  1. If you can't handle possibly screwing everything up and having people complain about you, then yeah you probably shouldn't raid. Because you will, a lot. Over and over and over, and people will complain, even if you did everything right. However that's the only way you get better, and one day you'll be the person everyone is relying on. So far the only people who I've complained about are those who act like they are god's gift to ffxiv, and turn out to be bad. If someone is new and admits they're new, then I don't have any reason to complain about them if they screw up, it's expected.
  2. Is the PUG dungeon thread there to convince people not to do dungeons? Edit: Idk, I think you can complain about something and still like it.
  3. Watching a bunch of corpses slide off a sloping deck and into the sea still tops my MMO raid experience chart. I can honestly say I'd never had to worry about the physics of corpses before that point. "QUICK RAISE THEM BEFORE THEY SLIDE IN!!!"
  4. "EVERYONE WATCH THE FUCKING SPLASHES, DON'T FALL IN" - Falls in
  5. This, except ours disbanded the static, since they organized it, and poached the best of us while being measurably the worst dps among us by far even when buffed constantly by the bard to his and my own detriment, in an attempt to clear AS4 before nerfs. This denied at least 4 people their timely clear, which we were close to, and their new supergroup still failed to clear before the patch. I just gave up on the last raid cycle because it was sort of toxic. It destroyed three statics I was in, and I got tired of it. Midas is going a lot better though. I know that feel though, I've been in a lot of groups where one person is just bad, but they will never get replaced because of personal reasons (They are dating, married, best friends with the person in charge). So you just end up wiping over and over for weeks until the static explodes.
  6. Oh man don't get me started. I usually end up having to pug things here and there and it's always the same... 1) "Hey it's a farm party! I have a clear on my alt" - Dies Over and over again 2) "Hey I watched a video!" - Hasn't watched a video 3) "You never said how were were gonna do that mechanic" - Yes we did 4) "I just need to find a group that won't hold me back" - Is holding everyone back. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.
  7. Hmm speaking of that I should wear the 1500 commendation robe and the pope hat when I DR. Then people can hate mentors for real. GREETINGS PEONS I AM THE LORD OF MENTORS. BOW DOWN TO ME.
  8. Gonna have to drop out of Catlizard People! Open spot!
  9. This isn't the thread to tell your life story in aaron.
  10. The problem is if they die, you usually die too. I've gotten pretty good at keeping dps alive if they're able to keep things off me. Otherwise yeah, it gets ugly and usually ends in a wipe. Maybe someday I'll be good enough to just heal-tank Other games have heal-tank classes. Warrior Priest in Wargammer Age of Reckoning was my favorite. I'm wondering if they'll add more heals and shields to Paladin next expansion. There is actually a part in A7s where I have to cast clemency or someone dies! For once it's useful for something

  12. Sorry I'm just grumpy. I know I'm frustrating to pug with. I either: 1) Half-afk and watch anime as I barely fulfill my role as healer or tank 2) Want to get the dungeon done yesterday, and blast through it super fast (and get mad if people don't keep up) I've done a shitload of them by now, I've been mean to people. I'm the poor pug :c
  13. I MEANNNNNNN Does it really matter? It's like a difference of a 2-3%, and often the melee will get killed if they do it (Like on Ampador with the cureIV explosion)
  14. I meannnnnnnnnnnn Honestly I just don't give a shit 90% of the time in dungeons. Sometimes people just wanna watch anime and spam a few buttons. Though that 10% of the time I try to speed run it and get under 20 minutes. I'm sorry pug healers. I get in moods ok. I'll buy you a cake sometime.
  15. I live near LA, but I'm not going this year. I have to go to Europe for a wedding that week :c Maybe next year~
  16. Evangeline was afraid. It had taken some time, for its tendrils to worm their waypast her defenses of confidence and determination. Yet it had, and now, Evangeline was afraid. Fear was a strange thing you see, one that is often maligned and misunderstood. For while many things are called fear, they all spawn from one universal source. The fear from which all fears are bred, the progenitor of all the tiny terrors that haunt our days. The fear of the unknown. For five days the Inquisitors had questioned her, for five days she had sat in stone rooms surrounded by iron implements coated in caked blood and charred flesh. For five nights she had sat in her cell, corridors echoing with the screams of those less fortunate than she, air thick with the stench of cooked meat. Yet it was not only for herself she feared, but for others. Companions who went out to face fire and death to defy a god, while she sat locked in a cell. Companions who she should be standing alongside. Evangeline huddled on the straw mat, drawing her body close as she tried to force out images of the past. Instead she kept faces in her mind, the only ones she could rely on now. A Roegadyn beauty with a broken nose, a fine featured duskwight in the armor of a temple Knight, and even… Even a blonde haired Au Ra, her pink eyes forever locked in an expression of disdain. She huddled on her mat and says a silent prayer to any god that might listen. “Please.” "Keep them safe."
  17. Hey~ By the way if you want to come, just show up a little beforehand and we'll pass you an invitation. I might not have anyone on friendlist due to an impulsive server transfer a few months back <_<.
  18. I am horrible at rotations :c I can barely keep up a PLD one. Thankfully PLD do pretty good DPS these days though.
  19. Yeah I think everyone should challenge themselves. It's fun to try to get dungeons done quickly, better it takes 20 minutes than 30 or 40. Just because you can make it through a dungeon as DPS with facerolls, doesn't mean you should. Same thing with healers, try to DPS as much as you can, find where your limits are.
  20. Evangeline would meet up with AVALANCHE and they would run around and blow up Shinra buildings. It would be the best thing ever.
  21. All classes require such a mindset, if you raid. DPS have mechanics they need to do, and buffs/debuffs they need to put on players. The Machinist needs to watch everyone's mana and time disables. The Nin needs to cast goad for tp, etc etc. I actually find tanking/healing easier than DPSing. I can't concentrate on a complicated rotation and still do raid mechanics. DPS is too hard for me! Less than half of the population cares about raiding, So I don't factor that in. Every class is balanced around raiding though. So it's really the only thing that matters in regards to class strength and ease of use. Square Enix doesn't give a shit how they play at lower skill levels. Edit: Which is unfortunate at times, because there are some Classes that really only shine at high skill levels, and SE seems not to care about making them more accessible.
