When part of your rp is heavily explored in lore
Briggs replied to Thorbought's topic in RP Discussion
I once had a character who had a device that functionally collected loose local aether into liquid cells on his person he'd use to cast magic with. Since his own pool was fairly limited. People really grooved with it at the time. Don't see how yours might be a problem. -
Drugs, probably. Whatever gets the man rolling. What better way to forget how fucked the world is than to temporarily escape it? He also likes to whittle miniature plants, ships, and guns and paint them. Also, tea.

unrelated but you have the cutest lalafel

Moogles will literally stalk people. Hell, in this game, they're so out and about they function as mailmen. You're perfectly fine.

Dunno, but I don't think they could just pick up a rapier and go about it. Then they'd just be a black mage... with a rapier. They're either going to need to seek a mentor, study religiously on the subject, or acquire a soulstone. Can't really hand a musket to a bard and expect them to know how to reload, clean, assemble, or maintain their gun. Sure they can pull the trigger, but that's about it. It's not about schools of magic or experience there-of, it's about technique and discipline in their respective arts. EDIT: for clarification, I'm not saying an RPer couldn't go from BLM -> Red Mage... that's not an issue, I'm just saying a black mage has to learn some new tricks in the process.

Beyond Good and Evil Platforms: Gamecube, PC, Xbox/360, Ps2/3 Scifi-themed investigations, martial arts, and resistance-movements leading to uncovering government, alien conspiracies! Prepare to kick some ass, blast some losers, embarrass your friends, and dig through government trash to save everybody... or at least make living in the slums easier. The game itself isn't the longest - but it has one of the most unique atmospheres I've seen; the story itself is boggling, depressing, and ridiculously funny. The art style also really holds up well - the controls can be a little janky, but it's mostly limited to the camera. World design is super-slick and while many characters in the game fall into tropes, they do so out of pride and really work them well. Please play this god damn game I swear to god it's so much fun.

Monster Hunter World looks.... eh. It's Horizon w/ MonHun facepaint. Pokemon RPG announced for the Switch. Screaming. Mario looks like a dream. Especially the hat power. METROID PRIME FOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR! For other parties, it's been pretty abysmal, but Nintendo is spot on.

Hey folks, Fuzzy here. So it's been, what, six months since I played? Or close to that! I'm Rough Nomad, or I was. I was the Roe fistfighter gone gentle-giant. Anyhow, I'm making my return to the game for Heavensward. I've been super excited about the expansion but kept my distance as I've been so busy with college and work. Anyhow, I'm back and looking to get back into the RP and PvE scenes. I've been RPing and raiding for a long time, so if I can boast for anything, it's experience in those departments. My character now, and current main, is my Xaela, Jochi Gharl. http://i.imgur.com/qine5EU.png[/img] Before each migration, the Gharl will fill a sacred urn with the soil of the place they just camped. This soil is then dumped upon arriving at the next location. This tradition has been carried out for thousands of years, leading people to believe that most the steppe is now all of one soil. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity soon to have him meet some of the cool people here in the community. He's a pretty swell, down to earth fellow, at least by Xaela standards. I'm really looking forward to being here again. May Heavensward be a fun, exciting new adventure for all of you playing! And by all means, feel free to hit me up! I'm usually available for PvE, Leveling, or RP. fc recs are good too

Expectations and balancing of "master fighters/mages"
Briggs replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
I'm not big on physical conflict RP but when I do I typically shoot for /roll. I feel it often ends up being the most realistic path. There are times where I've done without it, but usually the fight is either staged or we're comfortable enough to know the limits of our characters and be willing be a little modest when it comes to extent of our character's physically capabilities. Honestly, most fightin' RP seems to be a clashing of the invincible incompetent and reality ensues tropes, and that while one person's character may hold great respect and value of another character's experience and/or accomplishments, their feats hold little water in an actual encounter; it's more a show of the writers' natural writing and ability to provide a good show, as well as simply be a case of the RNG provided by injected realism. That's my take on it anyhow. Then again, I've never really had a character fight specifically to win (OOCly). More to actually progress the RP and their story. If they happen to win or lose, well, details details. -
I'm not all too sure what you're trying to imply with this statement. Don't miquote fall under the umbrella subject of racial discussion?
-
Slightly off topic, but has anyone tried Persona Q? Thoughts on it?

That's fair! I wasn't aware of this. My knowledge is pretty limited purely from what I've seen here and experienced in-game. Thank you for the clarification!

