  1. http://imgur.com/a/5daS1 So, Alothia has been through a lot. As a young girl, she was raised by her parents near a hyuran settlement outside of Hyrstmill. While her parents worked hard to support her and her sister, she felt neglected and jaded. She left home at the age of 15 and ran away to Ul'dah, where she got involved in petty crimes. After a few years, she managed to work her way into a position of power in a small syndicate. Unfortunately, she saw first hand one day what her life of crime had done to people close to her, and she wandered the streets, disillusioned. Eventually, she made an attempt at revamping her life, and she settled down with a small company. Up until the Calamity, Alothia's life consisted of working for her company, making it successful, and doing all she could to help those around her. While she always had the best interests of others in mind, she also fell into some relationships that definitely weren't healthy for her own person. At the battle of Cartinau, she was transported off. When she returned, she found herself to be in a place that didn't remember her. The people she had once loved had either disappeared as well, or had moved on. Over the subsequent time, she found love and lost it, reunited with friends, made plenty of new ones, and has established herself a place in another company built from the foundation of her first. I like her. She's my first character ever, and she's not elaborate or fancy, but she's mine. <3
  2. Well, serious or silly, we run the gamut here in game. There are plenty of groups who do different things. I'd give a look at the Linkshell hall. There, is a listing of many of the RP groups in game, and that can tell you what sorts of things they like to do. As far as the type of RP that happens in game, it all depends. It's best to start small. Work on small interactions, talking with other players. A lot of in game RP isn't nearly as flowery as forum RP can be, because you don't need to describe everything, as the game provides most of that visually. If you have any questions about in game stuff, ask away!
  3. If we're going to keep it open, we should get back on track. But if everyone has said their peace, then let it die. ^^
  4. So, take this with a grain of salt, and forgive me if I come off as sounding snide. It's not my intention at all. I don't think you're going to get very far on these forums with not playing the game and not playing a race that a player can be. Right now, we can play as Humans, Roegadyn, Miqo'te, Elezen, and Lalafell, with Au Ra coming soon. In the lore of the game, the only people that can hear the Moogles are those people who possess the Echo, if memory serves me. It's something special, and there are going to be plenty of players who choose to have their characters not be able to understand/talk to the moogles. That's going to be a big road block to your RP here. Another thing is that without playing the game or doing EXTENSIVE research into the lore, you're also going to have a difficult time. Many of the RPers you find here are sticklers for being lore friendly, and having a Moogle that goes around theiving and whatnot doesn't seem to fit in line with the game. Finally, we're not really a forum RP website. We have a small section for forum RPs, but most of those are extensions of RP that happen in game. The RPC's purpose is for players to get together to make connections in game, to fuel that RP. That being said, if you're really interested in RPing within the world of FFXIV, I highly suggest picking up a copy and trying it. There are plenty of people here and in game that would be more than happy to help you learn about the world, clear content, and build a character that is not only lore friendly, but fun to play with. I wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors!
  5. I apologize if it comes off as if I meant there's a Tumblr hive mind. I just meant that in general, we, as people, tend to have a hive mind sometimes. It doesn't matter where it is. We follow where we see there are people, we agree with people because other people agree with them. It happens anywhere. It's just an aspect of human behavior. Sure, there are those people who don't go along, but I think there's an overwhelming majority that will follow the leader, no matter what the venue is. That's all I was trying to say.
  6. Melodia, whether she realizes it or not, does a good job trying to get other people talking and involved. And I appreciate that a lot!
  7. True. The likes though, and the reblogs that get agreed to...they keep going around. And the person who made the OP has that validation for whatever rant they went on. It really is kind of a broken system.
