I have both a male and a female character, and I am a female irl. It's however more of a "recent" development to my RP, as previously I've always been like, me? Playing a male? Nooooope. Can't do that! Based on lack of knowledge on how guys work. And I know a chunk of other female rpers who have felt the same way or even still do, where as it seems more common for men to play female characters. The fact that there's more female characters has always been a thing where ever I have been playing though. In terms of how the lore is, roleplayers fortunately doesn't make up 100% of the worlds population, I also don't know a whole lot of people who let the lore influence their gender choice. It's more of a whatever floats your boat thing.

Oh my god you are right that IS blue. How did I manage to forget this

Welcome! In terms of rping as a femboy.. You may startle some people, and some people may walk in a circle around you - but I have seen a fair share of femboys on the server and there are definitely places that would take you in and it'd be completely alright. You can't please everyone as they say Generally speaking I find Balmung to have a mature, accepting and understanding atmosphere in many places. Being on PS3 will just affect your load times, and you can't really click on links and hop onto voicecom as easily as on a PC.. But if it'll make people avoid you? Nah. Honestly until I see people do obvious controller-moves I never realize they're on a PS3 I've never seen blue text as you mention it, but you can set the color for all of the chat channels in your chat settings (the little cogwheel on your chatbar). Partychat is defaulting to a kinda blue-ish color.

The fact that you can NAME your Chocobo definitely seems to catch a lot of people off-guard. Gogon's Chocobo actually had the unoriginal name "Vanilla" until I gave Gogon his proper Lalafell name and decided she needed a more fitting one as well. I'm actually rather glad it's so easy to change your bird's name, compared to things like the original number of GC seals required for resetting your class stat spread (they nerfed it GREATLY a couple patches ago) or obtaining that food item that resets the chocobo's ability tree choices. Yeah I can imagine I have decided not to rename the poor thing because it's been so long now - more than a year - and it just seems a part of the deal now, if you understand what I mean. That and I can't really think of another name I think the best combo of names I've ever seen is a player called Suddenly Spiders and then their chocobo was called Spiders

So me and Nailah's chocobo is a good example of how, when you have English as your second language, you're not always so savvy on the slang. The option to name your chocobo was unknown to me until the prompt was in my face, so I never took very long to think about it. I'm not so good with names. I asked myself, how does a bird attack (Because a chocobo is pretty much a bird) and came to the conclusion that they peck with their beaks. So I decided that the glorious name should be... Pecker. With great pride I announced this to my BF, after having hit confirm, and he burst into laughter. And then revealed to me what that word also means. I decided not to rename Pecker when it came to it, and fortunately I haven't had any complaints about it either. Just a whole lot of giggles when the following text rolls into the game: Pecker has joined the party. Needless to say, Pecker is entirely OOC. I named my racing chocobo Evil Spark, perhaps it is because of the likes of me that they do not allow you unrestricted access to names. :3 My alt Thala'to's chocobo is called Mittens, because there was a pair of mittens in my vicinity at the time (Namely in his inventory). That chocobo is IC. I haven't gotten him a racing one yet

If it gets too crowded, probably not honestly. I would imagine it might become a place where people idle a lot, they did straight up say some games are good for playing whilst waiting for duty finder etc. Might ease the load in Mor Dhona a bit, I guess. If people can live with the trolls, and it's at a level such as the quicksand where the two worlds seem to co-exist pretty well, then maybe when the initial interest surge has died down it'd be possible to RP there.

She has escaped her roots and leads a company these days, but the fact that she came to Ul'dah as a refugee when she was young will always brand her in some way, in the eyes of others and even in the eyes of herself.

