  1. I mean Valk 2 is kind of cool because there are swords, but other than that it's sloppier than the original and with less charm. Valk 1 really has that outnumbered militia fighting against the odds feel. That mission where you have to fight both an ancient god person and a giant death machine with only rifles and a tank was amazing. I was always like "CMON EDELWEISS HOLD TOGETHER!" as it blocked bullets for the rest of my squad.
  2. Ughhh Suikoden. Why'd you have to remind me. Somehow the Tales games keep getting sequels pumped out, Star Ocean too. They're ok, but there are much better series they are letting whither. My favorite new IP of the past decade got fucked up as well, as they're turing Valkyria Chronicles into either anime highschool waifu games or generic action RPG. I feel you. Tales has been on a steady decline since Vesperia, so I'm not as excited about those as I used to be. And don't remind me about the rampant surge of waifu moe shit taking over once-good series! Look at Fire Emblem... Sure, they've always had that anime aesthetic, and being able to pair off units has been around since forever but Jesus CHRIST. Not like this. Never like this. What the hell, Japan. Well... at least western RPGs are good and getting better. We might never get another Suikoden, but I can play my wasteland 2s and Tides of Numeria's. I keep hearing good things about the Tales of Heroes series, but I've never played one for more than a single sitting. I should fix that. Right after I finish bringing justice to the wasteland.

  4. We're still technically alive. Like the queen of england.
  5. Sword Lady! is berserker still ridiculous tho? i was looking at sadhu/druid back then but i heard it got nerfed I have no ideas what I'm doing so I took two circles in sword lady. I'll be a bezerker someday.
  6. Hello all. Anyone else playing Tree of Savior? I'm playing a sword person on the server that starts with a K. If anyone wants to murder korean monsters with me send me a line. So far it's pretty fun to play on a gamepad like an action rpg. The launch was pretty spotty, but now that's mellowing out I'm having fun. It's in early access for the next month, but after that you should be able to do Free to Play.
  7. Hello! I run a small in character FC based out of Ul'dah. We currently only have 5 active members, but we have a house and plan to slowly grow. FC Page is here http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=15521 If you're interested, let me know and the FC leader can speak to you in character about the free company, and see if it's right for you. It's totally fine if you're new to RP, I'm pretty good at drawing people in. Either way good luck in finding a home!
  8. Well the event I was at went very smoothly, and we really made some progress. I hope everyone else has similar luck
  9. For those going to 'Fishers of Men' and need an IC hook/summary. Meet Evangeline in the Forgotten Knight, a half hour prior. If your char is a stranger we can handwave some of the details.
  10. My character is an atheist, so I am interested in this concept. I need more people to yell "SHEEPLE" at.
  11. I don't know, I think it looks pretty soft actually.
  12. Fancy Site! However as a fellow FC with Raven's in the name we're legally required to be your bitter enemies.
  13. The taverns in each of the main cities (Ul'dah, Ishgard, Gridania and Limsa Lominsa) is an RP hub. If you see someone idling on a chair or a railing, odds are they're a RPer and you can send them a /tell to see if they're interested. There is less RP in other places, but lots of events. A good place to meet people is by checking the event calendar and attending a few social events.
  14. You can just throw a dart at the board and then ask for an IC hook.
  15. I'm glad to hear about the medication. For me, anti-anxiety medicine seemed to do very little. I think actively trying to fight anxiety is empowering and has something of an affect all on its own. Taking the medicine was very depressing for me, and I felt like it represented an inability for me to control myself. That I had no power over the situation. Since then I've worked on other ways to deal with it, many of which are similar to what you describe. Another one that works well for me is talking to a non-judgemental person about the situation. "I'm not sure if this is just my anxieties talking, but I'm feeling like X" and then hearing from another person that you trust that reality might not be as bad as you feel. Helps me prevent attacks or episodes from getting really bad. Edit: For the record, take medicine if you need it. For me though at least it was more of a band-aid, and while it helped a bit with the symptoms, actually engaging with my anxiety and getting therapy was what made more of a difference.
  16. One thing I've never understood about other people's descriptions of anxiety is the need for hugs or comfort. I have some pretty bad issues with anxiety, but the only thing that helps is solitude. If I interact with people, I just end up taking out my fear and frustration on them. I've lost a few friendships this way. I just have to cloister myself until the feelings pass.
  17. Somewhere in the distance the voice of a grumpy Brass Blade can be heard, "And stay down ya great ugly goobbue." Then there is fading laughter.
  18. I mean, we're of the same opinion on this matter Verad. However not everyone is the person who has been here for years. New people come, with questions that are new to them (if not us), and they get answers that are at least somewhat representative of the community. I personally have played with people who have RP'd as primals, lords of the void, and even more outlandish concepts. I had fun RPing with all of them. My own characters do things like return from the dead, or have crushes on named NPCs, and act as if they have legal authority over other players. I am /all/ for people doing what they think is interesting, and enjoy. However people should also know that a lot of people aren't. As I said, the point of threads like these isn't to shift opinion, it is to catalog it. So that someone can see what the range of opinions are, and base their decision upon it. Coming to a consensus isn't the point. Whenever someone goes "Ugh not /this/ thread again" remember that to many on this site, this is the first time they're coming into contact with the discussion. They're not all as jaded about the question. It's a forum for discussion, not a platonic argument to find the truth.
  19. I understand that perfectly well, and it saddens me every time, because this is a terrible place for water-testing, precisely because of the results of threads like these. Where is a better place then? Reddit? The Official Forums? Tumblr? You could argue that people can just try things and see what happens, but it can be a rather heartbreaking experience to put a lot of time into a concept, only to see it shunned. Worse, it could even follow you and lead to a reputation. I agree that people should RP what they like, but I also get why people make threads like these. I also don't have a problem with the fact they're often made every year or so on the same topics, (other notable ones include, White Mages, Custom Jobs, and Primals) because opinions change, so it's a topic worth rehashing now and then.
  20. Come blow up a cult with me Aya. Snacks will be served. Also Dynamite.
