn't reply to this but: KinRP is an FC that has a theme, a style and an intensity level that is clearly explained on both our RPC FC topic and our website. Just because we are an EU company does not mean we will take in absolutely everyone - We still require that people's characters fit into the concept, and we require that people play on the same intensity as us. We have these requirements because accepting people who do not agree with the very foundation of the FC would never have a good experience with us due to clashes in style, interests and desires. I do not want to waste someones time by accepting someone who so elaborately stated that they're not digging the aspect of RP we're digging. In my opinion, it falls upon the shoulders of an applicant to make sure they are applying for a guild that has the qualities they want to see - If an applicant does not do that, they should accept that they may get rejected, especially with FC's that has a screening process. I should also note that whilst I generally try to be nice, and answer peoples questions with the information I know, such should not be confused with being set up for an auto-invite. It seems you may have misunderstood me somewhere along the line.

Thank you very much! I swear I've been seeing members of your FC everywhere, oh man. There are like 35 of us. You could say we get around

I'd love to see a guide on various aspects of dynamic RP, if you have it in you to pull that kind of stuff out. I like making guides myself, but I never post them outside of my FC's forums, and sometimes I just feel my own experiences aren't enough or not diverse enough for me to sit down and write a guide. I think dynamic RP (Ever-changing world, consequences of consequences of consequences, the fact that you don't always control what happens to your character, why these things are good etc) is one of the things that define the heavier aspect of the RP that goes on inside mmorpg's and I figure it might be a nice read for those new to this sort of stage, and even as a reminder/refresher to others. Maybe some guides on conflict solving, designing storyarch's.. You could potentially create a sort of virtual backpack of good-to-know/essential stuff any roleplayer should get familiar with. Oh, and a guide on how to successfully RP a shy character so people can stop falling into the not-getting-any-rp-cause-my-character-faints-when-it-sees-people-hole.

I got a new bag for carrying about on errands, a giftcard to my usual lingerie store (praise the lord, anything else would have been embarrassing) and some money. I wasn't really in the spirit this year. It gets very hard when a family member is fighting a losing battle against the big C. My brother learned the hard way why you have to wish different things from different people - He got like.. SO many pairs of soccer socks.

I can't speak for the others in this, but in Kindred we predominantly have our events in the EU primetime - sometimes in the afternoons as well. But we do also have a lot of US players with us, so in terms of spontaneous and casual RP that's more around the clock really I find it all to be in a good balance as it is right now.

Yeah people have to be online at the same time for you to add them to friends, and to whisper them. As for KinRP, you need to submit an app at www.theclandestine.enjin.com - we usually reply within a few days. Since I am the GM I wont comment on if it's the best thing out there, as that's a bit biased What I know is that the other companies with EU-friendliness or EU-focus are very nice and good companies too

I think it's a very nice guide, it's good to see someone have the courage to actually post something like that as well (I would chicken out. Bok bok!) My keeper male has been involved in a polyamorous relationship before, and generally speaking he loves a lot of people in his life - He's a bit outside the cultural norm, largely due to lack of exposure to keepers when growing up - so he casts his love on both genders and has very little interest in getting ladies pregnant, which he gets looked down upon for by a lot of people in his life. Maybe it'll change someday So far I think it's been very interesting to play things from that view, and I'm really happy that one can - in some other game's RP communities such would have been frowned upon. So it speaks volumes of how mature/understanding/accepting our community can be.

The EU presence is definitely there on Balmung. Check here: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=9233 If you end up transferring, send me a tell and I can add you to the Europa Linkshell.

My reaction to Amdapoor keep HM: Inb4 they make a boss that is a bee who spawns two demon walls..

I have reached the stat requirement for 4 Star HQ Weaving! I also have gotten my hands on a rotation. There's a small risk of mats being lost, but otherwise it seems to do around 80-100% HQ depending on procs and hasty failures. The test-run I'm basing that one off is an Allagan Velveteen attempt with NQ mats, so I don't know how it'll be with HQ mats but I am thinking it helps a lot.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Maril replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I have a passionate hate relationship with Sastasha HM, because this one week and a bit I got it on my EX Roulette like 8 times in a row. The reason why is because it's usually long, and the fact that it only takes one person to fuck up to make it even longer. So yesterday, I was in there with a Ninja DPS who did not understand the concept of an add shackling you, and the concept of having to stay on the boss was also very difficult. We wiped twice, one time because the Ninja didn't kill the add that was shackling him, so he couldn't reach the boss. Presumably he just stood there going ??? whilst accepting his fate of not moving, without looking at his feet. Post-wipe (Boss gunned down the heals) it took me and another person a full 5 minutes to explain that he had to kill the add on his feet and then go back on the boss. I should stress that this person wasn't new to the dungeon. I also noted /why/ he needs to be on the boss, for the gun-shooty thing. The second wipe was then caused by the Ninja apparently forgetting the bit about how the boss guns people down and you have to stab him so hard he forgets how to shoot, there was an add on me (Wouldn't have killed me) but I was the target for the shooting, so the Ninja decided to try and save me from impending death by killing the add on me, instead of hitting the boss with me. This was then followed by the tank probably going "Fuck it, I am leeroy" as he proceeds to pull all 3 of the trashgroups on the bit before the squid, however he could not hold threat from my flares and so I died and then he died because the damage wasn't being killed. *sigh* It may seem like minor stuff but it royally irks me when people can't follow simple instructions, and also I do not like tanks who are brave beyond their measure. The triple-pull can be pulled off and it's awesome when it succeeds, but there's so many tanks try and die because they overestimate their own ability. -
Next round of matches are up now. I also updated the topic and tried to streamline it a bit. Again, if you run into problems let me know ^^

I have managed to persuade my alt's better half to join my alt on a night out for this, so it'll be very interesting to see the hosting from a couples perspective

Looking for peoples viewpoints (and also lore) on Eorzea and how dangerous it is to live in. Like, what would you say is normal occurrences, do we have some areas with particularity high crime rates, is there somewhere that is regarded as being safer than everywhere else - and how much conflict would you say is normal? I'm thinking between people, factions, companies, etc. Personally I tend to regard Eorzea to be a place where you have to keep your wits about you if you want to live into old age (as also mentioned on the lore dev-panel) and I do not tend to regard violent conflict between characters to be out of the ordinary, unless say, someone continuously gets attacked like every day for a month. Recently I have seen other takes on it though, so I am curious now as to what people think