The IC/OOC boundary and how to approach it the SMILE way
Briggs replied to g0ne's topic in RP Discussion
Lately, I've seen an influx in players playing dimwitted, jerk characters. I'm talking Dinobots and Drax the Destroyer levels of this. I don't think there's anything wrong with this. Honestly, I love simple characters and those who like the initiate some conflict or roughhousing are always good to have around. The issue I have is when writers only play out the dumb and mean aspect of their characters and nothing else. That's still not a bad thing; what I'm getting to is that some people play this assuming it gives them some sort of plot immunity. Because you're that lovable, asshole of an oaf, we'll (in character) always want you around. Your character is integral. Oh, he punched down a wall or berated an officer and called them trash because they looked at him funny? No biggie! ... it is a biggie. There's going to be IC repercussions for it. Most players will be like, "lol yeah, he's not too bright," and be fine with an IC demotion or time-out. Hell, even expulsion from the Free Company because that's what would realistically happen in that sort of situation. My issue is when the few, far inbetween players that put their characters in these sort of situations, get frustrated and upset (out of character) when they're told or faced with the reality that their characters are going to have to face punishment or an official judgement for their actions and that they don't get a free pass for playing to a few tropes that might border along comic relief from time to time. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of instances of this over the years I've roleplayed. -
o Personal, privatized, and affordable housing. o Appearance slots instead of glamour. o Physical build options - no, not a tone slider. o Priority Character Creation on high-pop servers for players already playing there. ... o meaning if I have a character on balmung, I can make a new character anytime. ... o other people can still x-fer anytime. o Big, beardy, adorable Ramuh-egi or chibi finger snappin' Shiva-egi. o Refined DoT tracking server. More responsive. 2 second intervals instead. o More Summoner skills that involve summoner-pet combo attacks; ... o Like a filler skill does x elemental damaged; pet's next attack deals + x damage. ... o CD deals x damage and trips foe; pet does massive damage + DoT. ... o CD consumes all DoTs on target; pet gains specific massive boost based on each DoT. ... ... o Bio is atk speed, Bio ll is atk power, Miasma is auto-atk DoTing, Miasma ll is auto-atk cleave. ... ... o Virus ignores all dmg resistance. ... ... o Lasts 20 seconds. o More open areas. Bigger cities. o More MASSIVE outer-world bosses. o Puppetmaster Class o Dancer Class

Honestly, Wildstar housing was probably the best housing I'd seen in a long time. o Affordable o Heavily customizable, even to the biome o Tons of furniture w/ little restrictions o Lighting options o LIGHTING OPTIONS o LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTING OPTIIIIIONS o Music options o Nearly everything could be scaled or modified on the xyz planes o Personal nodes, mining, farming, training modules o More... I'm contemplating resubbing. I hate the endgame but love the game. Of course, I love FFXIV and don't plan on quitting anytime soon, but its housing is a farcry from what I know and love. I'm not rich enough to afford anything more than the personal quarters you can have branched off of the FC housing. It's... nice. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just nice.

Makes me wonder what their stance on homosexuality is. On one hand, the Sun seems to foster strong, yet few, virile men where as the weaker and unsuccessful are cast out and left to either follow or waste away. By proxy, this means there are probably many single, emotionally-bare males that, by cultural pressures or revelations on their own accord, absolved to being with other men for emotional or physical satiation. For Tia, this is obviously a good thing, as well for the Nunh since it probably means less competition. However, on the other hand, what are the females views on this? Do they see it as a constructive shift and one that defers to less physical conflict and inner-rivalry, or is it, to them, as a cop-out for the weak or those unwilling to tap into their full potential? From what I've read on this site, procreation seems to be a big deal to their culture. This is for me, my thoughts on it where I try to keep any objective definition of sexuality out of mind, as the entire construct for sexual orientation seems to be a pretty minor thing in XIV. There's little evidence that attraction to any one sex, gender, or identity is met with rancor or ill judgement. The miquote just seem to value qualitative breeding over anything that can hinder the passing down of the gene pool, which is where I'm coming from with this.

I just assumed they were like the spheres in FF10. They're harnessed essence of the job; with potential memories and specialized innate skills.

I flipping hated persona 4. I despised it from the start. But this? I adore it. Everything about it. It's got a lot of SMT vibes (the main series). Definitely looking forward to it.
