  1. Val and Faye tend to be a package deal, so RPing with one generally means you'll get the other. In fact, with Val, you'll most likely want Miss Covington around. She tends to keep him in line =p So hit one of us up and we'll meet you sometime!
  2. I can't necessarily say you'll find everything you're looking for with us, but you're more than welcome to look me up in game =) I'm not sure the character is what you're looking for, but his wiki is in my signature and you're more than welcome to message me sometime for RP! I generally try to remain open as much as I can for RP interaction with others, and I do have a couple of alts if you'd like to inquire about them if Val does not fit your desires for friendship and fun RP!
  3. Like most have already said, I generally go with either a preset time for the RP to occur or the time in which we start RP. And oh god, the rain. It rains WAY too much.
  4. Heya and welcome to the server! I started RPing about the same time you did, back in 98 =) We may have even RPed in the same places! That being said, if you ever wish to RP, feel free to add me or drop me a line on here and I'd be more than happy to!
  5. Hellooooo and welcome! If you ever want to do some RP, look me up!
  6. Advertising in game would be a good idea, but I'd be far too afraid that it would attract trolls. And, if you're like me and tired of SE's incompetence at fixing their chat/spamming system, some run around with most of the channels turned off.
  7. Oh, without a doubt. I've CERTAINLY noticed that there are VERY few events. Hardly anything seems to go on aside from the "meet and greet" stuff. I wouldn't mind helping to coordinate and try to get something else going on. Edit: My problem is my availability. It's very sporadic due to life/school/whatever. Sometimes I can make it weekends, sometimes I can't. It's really hard to say. So I can help try to plan events and stuff, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to attend.
  8. I've certainly noticed it can be very hard to walk up and RP with a random group of individuals. I also attribute it to the fact that Val's personality is generally hated and disliked and don't expect people to really respond kindly to him. Also, Naih'ir, we need that one-on-one sometime I'll message you soon to try and set it up.
  9. You guys are all more than welcome to add me as well! I'm more than willing to meet up and RP with you all!
  10. Bahahahahaha <3. I need to include her unique scent more often in RP situations. With how often it rains in freaking Eorzea she probably gets most of her baths just standing outside . Haha. I can totally see that scenario, too. Val used to rarely bathe until Faye started making him. He'd likely notice more now. I can see it; Val and Denn standing around until Val's all "...Th'fuck? Someone sellin' onions 'round here?"
  11. I've found that a lot of people's characters have a bit of themselves in it, even if it's just the slightest bit. I would NEVER speak a lot of my thoughts as openly as Val does, but I can't say that I don't share the same snarky attitude as him. Some of his thoughts are me, but without the social filter--mostly when he's laughing at or making fun of someone. He's also a bit of a stickler about what he eats, which I can be as well.

Like most people have already covered, I think it's fine. It can and, likely, will be confusing to people that see your character and immediately assume "Oh hey it's the waitress!" That's.. that's really the only downside =) Otherwise I'm sure you can, will, and have met a lot of great people doing it!
  13. I've never really tried to try to make Val unique. He just is who he is and he's a personality that I find joy in playing. I don't really like the mary-sue type characters for sure and try to stay away from them, but I do like that he is incredibly abrasive and has little regard for what others think of him. He says the first thing that comes to mind and if it offends people? Oh well. He's meant to be a comedic character, but also a serious one. I think it works out well enough.
  14. This is what I've run into repeatedly. People who can take a fire spell to the face and be fine, because you can do so in game. A few times I've been told I'm rping my character as 'weak' (even though they were supposed to be strong) because I've rp'd them taking damage from significant blows thrown their way, and taking them out of the fight early. I've also run into a lot of 'cure heals everything' and even a removal of the consequence of death, because hey... lore allows for it. (As in respawning at your home point) At which point I pretty much just gave up on combat rp altogether. That was the fantastical combat I was referring to. It's not my taste preference, but it seems to be the majority of what I run into. I don't treat cure as an end-all for RP combat. When Val gets healed, he's certainly had his wounds closed--but he also still has to deal with fatigue, blood loss, and other things that cure simply will NOT mend.
  15. I tend to follow the Ayenee rules of T1 engagement when it comes to combat. I began RPing back in the Yahoo/Cheetachat days some time ago and fell in with a crowd there that helped to write the rules and, more or less, standardize the various styles of RP combat (T1, T2, and T3). That being said, here's a great guide to T1 (turn-based) combat: http://www.roleplaygateway.com/type-turn-based-combat-eden-era-t4212.html
  16. I was Alliance for the most part and rarely ever went Horde. I can't really say why, to be honest. It just never clicked with me. I have heard many great and wonderful tales about Hordeside RP, though! I have fond memories and even greater screenshots of my Nelf pre-Moon Guard back when I played on Silver Hand during Vanilla and BC. Horde RP was pretty starkly divided into: Blood Elf RP and No Blood Elves Allowed RP. One was vastly better than the other, but included about, oh, 10% of the server. It was why I spent most of my closing days on my Druid rather than any of my geared/raid toons. Sweeping generalizations and sarcasm aside, Horde RP was alright. It had some really, REALLY good, inspired guilds that did some really cool things... And then there was the very prolific 'sex slave brothel' guild. /PTSD I can certainly assure you that it went both ways. The Alliance side wasn't very different at all. You had your blatant ERP guilds and.. lol. There was that one lady that had pictures of herself and her dog. NSFW pictures.

  18. I think it tends to depend on what side you were playing on and where you frequented, along with what circles you went to. Honestly, I had a TON of friends that I played with and, quite honestly, thoroughly miss from Moon Guard. I'd give anything to find them again ;-;
  19. I saw some pretty horrid things on Moon Guard, myself. It was... well. It was something, and that's about all I'm going to say about it. I was on there for a long time =(
  20. Yes it was =) we also had a hookah going out back. That was enjoyable.
  21. I had tons of parties, but here's pictures of my lady and myself:
  22. Looks like Val's newly single. Anyone else want to try to put up with him?
  23. And you're one of them! :cactuar: Yes she is...:cactuar: YUP, SHE FO' SHO' IS. ONE OF DA KIDDIEST Val! DO THE THING DON'T DO IT, VAL. I'M AN ADULT. I HATE YOU ALL.
