  1. As Warren said, poking people on the street is often an excellent idea. You'd be suprised how open people are, and it can be fun getting lost in a plot for the first time, all without a single /tell.
  2. People still tank with Grit on? DRK is a tank? It certainly ain't a DPS like WAR. I'm past 50 on WAR and I regret that it was the last tank I leveled. WAR master race. PLD master race.
  3. Love the look of the character! Most female hyurs go for the sort of princess look, a rougher look like yours is rare and looks really good! Welcome to the RPC and hope you have a lot of fun here :3
  4. I think every sovereign nation should make the decisions that are best for it. I hope this decision ends up working out well for Great Britain.
  5. I have an unhealthy love of blackjack, and will spend a lot of time at the tables, assuming I don't blow all my gambling money on the first night. If anyone is interested in the basics I can show you the ropes. You basically have to accept that you'll probably lose about a hundred bucks, but you'll probably get half that amount of free drinks out of it, and it's a shitload of fun.
  6. It is definitely a different mindset. Often in Pugs people are loathe to call out the mistakes of others, because no one wants to be the 'Bad Guy' also people are disposable. If they're fucking up it's easier to just kick them from the party. When you get to more formal groups, and the more close-knit endgame community, people do call you out, because they need you to get better. It's not to make you feel bad, it's to make you improve, and if you don't want to improve, why are you there? That's the logic I think at least, though it can be a little jarring the first time you're seeing it. Pugs are usually deathly silent on wipes, whereas statics often discuss what caused each one.
  7. Last year the badge pickup was the worst thing ever. Hopefully they have more than two stations to handle the 5000 people this time. Thursday sounds fun though.
  8. Preferably some place that could be walked or ubered to. I would think we'd either want to meet up Thursday or Saturday night? I feel like Saturday will be the height of festivities.
  9. No you're not allowed. Why senpai eva ok fine u can go. But only because you're cute.

  11. I started playing this game for PvE (I'd never RP'd in an mmo before), and it's really the real reason I am on so often. I do love RP though, and I consider it the 'real endgame' but sadly it often takes second string to raids. The only good thing is that it makes me appreciate the RP I /do/ get more. Almost every scene is something to remember, a treat, rather than just business as usual. My old RP was more similar to a soap opera, lots of talking, lots of drama, but not much happening. RP these days is closer to an HBO series (Mostly thanks to fate-14), you only see the plots in small snippets, but what you get is powerful stuff. In any case, I also like to be able to talk about how great RP is to the endgame raiding FC's. I will however, be happy once A8s is finally down for us (any week now hopefully), so I'll have more time for RP.
  12. Hey I think there is an error on your device. It keeps replacing the word 'booze' with 'food'. Might want to get it checked out.
  13. The biggest problem I have (and this is no joke), is that people think Evangeline has the dude elezen model OOCly. This happens like 25% of the time at least. I think it's just because elezen have some of the least sexual dimophism? I even get tells sometimes asking why a male character has a feminine name. It's wierd. As for other things, I sometimes have the opposite problems with miqo'te. Quite a few characters use female models to play as Tia's, and I usually don't put two and two together. Usually to the annoyance of the other player when I call their char a girl (because I see bewbs).
  14. I typically use banknotes, or for large amounts, I describe it in other terms like: Weeks wages for a laborer, years wages, a laborer could work for decades and never see such a sum. Small house, large house, mansion. Suit of armor, trained chocobo, food for a week, etc etc.
