Wait... Astrological powers... divining deck... IS THIS JUST A RENAMED ORACLE WITH A WEIRD ASS WEAPON? I WILL INTERNALLY SAID I CALLED IT WAY BACK WHEN WE THOUGHT SAMURAI WAS STILL A THING.

Astrologian? Makes sense with all the Ishgard stuff we've seen so far - Observatorium and all that. If it's quirky enough I'll rock it.

Last year I took 3 weeks off for Christmas (first two weeks it was announced we weren't working until we TOTALLY WERE which is something we learned around Friday 5:00 PM... which honestly sits so badly with me I just put myself as unavailable for the two weeks they said we had off anyway, and I wanted to take the other week off for the sole purpose of AGDQ and there was no reason for me NOT to take 'em for that purpose anyway). I guess it'll suck to not do that this year? 3 weeks off was a fucking godsend.

That's a load of bull

All Christmas music could be improved by giving it the CVS Bangers treatment. Any christmas song that doesn't have airhorns, gunshots, and a computer-modified voice telling me to RE-TWEET IF YOU'RE FEELING THIS is not a a christmas song you should play in my vicinity. Having to pretend like my family has interesting lives, opinions and aren't bigoted as fuck is also REAL PLEASANT. Parents asking "but what do you want for christmas?" and having to answer that since they don't know shit about anything I'd want I'd be better off buying it myself than get something they'd get for me. Other drivers in snow.

The Vent Tent - Poor PuGs and Other Terrible Tales
Kellach Woods replied to Gegenji's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I'll typically do Tom/Provoke/Tom myself because I tend to be super TP conservative for moments like these. And yeah, I don't think tanking is for me in this game. I do like to play fast and loose but I like weird mechanics. Like, when I realized that I finally got blind on my Flash for GLA I was like "SWEET MERCIFUL DAMAGE MITIGATION THROUGH STATUS EFFECTS WHAAAAA THAT'S SO COOL!" when I know fully well that's not how it plays. So far, none of the tank classes have that, although PLD seems more structured. I might dip my hand in there eventually but I fear I'll have to have a boring Cross-Class loadout because half of the cool shit you'd want will be covered by the Healer anyway. I hate Berserk like the plague and almost never use it. I like having access to my abilities at all times way too much for it to be reliable, and if I've learned something in this game is that relying on others is just the best way to be disappointed. I guess I also exaggerate how much I lose threat on stuff too - I typically run OT on Syrcus because while I still lose threat sometimes, I'd still like to think I'm useful on 2nd/3rd pull on the adds. but then again I am ass at this game so w/e. -

All right. I will tell you WTF IS THE PROBLEM because apparently nobody tanks as warrior here. It's not in threat gen, but rather just how much of an afterthought WAR tanking actually is when it comes to design. Overpower : Great tool, costs 130 TP, can be mashed, does not grant wrath stacks. Steel Cyclone : GREATEST TOOL, better in every way than Overpower, costs 5 Wrath stacks In short, if you're AoE tanking, you have to do single target until you get a chance to Steel Cyclone if your Infuriate is down or spam Overpower, where you will never see a Steel Cyclone again. The problem is that since you're doing single target, you're not hitting the fuckers on the side. Who are the problem since they'll rush off to the squishies doing AoE burn or healing like mad (or better yet, overhealing.) If you're doing Overpower over and over again, you run out of TP (and NINs don't goad because fuck you that's why) and can't keep them up. Either that or I blow at threat gen, which is a MUCH HIGHER POSSIBILITY. -

It always does. Like, I'm not even remotely competent. You just pick up certain tricks after running the damn thing 30 times in a week. -