Well there are a share of people who just do not like being in linkshells but they end up in them anyways. I've seen people leave linkshells over incredibly little. As for misunderstanding a debate as being an argument, I see that all the time. I think that the internet should have a debate font and a sarcasm font added in everywhere. Often the moment someone says they do not acknowledge something volatile saay.. Fantasia, whitemages/blackmages, etc in their RP is where sometimes things blow up because other people take it as them looking down on their RP, which is not a nice feeling granted, but actually it's more an expression of style/preference and not necessarily a statement of how everyone else's RP sucks (Though the latter can occur because people) When people talk lore things can get geeky/nerdy real fast, and that can sometimes be annoying to watch, but honestly unless the people talking are entirely ignoring people contributing to the debate, or it gets too passive-aggressive hostile, then I personally wouldn't ask someone to take it to private - unless the linkshells rules specifically stated that the purpose isn't do discuss lore or whatever have you that might lead people to paragraph-chat. If it's blocking all other communication I would maybe suggest it, but I find that the whole "no one else can get a word in" is mainly just because people go silent when something like that goes on. I've not seen a debate yet where the chat scrolled so fast others couldn't talk also, that only really happens at big RP events. I find discussion of lore to be a part of the RP world as a whole so, it only seems natural that such might occur in a linkshell. I wouldn't ever discuss it in shout chat for example.. Because it's then not relevant to a whole lot of other people. Where as in an rp linkshell it's more on topic if you would. If people do not want to see big hunks of OOC text, they can always make a tab that filters the linkshell out, or temporarily filter it out of whatever tab they're using. It's an easy fix. Even for FC chat you can do that. *puts two gil in a hat*

When people flirt with her in public, especially if there's other Kin-members around, and doubly more so when it's a girl. And then other stuff like un-planned un-expected cases of nudity, both seeing others and herself (if someone pulled down her pants or so?). Things that would make most anyone flustered.

http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/2wnvb8/pax_east_have_a_question_you_want_answered_by/ Just wanted to highlight this! I've already asked a roleplay related question. They note that they'll be picking a mix of casual and hardcore questions to represent the whole subreddit, so there's a good chance we could get something asked

It really comes down to what you prefer and who you're playing with. Your idea, as others have told, doesn't really adhere to lore which is something a lot of roleplayers tend to want to make sure their characters do, but you can absolutely find people out there who has a far more loose approach to lore and does embrace all of the unique-special-the-one-ness that FFXIV has so much of. You just need to be aware that it wont suit the likes of everyone, and you should perhaps try to avoid forcing it on people. I'm not saying that you would, but some people I have met get really upset if their RP isn't acknowledged by everyone around them. I regularly roleplay with people that do not have the same adhereness to lore as I do, and we get along fine because these people have simply accepted that my character can not accept some of the aspects about their characters and will, if it gets mentioned, regard them as somewhat crazy - because if I started fully acknowledging this into this characters world it would have some drastic consequences that I as a player, because of my preference with the lore, wouldn't like to see in my RP on that character. And obviously, you should be prepared for if someone sees it and they choke up over it that they might say something or ask some questions in ways that range from friendly to unfriendly, because this is an RP community after all. But yeah. If you go for it I'd recommend finding a group with similar tastes, probably among the light-rp aspect ^^

Yes please. Rift had this and though it was a bit buggy it was awezome to be able to chat from anywhere :-D hopefully it will be both apple and android friendly.

Thank you very much for coming everyone! We had a peak of 22 people doing rounds tonight and it was hectic and fun Hopefully plenty of people made friends and got some dates. Here's a couple of screenshots I managed to get:
-
Just one hour until it starts! Looking forward to seeing people.
-
The tables are ready, though some clipping issues will probably occur because Square loves to make tables in knee height. Event starts in 6 hours and we can have 20 people going rounds at any given time We've dyed the chairs blue and red, so we can call out what people will be moving tables easily

Can't help but get very moved when I see pictures of the flowers that have been laid out to honor and remember the two victims of terror in Copenhagen, had I lived anywhere closer I'd have gone there and put some myself. It restores some faith in humanity, and the spirit in the whole country is really one of togetherness and unison, everyone is doing what they can to drown the voices of the people who blame the wrong people, beliefs and so on for tragic events. .. And to keep it slightly on topic. People who take opportunities to spread more hatred. As if we need it ._. I won't say more cause it's a pretty sensitive topic. It just makes me go "urgh". Putting in a picture of the flowers - it's grown since, being in multiple layers now and reaching onto the street.

I'd poke my nose by if it's at an hour I can manage. Weekends with an early ish start time tends to work, depending on the time zone difference.
