  1. Dig seeing Overpower for the next 49 levels! The most awesome axe attacks are all in WAR anyway. The only "police force" that doesn't have a singular class representing it is the Wailers because IIRC I've seen a few with bows but I'm not in game right now so I can't check. Technically, Ul'dah could have some pugilists in there if they really wanted to, but I guess they chose the blade because it's easier to see than a bunch of knucks/fists/claws/katars on the side. Thing is, Limsa is lacking a 2nd Disciple of War class based in the city, which is something both Gridania and Ul'dah have. So there can't be that much variety.
  2. I ended up quitting two games because of shit like this. I feel your pain, and I can tell you it's just not worth the stress to spare their feelings on that.
  3. IIRC there's another implication in Ul'dah's storyline but since I'm replaying through that on another character I'll be able to properly evaluate whether that happened or not. I distinctly remember thinking "they seriously went there? AGAIN? (I'd just done Little Ala Mhigo)" Same with Coerthas (although that one is in a while). Coerthas in a nutshell : "We hate you. Go away." Really wish we had another zone in that level range so I could actually leave them to their troubles.
  4. Dang the talents in this communityyyyy. Anyway, I've been doing pro wrestling for 6 years, and this year will sadly be my last.
  5. Was fun. I didn't do much but still! Also made me realize I need better clothing.
  6. I believe I need to stay away from this LS. Else I'd give in.
  7. Also keep in mind that a lot of players just hear "So and so is best class/rotation" and leave it at that without any exploration whatsoever. Also, even if it is actually best class/rotation, there's execution, gear, etc. to take into account before even considering a swap, utility, etc. Generally, if you find you're floundering, it has more to do with upping your own game than the game itself unless you're at the very bleeding edge of end-game.
  8. If they mention it, it bumps up the rating to Mature due to the game having sexual content rather than suggestive content. Wouldn't even surprise me if the skirting around the issue is outright because of that consideration rather than anything else, even if it's really, really bad how often that trope is used in FFXIV. Count me in the "Fuck Ishgarde" camp. Originally I wanted to make a Duskwight that really didn't like the Gridanians but still tolerated them but because of Ul'dah's city storyline and Ishgarde I pretty much went "Welp he hates everyone he'd sell the whole continent out to Garland if it wasn't for the fact that he hates them even more than the rest of these assholes." Honestly, when the deal with the Ixal happened and the only non-Ishgardian at that camp wanted to help them I wanted to say fuck them. Let the Ixal wipe that nation off the face of the planet there is nothing good that can come out of Ishgarde ever. If they do it (I remember them doing it kind of but I'm not too sure myself anymore), it's very well hidden and more as a way of saying "Your gender doesn't matter for stats so you don't need to change gender for minmaxing" rather than make a statement about the game world. Which is really bad - they could have done better but I'm not expecting Square-Enix to do anything remotely good on that issue at this point.
  9. Kellach wasn't looking at much of anyone. Unlike most of these patrons, he didn't know anyone here. Instead he stared off in the air, nodding and answering questions that fell into this collective whisper that the ambient air was generating. "I don't really have anything like that. I guess I would say my axe because without it I can't really fight but it's not that important in a sense. Not like everyone else and their items. I kind of wish I'd brought something from home but I just didn't have much of anything that was truly mine. Everything went to my brother and I don't really intend on coming back either. It's time for me to strike out on my own instead of just being in his shadow." "I don't know. I'm surrounded by good people... kind of? And I want to do right by them. I didn't think much of Eorzea when I first arrived here by boat but the longer I've been here I found I really like the place even with its ups and major downs. Including that girl that said I looked too girly for her when... well, I wasn't really interested in the first place."
  10. rjszoyDRrt8 gotta grind for the ranbat while maintenance is going on (and since I'm not actually looking for interactable setups why not pick the only stage that has music I enjoy).
  11. finally we can all pray to RNG-sus for success in RP fights.
  12. Yeah those are just like, the very obvious inconsistencies that I found just playing the game.
  13. 10 minutes was the cutoff point where I decided a shower and getting underwear and socks before the stores closed was more important than levelling. I'll probably have to party finder it. I didn't actually do them nor do I plan on doing them more than once unless necessary. Hell, I don't even mind pushing through them then recap the whole shebang at the inn (probably the only MMO I'll ever say this about but what can I say I cannot get enough of watching my dude). Maybe I'll do one later tonight if I can get a group going (probably won't be home until 11 I think). At least the trial.
