  1. Kiht's solo vacation to Costa. What she does when no one who knows her is watching  Kiht probably shouldn't touch that. Hm, what to do.... Costa is always so wow... Kiht would not do this in front of friends. Lone Kiht watches the sun rise. Uh oh, busted.
  2. Kiht hadn't prepared for the meeting with Siha to turn into a stay at a shack. That meant during the course of the day, when it was her time to rest, she had removed her cloak and armor. She only wore her shirt and leather pants as she rested. She took cat-naps at various intervals when she was not keeping watch. Not because she was Miqo'te, but because she was nocturnal, and not in sync with the sleeping schedules of the others. She had spent some time polishing her guisarme and knives, eating some of Youkio's food, and wondering where the talking bird was from so she could go and find one of her own. Aside form that, Kiht was bored. However, Kiht did not complain. Irregular sleep and waiting patiently was something she was use to. When Youkio arrived and talked with Tempest, Kiht noticed the Immortal Flames coat she stuck the letter in. She let out a quiet sigh. That coat was going to be a bit big; hopefully not too big to the point where it ruined the disguise. Kiht did not regard the two much, but she kept her ears up and listening to them. She had an apple stuck on the tip of her hunting knife, and continued to bite on it. But the time for her to put on a 'show' was nearing.... She was not planning to tell them how bad at lying she was...
  3. Kiht is a registered with the Lancer's Guild. I often call her a graduate in that she has learned pretty much all of what they had to teach her except for maybe more exotic forms that were not covered. She has even learned some things not taught by the guild due to a certain mentor she had. She is also registered with the Leather-worker's Guild, but she has not learned their most advanced teachings yet. In addition, Kiht knows short-bow Archery, knife-fighting and some wood-working (Carpentry). However, those things she learned during her upbringing, and from other player characters who tutored her. She is not registered in those guilds.
  4. I check and update my wiki at least once a week. About once a month I review the whole thing to see if I need to make big changes. Recently I just made a huge addition. I thought it was a neat idea, so I shall share it. I added an "Character Journals, Stories and More" section. It has direct links to all the Town Square posts that are based on my character's story. It even has a subsection for links to character development posts, and some threads I like to reference when I think about RP for my character. I did this because the RPC is so busy that old threads get lost in history unless new posts are made to them. Unless people go back through pages and pages of history, they will never see the threads or posts. However, if they check my wiki, the links will always be bring them there. I spent a lot of time yesterday and today doing edits to IC threads and posts I made nearly a -year- ago. It was rather fun and nostalgic. I had to retcon a few minor things, but for the most part, my character's story has been pretty consistent, and I feel proud of myself.
  5. I give kudos to Verad Bellveil, Leanne Delphium, Evangeline Primrose, V'aleera Lhuil, Airka lakshmi and Alienne. The second Scales in the Sand event was a lot of fun, and probably my favorite of the Fate events thus far. Thanks for the RP
  6. Welp, that's what I get for AFKing in Ul'dah. No AFKing allowed, Sultansworn will bust you for it! And Nyxh, fine, but you have to take Osric.
  7. Kiht resisted the urge to let out a sigh. By now, she was sure she appeared very stoic to them, but she hardly knew any of them, and did not even know Siha all that well. Still, she was resolved to help. Kahn'a and Erik she knew really well, and her mind was even on that bearded Hyur. She was not going to let any of them down. However, she knew why she was never a Grand Company spy. Holy Hells their plans got complicated fast. Kiht's brain was already starting to hurt. They wanted her to do what?? Great, I get to dress as an Immortal Flamer. Kiht thought sarcastically to herself. However, it sounded like they needed her for the role, so she was going to go along with it. She would rather have something to scout or spear, but huzzah for new experiences. "Very well. Sounds like a plan." She said in a clear tone. She would need some time to process and think about everything said. Kiht found the closest wall, and began to lean on it. She gazed upon Siha, and wondered if little disciple of magic could truly be fast and agile enough to flee from Immortal Flames pursuers. Would she have the stamina? Sure Siha was a Keeper, but one who looked a little more... Bookish. Kiht took a deep breath then let out an exhale. If Siha says she can do it, Kiht would not be the one to try to convince her otherwise. The following events as they executed the plan was going to be interesting.
