Oh, and I think the Great Teacher Onizuka and The Gokusen shows were better than the animated versions. Mostly because of cute actors don't judge me.

The movie for Space Battleship Yamato was actually pretty cool. Pew pew pew pew pew! It didn't follow the story, but it was a fun ride.

Yeah, I know, because in FF it's pointless to look at actual mechanics due to your screen not matching what is actually happening in the game, but I've been healing for 8 years now in variety of platforms and this is the only one where watching the mechanics is pointless. And I shouldn't have to use WTFast to properly play the game. I don't have to use it for any other game. And, in case you're wondering, this is why I haven't bothered to try to work my schedule around a static. There is no point. It is fun though! Though the fights sort of lose their magic once nerfs and gear come. I often see fights in other MMOs as sort of a mad scramble, everyone trying to be the best at their particular role while still doing mechanics. Raids in FFXIV are almost like a dance, everyone usually has to be doing a certain something at a certain time. It's also what makes it frustrating. Square Enix doesn't help things by making quite a few bosses wipe the raid if a single person dies. When it goes well though It's really satisfying. Though not sure I really want to put forward the time commitment for much longer.

Doubt you main a healer. During Titan HM and Ex, I would see people who were in the weights on my screen, but took no damage, while other people ended up dead on the edges of the platform from weight damage, even though all of the weights were clustered in the center of the room. On Rafflasia, everyone in my party appeared to be moving during the insta-kill mechanic. Everyone. Sometimes one person would die, sometimes no one would die. I never knew which one it was. In Void Ark, I've seen people dance in the poop on my screen on the Cuculain (sp) fight, and take no damage, while people who are visibly not in the shit on my screen died from said damage. ¯\(°_o)/¯ I have more examples, but those are a few of the most egregious. This is important because it means that if I'm conserving mana, I need to wait several seconds until the damage goes out because what I'm seeing and what's actually happening are two different things. So instead of being efficient and having a heal queued up to bomb on the person who probably just took 75%+ of their life, I have to wait because they might not have taken any damage at all. It's frustrating when I can't trust what I'm seeing and plan accordingly. I mained WHM in all of second coil, and yeah, this is all news to me. I know some people have had to use WTFast, but what I see is always what I get. Generally though I don't look at the actual mechanics, I just watch healthbars and enemy castbars. The exception are the mechancs (like the ones in Midas) that rely on visual cues rather than castbars.

"Is that guy actually standing in fire or am I confused? Wait, I just healed him and he wasn't taking any damage....oh, I guess I don't really know where he is on my screen because lolsync." Years and years of being trained to watch both party frames and my surroundings at the same time... It's like we're playing different games @_@. I've never had to deal with anything like that.

I was a hardcore raider in WoW. I raided in US Top 50 and 30 guilds. Even with their fast as hell GCD, I was always looking to get another spell out, as a healer. The slow GCD drives me absolutely bonkers. And I've had sync issues from the beginning that I've never gotten in WoW. It got better when they fixed the netcode, but there are still issues. Have you done progression raiding in FFXIV? Just curious, because I hear this a lot from people who's experience of the game comes from lower and mid tier content. Part of it is confirmation bias though, because if the GCD bothers people enough, they never get into raiding to start with. idk I'm doing a6s tomorrow /shrug I don't like the GCD just because I'm a healer and I can't account for tank's cooldowns/what things people are going to stand in. As a WHM I have.. one mini oh shit button, one big oh shit button and those only work -sometimes- depending on if the server likes me or not. Assize is nice though. I might be strange, but I actually like the precasts and such. I never raid healed on wow, but there is something about doing it in ffxiv that makes it feel almost like a turn based game. You have to map out a few heals ahead what you plan to do, since if you mess up you might not have enough time to do it. It might just be a preference thing, ffxiv has been the only MMO i've liked the combat enough to actually want to raid.

Honestly, I only hear the GCD complaints mainly from people who haven't done progression raiding. There are so many OGCDs and other things going on between each cooldown, it's not much different from WoW. The sync issues I can't really speak on, because I've never gotten them, even in 2.0 before they fixed the netcode. In anycase the biggest thing I wish FFXIV would take from WoW is itemization. FFXIV has horribly shit itemization, it's so bad that it almost feels like they should make gear cosmetic only. The there is a complete lack of Procs, abilities, or interesting secondary stats. Yoshi-p please.

Can I keep him for a week? Just have him delivered through UPS, i'll take good care of him. I probably wont give him back though, despite my question. You're actually allowed to ship live animals through the USPS. Now you don't have an excuse, Kodie. You must gimmie that lizard. Here are the instructions: http://pe.usps.com/text/pub52/pub52c5_008.htm

I learned what the term "Tilted" meant last night (at least in the context of FFXIV). I get tilted a lot. -
I took a break from raiding to take selfies. Progression is less important than selfies.

The level at which some people get entangled in it is crazy. Is it though? I do not mean to insinuate that it is appropriate behavior to get caught up in an IC romance with OOC feelings. But when it all boils down to it, you are dealing with basic human emotions. I do not condone such actions, but to me I find it understandable if someone is unable to distinguish between the two. Such as some people are unable to maintain the concept of "just friends" while others do not and want something more. The same situation between OOC/IC romance and relations. It's just that some people can separate the two and see clear lines between them, while another person may not. And like I said, I don't necessarily agree with that, but I understand. I started out playing White Wolf's World of Darkness setting, and they always had various disclaimers in each book. They varied as to content, but were all very clear about this one point: If reality and fantasy are starting to mix, it's time to put the books down, back away, and spend quality time in the real world. Losing your hold on the boundary between real life and fantasy is bad . Actually, it's worse than bad, it's very, very dangerous. I'm not willing to expose myself to the inherent danger presented by someone who cannot differentiate between pretend fun times games and reality. That's the textbook definition of a psychosis. The more I RP the more realistic Mazes and Monsters seems: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazes_and_Monsters I've had some bleed moments myself, and it never ends well. At the end of them though it's like "Oh yeah it's just a game", though it's hard to remember that when you're neck deep in drama.

If you're interested in an FC, the Night Ravens are tiny and recruiting: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=15521 We do a lot of small RP around the Ul'dah area, and are happy to help new people make connections. Poke me or Sukaretto if you ever are bored and want to make friends. I definitely get the pickup rp issues though. Lately my character has been selling cookies for charity (and by charity I mean herself), just so she has a reason to bug strangers. Having a little mission every time you go to the QS helps.

It wasn't implemented to be a "rule" as much as it is an organizational tool and a clear, unambiguous indicator of exactly where the LEP rule will apply so that users won't have to worry about not knowing where or to what the rule applies. In that case, I suppose it makes sense, it also gives the thread creator power over that decision.

I feel that this is going to lead to more arguing on what low content posting is and isn't. The discussion boards have been very civil as of late, is there truly a problem that needs addressing with this? Edit: It just seems like more rules for the sake of rules, as people don't seem to have an issue recognizing what kind of posts should go where.

I don't play him that much, but my crooked Brass Blade is always willing to be a dick. If anything ever goes down in Ul'dah (or close to it) he's more than happy to make it worse.
