The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
111 replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
All classes require such a mindset, if you raid. DPS have mechanics they need to do, and buffs/debuffs they need to put on players. The Machinist needs to watch everyone's mana and time disables. The Nin needs to cast goad for tp, etc etc. I actually find tanking/healing easier than DPSing. I can't concentrate on a complicated rotation and still do raid mechanics. DPS is too hard for me! -
I would like to reserve one! I'll send you a reference over PM!

Thanks :3 I'm wondering if I should have done it Saturday instead <_< but idk! it's a special date!

Hello All, This isn't strictly an RP event, so I wasn't sure where to put it. A year from this Sunday, I went on the first date with the love of my life. Since then, we've been together in almost everything, from work to FFXIV. We're married now, and to celebrate we wanted to hold a wedding ceremony in Eorzea. Our actual ceremony was a rather dry affair at the county courthouse, and we decided to have a celebration later both in and out of game. If you're interested in attending the wedding of Sukaaretto Ueno and Evangeline Primrose, please PM me or ask in the thread for an invitation. Friends and RPers both IC and OOC are welcome, as well as future friends The ceremony is this Sunday at 4PM PST, and if anyone is able, I'd love to see you there. Just to be clear, this is not really an IC event, it's more just for fun and to catch up with friends both old and new. I'll be creating a Linkshell (Or inviting people to FoM) during the event so we can all bullshit. It will actually be the first in game wedding I've ever been to!

I'll put down Damascus for "The Trouble with Catlizard People" For the record, did the last even count as a minor advance? I might want to shift some points around.

Klyn wrinkles her nose, "What is that burning? Is someone cooking pork?" Evangeline laughs nervously and shoves a cultist into the burning church, "Ah ha... maybe..."

Wow, I didn't know that, thanks for the heads up! It's more than just USB headset. FFXIV does not handle audio devices being changed at all. So if you normally switch between saw, speakers, HDMI, a headset, or anything else, you'd need to use a virtual audio adapter to pipe the sound to the right device because switching it in Windows won't work if the game's running. If you plan on using the headset as your -only- source for audio, then you'll have no issues. I mean, my audio jack on the top of the tower I use may be wired oddly but for awhile I had a headset that was able to just be plug and play without anything. So I'm pretty sure there's more to it but my brain is fried. All the ports on your PC use the same audio card. So as far as FFXIV is concerned, nothing changes, you're still using your sound card to produce analog sound. When you plug your headset into the tower, the soundcard decides to route the sound to the front jack instead of the back one. The USB headset uses an entirely different driver, so ffxiv can't handle the switch.

I stopped by to socialize a bit. Looked pretty fun!

Damascus found it hard to become tired of counting money. In the Jewel of the Desert it represented time, food, water, health, dreams, anything that could be bought, sold, our traded. She stacked up a tower of coins, making soft muted clinks as each coin slides onto its neighbor. The tower contained value enough to purchase a small house in the outskirts of the city. A man give twenty years labor for such a sum, stacking his coins night by night. Twenty years for such a sum, and most would think it a bargain well struck. She topples the tower, coins rolling this way and that on her crowded desk. Twenty years of life, and Master Gegejeru had handed it over as easily as his pocket change. Well, she supposes, it probably was close to pocket change for him. Damascus sighs and begins regathering the coins, fishing them out from the scattered books, papers, and inkwells on her desk. The reward from the Leve in Costa Del Sol had been generous, strangely so, but she was learning a Free Company was a thirsty beast. The Night Ravens drank money like a drunkard does wine, and it would not be long before these funds were gone. She rubs her temple, Primrose's fools errand of an airship was no where near being complete, and while Klynzahr and Alderimont's gardening was bringing in funds, it was not enough. Miss Ueno was already complaining about not being able to pay the month's bills. Not for the last time she glaces at the letter Gegejeru had sent. "Money..." She mutters, knuckle rapping softly on her mask, "And here I always thought our greatest foe would be villains and evildoers." "And here instead it is our ledger book."

It's all super subjective, but that's the entire point of the thread so I don't see why anyone would get all passive-aggressive about someone's reply. (Not you!) YEAH WELL SCREW YOU TOO PAL. (but actually  ) .
-
Glad we got that all straightened out.
-
Does it really matter? They could make me sign away my firstborn and I'd still get it.
-
This looks super cool.

You could push the button and have it just mean "Everyone write how they like." Of course that happens anyway, so in that case I guess it's the same as not pushing the button.

Alexander, & other general raiding questions!
111 replied to Branson Thorne's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Yo! The biggest thing about learning to raid is accepting that everything you likely know about your class is wrong. Like others have said, you should learn rotations, and practice them on content until you can do them flawlessly. I had to learn a lot about PLD (you'd be suprised, despite how simple of a class it is), and I still learn some every raid. I would start with EX primals like Thordan and Sephirot, doing those will help you learn your rotation with difficult mechanics, and also help you meet people. Networking is a big part of the end game scene, and at this point a lot of groups get put together just from people you've met in other content. You might find from doing Sephie Ex or trying to Pug As5, that you don't actually like raiding though. So I would try the early stuff before spending a lot of time finding a static. -
Evangeline fights in a strange blend of tactics and aggression. Her typical weapons are some sort of mechanical sword creation and her pouch of grenades. Examples of her stupid sword ideas are: Flaming Sword Really hot metal sword Electrified Sword Chainsword Vibrosword Obsidian Sword All of which are horrible things to use longterm, but if things go well she distracts someone with a spread of grenades, and uses the novelty of her blade to get the upperhand. R'elend fights in a traditional style with a towershield and blade. He circles and looks for openings, using the shield offensively and defensively. I base his style off of Roman Legionaires. Damascus is more of a tactician than an actual fighter. If she had to she could summon a rock and throw it at someone, but if anyone went 1v1 with her she'd get torn apart almost immediately.

I push the button. More RP happens because people are less scared about 'Not RPing right' Even the PVE players RP. People are Primals, Gods, Garlean Generals and Allagans. People play established characters from other games! Most people still play the same kind of adventurers, wanderers, and oddballs they do now though. Everything is chaotic and fun and great. People wade through the Sea of RP, picking what they like for use in their own personal narrative, and leaving the rest. New players feel like there are no wrong decisions in RP, and it's about having fun, and lore is more of a guideline than a law.

She was having the dream again. The dream. As always she woke up on that beach, as always it was in a body that was not quite hers. It was was not hers entirely, because she was not her entirely. Part of her had been ripped away, and like water, other things rushed in to take its place. The surf lapped at her bare feet, as always. Her body lay in the morning sun, aching as body and soul each fought to reject the other. As always. As always the old fisherman dropped his rod. As always he carried her to his cottage. As always she screamed at her reflection, banishing it with a fist. As always the blood made her retch. As always... As always... As always she awoke, rolling off the bed to her nightstand. Deftly she replaces the cloth mask of sleep with the carved wooden mask of day, and, as always, prepares to face the world.