  8. This is actually kind of how I imagined things to go >_> The Matriarch is the only one who has children, and she keeps having children until she has at least one son (or at least a son and a daughter, on the chance she has a son first). Having a son is what guarantees the next generation, and she will trade sons with an unrelated/distant Matriarch so she'll have an unrelated male to 'give' to the daughter that succeeds her. Remaining daughters are encouraged to stay around to act as a court to the new Matriarch, but no-one really keeps them from wandering off to possibly find a 'free' male or whatever (less competition/opportunities to backstab). If a Matriarch dies before her mate and before she has a viable successor, one of her sisters can claim the now-free male and become the new Matriarch. ... I guess in a way what I was picturing was a sort of reverse of what the Seekers have when it comes to breeding rights -- a Keeper Matriarch is like a Nuhn, and all her sisters/daughters are like Tias. Since the breeding pool consists of one male, it -is- a monogamous relationship. There's just potential that a male could have multiple partners over the course of his breeding life because he got traded to a family that is prone to drama and backstabbing >_> I could not resist responding to this thread any longer. However, I do not want to derail it into another topic about Miqo'te, so I will make this my only post about Miqo'te on this thread. I have been seeing a lot of posts about Miqo'te lately. Maybe a new thread about their lore should be made? So, I would see the hypothetical structure stated by Mae as possibly viable were it not for a couple very clearly stated lore factors... Keeper males are -wanderers-. They can not be forced to be limited to one female Matriarch if they live a wanderer's lifestyle. They -are- hunters as this picture clearly says males will gift "game" to females. If a male wanders, that means he would be rather independent because the only thing that could force him to abide by anything as he wanders is his own belief system. "Miqo'te are known to be very territorial, and many individuals tend to lead solitary lifestyles, particularly males. The few Miqo'te who have made the transition to life in Eorzean society are predominantly female." http://www.ffxivinfo.com/races/miqote.php Again, stated that males are more solitary. Keepers are Matriarchal because the females tend to matters at home, and rule the family. They decide who they get to mate with as opposed to Seekers who have to mate with the Nunh. THAT is where Keepers and Seekers differ. "rarely do even the largest Keeper of the Moon families have more than two or three sons. This is not by choice. Nature merely sees to it that more females are born to this race." http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/61150-Miqo-te-Naming-Conventions Human families can get quite large. For example: Male and Female pair off. They have four children. Their children have four children each. By the time the original male and female are grandparents, their family will be TWENTY-TWO strong. However, rarely do even the largest Keeper families have more than two or three sons. Lets say the ratio is 1 male for every 5 females born. (That is optimistic). If Keepers are monogamous: Family A: Male and female pair off. They have five children, only one is a male. Family B: Male and female pair off. They also have five children, and likewise one is a male. They "trade" males. Because they are monogamous, only one of the four daughters from each family "A" and "B" gets to have children. Family A and B: Only one pair each, and each pair -must- have five children to maintain current population numbers. However, they live in a dangerous place and dangerous time. If any sort of danger hits the family, and reduces numbers, or kills their one male, they are screwed. Statistically, a pair in the example above would have to have ten children each in order to get a second male which would allow for long-term population growth (which you need in order to make up for death caused by things other than old age). If Keepers have a similar gestation period as humans, and birth one to two children at a time on average (also like humans) then you are looking at 5+ to 10 years for a second male to be born. That is a lot of work for a single woman, and a lot can happen in that time span. However, if male birth rate is even less then one out of every five, can you imagine the amount of children one woman would need to have just to get two males? This would only work if Miqo'te had litters of children each time, and the fact that females only have two breasts suggests not. Honestly I just can't see the low male birth rate, and the fact that they wander, making it possible for long-term monogamous pairings to sustain the racial population. If Keepers are monogamous, then it would only work long-term if they practiced short-term monogamous relationships. A wandering male pairs off with a female in a group he likes, stays with her long enough to get her pregnant then leaves her and wanders to the next group to pair with a new female. The lore does not clearly state how Keepers breed, but short-term monogamy, promiscuous attitudes or polyamory are the only things that make sense for long-term sustaining and growth of the Keeper population. Now, as for an on-topic contribution: The lore seems to suggest that both male Seekers (Tias) and male Keepers wander. I think cross-clan mating would be more common (but still relatively uncommon) than some might expect. All it would take is a wandering Tia to find a group of Keepers, or a wandering Keeper to run into a Seeker tribe with a few females who don't like the current Nunh. If you are more keen on the theory that Miqo'te are less traditional in current times then it would be even more viable. The only difference would be diurnal and nocturnal. There would be plenty of overlapping awake time for some bow chicka, and maybe a few wow-wows.
