  1. A very big welcome to you!
  2. Most people don't look at clothes too much - I know some people who have leveled Bard because they have a lot of nice outfits, but their character isn't anything Bard related. So I wouldn't worry heavily about that kind of thing! One way around lore-outfit-issues if it does come up in conversation is to say it's a replica. For example, the White Mage AF attire is meant to be one of a kind more of less, but you could say that 'the Weaver's Guild have taken inspiration from the old designs' or something and there we go no issues there. As far as progression goes - to me, being a White Mage isn't really the next 'rank' or ultimate aim for a Conjurer anyhow (if that's what you mean). It would take a very long time to gain the knowledge and skills to become an expert Conjurer, so the progression is still there for your lovely little character to grow. Also, I'm very sorry to add but in this thread they've been discussing Fantasia being confirmed as lore-breaking. It won't stop anyone roleplaying it, though.
  3. Hello! The questions you've asked regarding White Mages and Fantasia usage are some of the most argued and subjective among RP'ers. Ultimately there's no right or wrong answer, and in the end it's down to what you want to roleplay, and enjoying yourself. The arts of White Magic are kept secret by the Padjal, and in lore only them and the Warrior of Light currently have access to it, which is why many players don't see it fit to roleplay them. As said, there are other ways of getting the secrets, which the lore team have clarified possible. Lots of players are lore-strict and might chose not to roleplay with someone who's a White Mage, or ICly not believe your character if they met them. Others are a bit more accepting. It seems like a 50/50 split? Personally I've seen more arguments against being one than I have for. I believe they also said they might make it more accessible in the future, so it'll be interesting to see where the White Mage quests go come Heavensward and if any changes are made. As far as Fantasias go, again it's a very subjective matter! The thing about Fantasia is that it offers an awful lot of freedom. For example, someone could take it and go a kill a bunch of people and get away with it. Boom. Done and done. I have a friend who took one ICly and is now an Elezen, and another friend who strictly disagrees with they exist in lore. And I'm sure I read somewhere at the fanfest the lore team said that the fantasia potion allows the person to become their true self? I think the bigger issue is how often they're used. If someone was abusing it, it would be quite off-putting for many. As you can see, there's lots of different views on it and very little lore on it! So using it as a way of glamour certainly sounds plausible. I'd also like to add that we're a tiny majority of Balmung's roleplayers here and there are many with a more relaxed approach than what you may read on this site.
  4. Hello, welcome to HRC!

    Hello Hello!

Glad you're both enjoying it! Look forward to seeing you around!
  6. Hello & welcome! The website mentioned by Riordyn is gilgamesh-rp.com, and in addition to the Linkshell hall it might be worth checking the Gilgamesh Directory to see if there's anything there that interests you. Bozmuzogto sounds like such a sweetie. Look forward to hearing of his adventures!
  7. Welcome! Look forward to seeing you around
  8. Pleeeeeeease can we have a guest book?! I'd love to leave people messages.
  9. Hi! A very big welcome to you. Ul'dah is the main hub for open world RP, especially around the Adventurer's Guild. Lately it's been spreading to the other Adventurer's Guilds in other cities as well, so don't worry you will come across something soon! The Main Scenario quests are neccessary in order to progress through the game, although a little tedious sometimes, and aside from any dungeon/trial they are solo. The first 15 levels of the game are very tutorial-y, but when you hit level 15 you'll enter your first dungeon and unlock easy access to Gridania and Ul'Dah, so hopefully that will help it feel a little less quiet. I highly recommend joining a Linkshell or Free Company to help socialize more! If you click the Linkshell tab under the header there are many FC/LS members here have made. Some are specific roleplay groups with a plot, others are more general chat. Do you have any idea of what you'd like your character to be like, roleplay wise? That might help finding a group that suits you. Or in Ul'Dah there is a lot of walk-up RP, so that might help for some casual roleplay. Feel free to post any enquires you might have! We're very friendly there, and we can go into more detail if there's anything in particular you're interested in. Look forward to seeing you around!
  10. Give me a billowing hooded cloak any day. Why can't they be in fashion? Cake or cookies?
  11. The right one is at a funny angle but it looks more like a staff than a gun. They're really interesting designs! I love the look of the first two, and the ninja in the 5th one down. Might have to level NIN now. Did they say whether they're crafted or dungeon drops? I know the dancer ones will be crafted, or maybe GS.
  12. Wonderful art, Bryn! Hope you do get back into it, would love to see more.
  13. Hello, welcome to HRC! FCs are never usually a boundry in finding roleplay (unless perhaps it's part of someone's story that they've had a falling out with the FC or something!) so there's nothing to worry about there Look forward to seeing you around!