  14. I. Basic Info Characters: Kellach Woods Linkshells: XI:7 Primary RP linkshell: XI:7 II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I'll say medium but I can be heavy. I just haven't had much opportunities to do so. Views on RP combat and injuries: If you can't sell don't enter RP combat. If you can't handle injury properly don't sustain major injuries. You are the sole person to determine what your character can and cannot do and if you feel uncomfortable please speak up! I am bad at reading people. Views on IC romance: If it happens it happens but I won't be looking out for it. As to naughty things, partner preference. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): It's cool but most of my characters have specific filial ties that make it difficult to tie myself to anyone IC. Views on lore: Respect it. You can play with it, you can subvert it, you can even go against it if you don't like it but respect it. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): If it happens within the lore of the game then it's fair game. Linkpearls are actually part of the game so /linkshell would function kind of like those. III. 15. Whoop. Kellach will have made 50 WAR in about a month and a half provided I don't half-ass it. However, something I've noted earlier today is that barely anyone plays the end-main scenario dungeons/trial anymore (I know why - no real reward to doing so and if it wasn't that it was in my quest log and may as well do them at this point just to knock them out of my log) which kind of prevents me from closing out that part of my experience. Usually, I'd get a dungeon pop in barely 3 seconds, whereas for Cape Westwind (trial) I got nothing for a good 10 minutes. Maybe it was just bad timing, but still. If anyone wants to offer to help me with these that'd be fine too. I just want to do them once and then join the ranks of those who never have to think about these again.
  16. It's kind of weird how the game handles it. On one side, we have two out of the three military leaders of Eorzea being women, with the one who isn't having to answer to one hierarchically. All are shown to be competent at their jobs and doing the best they can with a bad situation. We also have several women portrayed in what would be, in our society, typically "male" jobs and SOMEWHAT vice-versa (Jandelaine, although stylists being male and effeminate is definitely not a subversion by any means, same with the dance instructor). On the other side, there's the unmentionable implications that seem to only occur to women across the main scenario as though it could never happen to men, or if it happened to men the rating would go up so it cannot happen to them for out of story considerations. And the fact that all dancers in Ul'dah/Costa del Sol are women. I guess we can extrapolate that bad stuff still happens to women exclusively but people make less of a fuss about women in various roles.
  17. The drink slid alongside the bar, and he carefully brought it to his mouth. "Whether it's a smoother skin powder for my tone or a clearer lip color, I just have to try it, but usually it doesn't get past the rigors of battle. I didn't really think much of such things on the farm, but in Eorzea I was free to explore, and well, I quite like the enhancing features of these cosmetics and especially the bright pink colors I can lace my hair and bring to my lips." Putting the mug down, no trace of the pink lipstick could be found on the mug.
  18. And I wanted Mimic but that one's easy to RP. Put on a mask, get everything to 50, make a completely nuts build, here you go!
  19. Kellach stepped inside the Quicksand after what seemed like an eternity and the aroma of absolute truth soon penetrated his nostrils, altering his own thought processes and becoming far more receptive to invasive inquiries. He'd not heard the latest question, but a whisper from nowhere would incessantly repeat it, reverberating in his brain, and amplifying until it became unbearable. (Enough nitty and gritty! What are the simple pleasures in life? Hobbies? Foods? Drinks? Surely not everyone's lives are filled with the grim.) Kellach scratched the back of his fluffy long hair and started speaking to no one in particular. "Before I'd have just said working on the farm was fun but these days it's all about several mugs of ale and discovering new cosmetics as I travel Eorzea!"
  20. All game writing is essentially C-list writing with very few exceptions though.
  21. Kellach's the only one I've done dungeons on, and he's WAR all the way at the moment. So I often end up with 1-2 commendations per run by virtue of me tanking. <.< Rude people I don't give it to. It really is context dependent but I try not to let role influence my decision. Usually if I'm not the newb in the dungeon I'll give it to the new person as an incentive to keep at it, especially if they tried their best. If all of them have done it before, I'll look for standout play (example, not letting me go down a certain threshold for healing, actually taking care of adds, making my life simpler as a tank when dealing with trash mobs) and then if nobody really stands out, whoever's still around at the end.
  22. I can't speak for this community but I can speak for my experience in other games. Generally, if you succeed in attracting a sizable amount of people (because there's a chance that they won't show up because it involves not being at the Hot Spot), you need to be extremely consistent and do events often enough that they do not want to leave the area you're trying to set up as a RP hotspot. If you aren't, they'll just return from whence they came and the effort will be a bust and will only come out of there for events. Besides, there are events in Limsa. In fact Limsa's a hotbed for them from what I see on the forums.
  23. I've yet to see any sort of RP in Limsa and I've had to chill there for longer than anywhere else with two exceptions which were events (one I couldn't participate because it was over when I logged on). Gridania is devoid of RP when I'm on. So it's Ul'dah or bust because between standing in the Quicksand and at least watching RP happen and standing in the Wench with barely anything happening, the former is more entertaining even if I end up having zero RP that night.
  24. I am SUPER LURKY as the few who might have seen me around the Quicksand can attest. I have trouble approaching people because most times I'm just like "welp these people all have their own thing going on no need for me to interfere nope let's just emote drinking ale while researching OSes for T.Hawk". Which isn't super conductive to actually RPing, I know, but they're my neuroses and I gotta live with them.
  25. Yeah I used my free one to change some features that couldn't be changed, but seeing as I tend to thoroughly research character/race before making them I really would just have a Fantasia that served no purpose otherwise.