  9. Kiht's ears drooped low when it was mentioned that Kahn'a could be captured. She did not really know Mikh'a aside from the quick introduction at the eclipse event, but the idea of yet another Keeper likely being tortured was very disturbing to Kiht. Her mental and physical reactions were likely just as intense as Siha's, but Kiht was good at hiding such things. Outside observers would only notice the lowered ears. Kiht gave a nod after Tempest spoke to her. Kiht was to help them get information before they left Limsa. Simple enough. She waited until Tempest was done being a tempest with Youkio before replying. "I am a scout. Gathering information is my specialty. However, I would also be willing to help you all put an end to the shite individuals who set you all up. The Red Wings leader is also a friend of mine, and I am tired of people trying to swive him over." Kiht said in a determined tone. She was not sure if it was okay to mention Erik's real name since apparently everyone was going by code names except maybe Siha. It was at that moment when Kiht's restless mind began to try and think of what Siha's code name might be. Night Violet? Moon-sprite? Kiht thought to herself. She then shook her head quickly. She was getting distracted. She needed to stay focused, and listen to the plans.
  10. It should also be noted from the info in that very same link that it says it is possible, but very rare. I think cross-clan is probably more common. There are quite a few cross-clan Miqo'te NPCs in the game. And I see no reason why Highland Hyur and Midland Hyur can't mix. Same goes for the others. However, the cross-race (cross-species) combination seems a lot less common. I have seen -no- cross-race NPCs in the game.
  11. Kiht allowed herself to continue a small smile at Youkio as he told them his name. But then the bird landed on his shoulder and talked at her! Kiht widened her eyes a bit. The Hells did that bird say? She thought to herself. Did that bird just form a complete sentence based on the context of their conversation? Kiht wanted that bird. However, everyone seemed in a hurry, and she did not blame them. She also found herself making a double-take at Tempest. She was not a Hellsguard woman. Kiht did not recognize her at all. Yet, the woman was all business from the beginning. She immediately started giving directions like some kind of leader... Kiht could already tell that she would like this Tempest lady. Kiht also had no idea who the man was either. Too many unfamiliar faces. This was not going to be easy. Kiht watched as Tempest talked to Siha and Youkio, she did not seem to be well noticed. Kiht was use to that, and she did not want too much attention, but it was not the time to be shy either. By the sound of things, the Red Wings were being picked off one by one. After a quick survey of the shack, which Kiht actually liked a lot, she stepped closer to Siha and Tempest. "Greetings. My apologies for interrupting. I am Kiht Jakkya. " She announced as she made a rather formal Eorzean bow at Tempest. Kiht just loved getting right to the point. Now she would not have to play the greeting game with every single person in the shack. "May I ask which one of your comrades you think might be captured?" Kiht asked in a clear, but respectful tone.
  12. Kiht followed silently behind Siha. She had been very on-edge. She continued to survey the land as she moved with the two, but not as much as she usually would. She found herself drifting into her own thoughts. It was during the hike that she began to calm down. The tension from the mysterious meeting, the feeling of being out of her environment, the fact that she had not noticed Youkio sneak up on them and his rather cocky, chauvinistic attitude all added up to turn what would be a minor annoyance into something that got Kiht angry. She let out a quiet sigh. She almost exploded on someone who did not deserve it. It made her ears droop, and her expression soften; not that any of the two in front of her would notice. Youkio's attitude was worth some eye-rolling, but not worth the urge to spear him. When they got to the shack, his rather friendly attitude only added to Kiht's guilt further. She was relieved that she managed to restrain herself enough to where she had given him nothing more than a blunt statement back at the cave. Her gaze fixed on Youkio as he talked to them about his willingness to get supplies if needed. She allowed herself a mild smile at him. "My gratitude. What did you say your name was again?" She asked in a more casual tone. That was her attempt to be more friendly. The male seemed like an urban "street rat" to her, but she really did not know anything about him.