"Doesn't matter it's Syrcus it's easy huehue" Yes, yes it is. Which is why it is a PERFECT TRAINING GROUND FOR REFINING TECHNIQUES FOR THOSE OF US WHO DON'T RAID ALL THAT OFTEN (other than Syrcus) OR PRACTICING COMBOS OR ABILITY TIMINGS OR EVEN REALIZING THAT THERE ARE MICRO ADJUSTMENTS THAT YOU CAN MAKE TO RUNS THAT MAKE THEM BECOME INCREDIBLY LESS HARD (knowledge that is actually applicable to the Cuddles of Buttamut - aka always learn you swaggerless cretin). Which is why I still take it seriously even if I could faceroll it in my sleep at this point (In fact I think I did that in my last run last night). So when I see someone pull a boss without waiting for group because it's "so easy" (and they end up wiping the part of the raid that actually made it before they jumped the gun) or dick around and say exactly that, I get internally angry. EDIT: It's gotten to the point where I've kind of taken a role of "saving Syrcus runs" whenever something bad happens. I tend to be lucky enough to be paired with decent healers who realize that I've taken over whatever tanking duty was present. And I happen to be the only person in the run that cares about people taking damage. -

A note to trigger-happy DPS (mainly BLM since they can put up the hurt faster than others). I am a full-service tank. I offer my tanking "services" for your convenience. I am also somewhat friendly and will offer any knowledge I know about the game which admittedly isn't quite as large as many out there (although I know how to make sure Amon doesn't goddamn move after Curtain Call, PUG Syrcus MTs I've encountered). As such, I happen to like positioning the mobs' asses in your face. Less/No misses, less distance to travel between positioning attacks, less chance of you standing where you're not supposed to, more pew pew, less time wasted. If the threat threshold is crossed, the mob will queue its next attack with you in mind, screwing up ALL of my positioning work to make it more convenient for you even if my next queued attack will bring it back to me. Then I have to burn a Provoke to save your sorry ass or to stop your whining about how I can't hold threat. Also, SE, when are we getting an AoE that builds Wrath? Never? K thx. -

I went through a character crisis in Ultra - First went to Poison, then T.Hawk, then Yun, then back to my main in 1.04 after trying him out aka the worst character in the game, DEE JAY. Although I want to keep a pocket Hawk and Poison. * * * So, did Syrcus again - Someone failed at Imperium (they misplaced it so that they were the only one to take the hit so they died) so I'm like "Busy smashing this boss will explain later." They say 'k. Then they get their loot and bail. While I'm trying to type out an explanation that is succinct and explains every corner of that ability. Worst part is, this isn't the first time this happened when I was in a group (I do a lot of Syrcus... I mean a lot) and I'm like... WELP. -

Fighting games? Just curious. A-yup. We play over breaks and lunch at work, so any stragglers we have to teach from the ground up. (mostly USF4, except on Thursdays for Tekken Tag Thursdays) -

I find myself reteaching people how to do quarter-circle-forwards at least once a year (think this year will be the first time I'll be paid for it, but that's another subject entirely). Shit's easy for me and a lot of other people. Not so for others. WHAT IS EASY FOR YOU MAY BE HARD FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO LEARN (also this game requires that you understand the holy trinity because it does not explain that at all) That is not a difficult concept. * * * Game decided to crash on boot again. (It wasn't the game, it was my own dumbass self's fault this time) -

Check out my sig. WTF is up with that drop rate, yo? also this thread turned into a shithole pretty fast. The other 95% of the game will just try and get rid of them or not explain shit. Welcome to MMOs. -

Oh, FFXIV housing market. You were poorly designed from the get-go, and it's only made people miserable.

In my personal experience, each time I've seen someone act like a complete asshole in RP, they turned out to be a complete asshole OOC. It got to a point where I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, but there's only so much benefit and so much doubt to give. That doesn't mean the assholes are always assholes IC (It'd be too easy to pick 'em out of a crowd) - just that I've observed a similitude. Also, bad RP isn't being a dick. It's just bad RP - some of the nicest people I've ever met are atrocious RPers.

This idea was great, it ended up never happening and considering I signed up for the first thread I may as well sign up for this one. Let's go with Kell, he needs to know more people. Anon or no. Weird shit happens in Kell's life enough that having a random moogle pop in with a letter would actually be relatively tame.