  15. To me it seems (realistically) that it would take a lot of training and require safety gear and little bits and pieces like that to be able to use one? I'm interested to see how people will go about it if they do have their OC flying around. As flying in pre-existing areas isn't allowed at the moment, it might be that the chocobo in those areas aren't trained, or it is only allowed around Ishgard because of necessity to get to surrounding areas? Can't wait to see the lore presented in-game. I certainly accept some flying mounts (sorry fat chocobo), but personally my characters won't be using them any time soon - plus Nara is an engineer, so she's an airship lass through and through.

Welcome to HRC! Cemi sounds like a very interesting character! Look forward to seeing you around
  17. My friend recently sold his small house for 20mil, and got an offer of 22mil. I don't know the usual prices, but there's a recent sale any way. Good luck.
  18. (Maybe poor wording?) I changed it a bit, I hope you don't mind! It isn't entirely accurate, for example my character Aris has a name that doesn't fit lalafell law, and I know many people who have a name like 'Albus Carbuncle' but got into roleplaying later or go by a different IC alias. Also, my char is a crafter, so if someone was crafting something I'd take it with a grain of salt personally. * In regards to end game gear, (for example full sets like High Allagan or Scylla) they're sometimes avoided because 'lore wise' most characters wouldn't have them. However a way to get around that is that the person might have a replica or inspired design, so again it isn't completely accurate. However, these are some good points in general by Nebbs if you're trying to figure out who is in character and who isn't. The best way I've found to recognise roleplayers is if they're walking around, as you've seen already. If people are standing in popular RP areas that's usually a sign they're waiting to be approached as well. Lots of people LOVE walk ups, but if you're uncertain sending a /tell to ask if someone is available and whatever else you want to ask is just as good (and sometimes helpful to make sure you're not interrupting them). There are lots of lovely people on here as well, sending a message to them and prearranging roleplay is just as welcome. Hope this has helped. Oops, it seems I'm a rambler too!

    Hello!

Hello & welcome! We're all pretty friendly here, so don't hesitate to ask any questions! Look forward to seeing you around.
  20. I'm sorry I'm slow to reply, or sometimes don't at all. Please know it's nothing personal or something you've done. Talking to people, in person and online, is very challenging for me. I avoid it because of the anxiety and panic I know I will experience. Sometimes I can overcome it and go for it, but then later the anxiety wins again and I retreat. Which then isn't fair on someone who has spoke to me. This is no excuse, but I hope it shows that it isn't your fault. I'm going to try harder from now on to make sure I reply, if someone does get in contact. It's really kind of you to do so and always makes me feel warm and fuzzy, and you deserve the same respect in return.
  21. Hello! As Apl mentioned, Ul'Dah is the main public RP spot. The two Adventurer's Guilds in the other main cities are starting to get some roleplay as well lately, which is nice. Housing wards at FCs you'll likely find RP too, and weekly events such as the Grindstone, the Mystic Runestone and the Sunny Seaside Bar to name a few. Events are mostly GMT evenings onwards, so I guess that's EST 5pm-ish? onwards throughout the night. However, there's RP 24/7 in Ul'dah, and you'll probably find come across it randomly in your travels as well. Most people are open to walk-up RP and have it noted in their search info, so you could always find some. It might also be worth having a look at the Linkshell Hall or finding a FC/LS that pipes your interest. There are lots of FCs around that do more private roleplay so it mightn't be as obvious. Welcome back! :chocobo:
  22. How far along are you with your relic?