  13. Kiht's stern expression softened when Siha spoke to her. The Moon-sister had spirit buried under some bashfulness. It was evident in the way she spoke, and how she affirmed things. It set Kiht at ease a bit. She was regarding Siha, and almost grew a smile until Youkio opened his mouth again. Rude? The male had no idea how rude Kiht could be. Several retorts surged into Kiht's mind; including, a retort with her spear. However, she knew that would help nothing, and only make the situation worse. Kiht was there to help, not to cause problems. She had a feeling that Youkio would be nothing but a problem though. Kiht's expression went back into a cold neutral as she buried building anger under her trained discipline. She just could not stand people she saw as 'cocky'. In Kiht's eyes, Youkio fit the bill. She just stared at him until he finished talking. She bit her tongue because an argument with him would only waste more time. When Youkio set off, Kiht would wait to follow Siha.
  14. To find as much happiness as I can until the day I die.
  15. Kiht nearly attempted to skewer the the male. She was tense and welling with anger, and then that annoyance of a male appeared. However, she was not going to act in a hostile manner until she knew who he was. A huntress thinks before attacking. She was more so put on hold when Siha indicated that the male was a contact. Very little was betrayed by Kiht. She bore a mild scowl at the male; despite his attempt at charm. Her expression held, and her body simply shifted as she watched and kept track of the male's movements. Kiht looked to Siha then to Youkio. Some of what he said she understood, but other things she had no context on. Tempest? Sounded like the name of a Roegadyn Hellsguard woman. However, Kiht remained silent until Siha talked to her. Kiht nodded to Siha. "Very well. As I said, guide me into this for now. I know not everyone who is in the Red Wings, nor do I fully know your plans, but I will help as best I can." Kiht said in a serious tone. She then regarded Youkio; unphased by his attitude. "With respect, do we have time for unneeded stories? I can tell you about the time I skewered a few people, but I will spare you. If the Flames have already captured a member of the Wings, we must hurry." She stated in a calm, but serious tone then turned her gaze to Siha; awaiting her response.
  16. Kiht's eyes were wide and focused as Siha spoke. That was not what Kiht expected at all. She was almost certain the issue was something about Roen, but it was not even close. "You are part of the Red Wings?!" Kiht asked in a surprised tone. She never really knew that, and she just did not quite picture Siha as an Immortal Flames spy. Maybe it had been mentioned before, but never quite sank into Kiht. However, the question was silly. Siha just told Kiht enough for her to know that Siha was indeed part of the Red Wings. So, before Siha could answer, Kiht spoke again. "Holy shite Siha... This is not what I expected." Kiht began to pace a bit as she took a few moments to think. Her brows were furrowed in concern. She placed her thumb and finger to her chin. "Boar shite..." She said then paused. "The situation is boar shite. You and the Red Wings do the Flames dirty work, and now they try to eliminate you all? How shameful of a Grand Company. How dishonorable. Boar shite." She stated as anger built up in her tone. Erik, Osric, Kahn'a and then Siha. All involved in a mess that they did not deserve. Kiht had just recently managed to get her and her group away from the rebel life, but Kiht's old title would not leave that easily it seemed. Nymeia wanted to Kiht to be a rebel awhile longer in order to help her friends. Kiht grit her teeth then looked to Siha. Her expression grew furiously determined. "I will help you and the Wings in every way I can. Be it eyes and ears in Ul'dah, or more than that. However, I had no idea any of this was happening. You will have to guide me into this mess. It sounds like the Flames think the Red Wings are dirt on their precious record now. So, I am willing to help you all fight dirty."
  17. How long would that organization have existed prior to the Au Ra's arrival? If it's been around for a while, I'd love for the character that I'm brainstorming to be a "retired" member of it. The gist of what I've got so far for her would be a former emotion-lacking no-nonsense swordsman that decided to attempt to put adventuring aside and serve as a butler and bodyguard for rich people instead. Much more peaceful work environment. Much more money gained each day. We haven't worked that out yet. We're really wanting to see what Heavensward does to the world, and what the lore on Dark Knights and Au Ra will be like. The organization won't be just Dark Knights (it can have any characters who operate like knights), but you never know when a lore obstacle might come up, and we are much more likely to work within the lore than try to find a way around it.
  18. Half-pint of Wild Turkey whiskey. Throw blanket. 100 bucks.
  19. Kiht Jakkya is my main character and will remain as my main character. I will enjoy RPing her reactions to the new content and the arrival of the Au Ra. HOWEVER. My friend and I have come up with an idea for new alts. I want to try an Au Ra, and see how I like it. I am hoping I will finally be able to make an alt that I will actually RP with. Our concept is to start an organization of Free Knights based loosely in honor of the Darklight Raiders. It is just a rough idea so far. The character I plan will be a Dark Knight OOCly, but just a swordswoman ICly. She will be skilled with two-handed swords, one-handed swords and shields. I want to make her a lazy veteran. My friend will make a contrasting serious uptight character who will be all obsessed with being knightly. On the other hand, a lot of this depends on the lore of Dark Knights and the Au Ra. Until we see that, all we can play with are rough ideas.