  15. Possibly for mailing rewards? Or maybe just to see how the population breaks up per server.
  16. Yes! I'm planning to make FC crest badges, or something of that nature.
  17. I'm going~ Let's have a meetup. Also http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=16495
  18. Don’t arm the criminals, they said. Fools, they were. Bereft of vision. For who are the real criminals in Ul’dah? The rich and royal, hiding behind the ranks of the Flames and Brass Blades. Exactly. Evangeline brushes a lock of hair from her face, leaning down as she taps the delicate machinery into wood. That is the rule of this world, the powerful control the powerless, and call their oppression justice. Those women were not criminals, only victims of a war between the tyranny of the savage, and the tyranny of the civilized. The two halves of the blade fit together almost perfectly, the thin layer of gold on each having but a hair’s breadth between them. She’d tried other materials, but only gold carried the aether well enough for her needs. Too soft to use for the blade, the edge of the lance was all matte darksteel, ground to a leaflike point that allowed stabbing and slashing. The blade was long, for a spear, almost a glaive, and the area where it meets the shaft bulges out, a strange mechanism borrowed from the IronWorks new bolt action rifles. More gold traces down the hardwood of the shaft, embedded below the surface of the wood to protect it from damage. She had originally wanted the entire spear to be metal, but too much metal interfered with the effect. She was impressed with the results, despite the specificity of her orders, the parts fit like clockwork. Clearly the craftsmen of Ul’dah had skill that at least equaled their greed. However the true part that mattered, was the mechanism sheltered under the darksteel lancehead. The mechanism, that if her guests were to be believed, could only be obtained by a god and his chosen. In the end, it was simple really. The life of a materia was measured in decades, usually. The small stones filtered the bearer’s aether as it flowed through the weapon or armor, adding speed, or strength, or even focus. The more refined the gem, the more aether that could be used. However what if one did not care about the life of the gem. Could all its power be drawn out at once? She fingers the ‘ammunition’, a brass and glass cartridge. Where firesand would lie on a normal round, instead glowing blue ceruleum sloshes behind a glass viewport. Instead of lead or copper, the tip is a softly sparkling materia. This one was for strength, and rather low quality. If used typically, its effect would be barely noticeable. However she didn’t plan to use it typically. With a soft click she slides back the bolt, the cartridge rasping slightly as it enters the chamber. The bolt slides forward, the round seating itself with a metallic purr. Then, she pauses a moment, briefly considering the damage the darksteel lancehead will do to her body if it the ceruleum explodes, propelling fragments through her at a terrible speed. Then she remembers that Klyn is home to put her back together again. Evangeline nods to herself, cradles the lance in her arms, and pulls the recessed trigger. Something slides forward in the spear with a bang, and she almost drops the thing as clouds of steam billow forth. A pulsing red glow builds between the gaps in the spearhead, and then moments later, flashes down the length of the weapon. The gold inlays pulsed with power, and through them, her hand and body. Suddenly the spear seems weightless. She gives it a few practice swings, her body thrumming with power as the tip leaves red afterimages in her eyes. Then, but a few minutes later, it is gone. The red lines slowly fading back to gold. Evangeline yanks back the bolt, the cartridge flying out and lying smoking on the floor. The Materia that once glistened so proudly was now cracked and blackened, the ceruleum payload pushing decades worth of energy though it in mere minutes. Evangeline checks the lance for defects, it will require several more tests before she’s comfortable letting X’Cinna use it. Something tells her the woman will not use it delicately. The Elezen’s face slips into a wolfish grin as she slides in the next payload, this one a materia for speed.. The Radiance, X’cinna had called it. The well from which her Nunh drew his power. The bolt slams forward again, and Evangeline pulls the trigger, filling the spear and her with power once more. She’d have to thank him, he gave her such a good idea after all. People did always say gods were inspirational. Maybe this is what they meant.
  19. It is a silly linkshell Poke Evangeline Primrose in game tonight.
  20. Holy fuck, I had the densest white mage ever in mentor DR. It was wanderer's palace, and I pulled half the mobs in the first pull. They were a little undergeared, but I wasn't so it ended up being fine. One thing I noticed though, is that they kept casting cure III on me when no one else was damaged. I let them know that it wasn't a very good spell for solo healing, but no response. Then on the next pull, they spammed cure III again, ran out of mana, and we all died. I tried to let them know that cure III is not very good for single target but... well... you'll see. I still don't understand how they can't grasp that cure III does not proc free casts off of cure. It gave me some amusement after the fact at least, because I got the level 10 guildleve afterwords, which takes like 90 seconds to finish.
  21. Players are just supposed to abandon houses they don't want anymore. You can arrange for yourself to be nearby when they do so. However charging people tens of millions for that privledge is no longer allowed.
  22. Yep! It's just a place to add little objects, themes or organizations that you've invented for various scenes or plots. So someone can read through it and be like "Oh, I need a history book, that sounds cool." Stuff like that.