  20. The first thing that Kiht noticed was the waterfall. The salty sea air burned her nose a bit, so she was not picking up subtle scents as well as she could have been. She surveyed the area until she felt something amiss. However, she would not be left wondering for long. Siha appeared, and the Moon-sister was unmistakeable even in the dock-worker's garb. But Kiht still reacted in a bit of mild surprise. Her eyes widened a bit, but she made no hostile moves. She surveyed Siha for a moment until she said her name. "Miss Kiht?". Kiht threw back her cowl to fully reveal her head, and made it clear that it was indeed her. "Greetings Siha." She said in a calm, but serious tone. The fact that Siha was there confirmed it was not a trap, but it was still a strange situation. Something was totally amiss for Siha to have set up a meeting in such a way. Kiht's posture was stable, but a bit stiff. She was ready for serious business. "May I ask what the Hells is going on?" Kiht stated in a clam tone, but it betrayed her confusion. Her attention was then completely on Siha. Her ears perked in a curious, non-hostile manner, and her eyes were hardly blinking.
  21. Kiht met with Roen Nero has a nice beach house Party at Nero's!
  22. Kiht was deeply concerned. The first letter from Siha was a bit odd. She assumed Siha was homesick, but then later remembered that she could have sworn Siha stated that she was from La Noscea. Well, that still made the letter perfectly fine if not a bit "off". However, the second letter really bothered Kiht. Why did Siha want to meet in La Noscea? Why be so subtle about the exact location? Siha is lucky Kiht had a good memory. Kiht was not going to rally her Clan despite the meeting looking more and more like some kind of trap from a person posing as Siha. However, Kiht would be prepared. Kiht's Wolfram armor was strapped on tightly and secure. Her vintage Guisarme was on a sling held by her shoulder. Four throwing daggers, and two of her hunting knives were sheathed on her belt. She threw on a basic tan cloak to hide the fact that she looked ready for war then set out for Limsa Lominsa. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kiht arrived as quickly as she could. On the outside, she looked like a Miqo'te in a tan cloak. Nothing out of the ordinary in Limsa. Her armor was made of leather and metal plates. Most of which built in a way to where very little noise was made while walking. Most would assume she just had a thick leather jerkin under her cloak. She walked at a brisk pace; heading straight for Middle La Noscea. No one seemed to pay her any mind. While out on the field of Middle La Noscea, Kiht's mind raced. Her scouting instincts were screaming at her that the meeting was some kind of trap, but her Lancer instincts were telling her to be courageous, and charge ahead. If the letter was indeed from Siha, then it must have been related to something urgent that concerned them both. Roen might have been in danger. The only way Kiht would find out was to go through with the meeting. If it was actually a trap, whoever set it had better be ready for the raging ball of fury and sharp objects that Kiht would become. "Let it be Siha." Kiht prayed as she spotted Summerford Farms. She was close to her destination. She feverishly scanned her environment and sniffed the air. She would be able to relax a lot more if she could pick up Siha's scent. The letter told her to meet at the location where Roen hid. Kiht was hoping she did not mean Summerford Farms itself. However, she started with a quick entrance and survey of the Farms then she moved off to the bridge, ramps and cave that would lead to the small area near the waterfall. Unless stopped sooner, Kiht would make it to the location near the waterfall.
  23. Kiht fights for all three, but for the purposes of this scenario, she would choose to fight for her friends and family above all else. Kiht lives by her code of honor and morality. Anyone who fits within her code is a friend. Anyone outside the code can only be an ally at best. For example, if the Garleans come down on Eorzea full-force, Kiht would -not- be on the front lines ready to defend Eorzea to the bitter end. She would be gathering all her friends she could and trying to ensure their shelter and survival. It just so happens that many of Kiht's friends would want to fight the Garleans, so Kiht would likely be beside them to protect them, not Eorzea. Even that example does not account for all factors she would consider to take action one way or another, but I think in most cases, she would act for friends and family as a primary consideration.