  8. That's a pretty large difference, though. If someone here is a dick and they get shiny green numbers for it, they can still be smacked down in public by an authority figure for being a dick. That doesn't happen in this hypothetical on Tumblr, it's just an echo chamber. I'd argue that the circlejerking there is far worse than anything similar here, if only because there's no giant list of Warren liked this Warren reblogged this Alothia liked this Alothia reblogged this on and on and on. It just perpetuates, with no louder voice to go NO SERIOUSLY, SIT DOWN AND THINK ABOUT WHAT A HORRIBLE PERSON YOU ARE. There's plenty of fine people and cool dino porn on tumblr, but there's also a colossal amount of unwarranted self-importance who feel the need to help police the community. I'm quoting myself because I think my post got lost on the last page. It's a cycle on tumblr. There's no dislike. No way to really say that you don't agree with something, because you'll get lost in the void or shot down because of that same sort of hive mentality. I think we just need to self-police more...which is a lot to ask, but it's what we need as people.
  9. Again, just as I've said here before, if you feel like you're getting emotional over something, it's probably best to step away from forums and social networking. Perhaps people don't intend for it to become bullying when they first post. Sure, they're just venting about stuff. But people have a hive mentality sometimes. And when someone responds to that and adds on, then yeah, it's justified. I should keep doing this. And so they do. It's a vicious cycle. One thing I love about Tumblr is the draft system. I can write something, save it as a draft, and then go back and read it later, decide if it's really what I wanted to say. Most of the time, I realize it was something I wrote in the heat of the moment, and it gets deleted. I don't know that people go there inherently to start drama. I like to think that people don't. Sure, it happens. Sure, there are those people that will. But I think most people don't go to social networking with the intention of starting something. They just want to vent, want their voice to be heard, and move on. And that's great, as long as it doesn't make someone else feel like poop. Are there times where I'd like to hold people accountable for their actions on other sites here on the RPC? Sure. But we don't moderate the rest of the internet. We can't. If people hold to the rules here, I can't hold them accountable for what they do elsewhere. I'd just like to ask, again, that people really think about what they're posting and not post in the heat of the moment: here or anywhere else. It's hurtful to other people sometimes. It can be hurtful to yourself. You never know who sees what you're posting. There's really no way of knowing. And if you wouldn't say those things to the person's face, you shouldn't say them anywhere else. That's my 2 gil on the matter. Take it or leave it.
  10. I think that the reason it has become a thing is because recently, there has been an overabundance of negativity in the FFXIV tumblr community. I have my tumblr. I see the negativity. It's there. I don't talk about it with anyone outside of my FC, because I don't feel it's my place. But I certainly take note of it. And I think it's a shame.
  11. Can I call you baby? I'm nobody's baby! Nobody puts me in the corner! Rawr. You all know what I mean. ^^ Carry on and be good to each other.
  12. Just a note that we're watching this thread closely. I don't see anything wrong if the discussion continues in a peaceful manner. Just note that if your emotions are getting the better of you as you read this thread, it's probably not a good idea to post. Keep it civil, let's not resort to name calling, and we should be fine.
  13. It's like going to an amusement park or a water park and still feeling the rides when you lie down to go to bed. Friggin' weirdest feeling EVER. And yeah...I know once I start trying to exercise with this apricot growing in me...that's gonna be so hard...
  14. Melodia is super nice, and I'm so glad that we got to RP together. I can't wait to have our guild work with you to set up the open house night!!
  15. Mod Note: So, I'd just like to say that the moderator team took a minute to look over the last few posts in this thread. We have removed the last string of posts because, whether intentional or not, it bears a resemblance to an incident that we were informed of yesterday. In order to maintain a level of neutrality on the whole situation, we are simply moving those posts from this thread. No one is being warned or reprimanded for them. This is simply a move to make sure that the posts aren't taken in such a way that could stir up misunderstandings. Thanks guys. Keep on keepin' on.

We'd like to welcome some of our newest members, Nebbs, Cass, Endri, Marah, Ku, and U'zhan. It'd had been a while since I updated and welcomed the new people, so there we have it. Remember, we're still accepting new members! We're about 20 members strong!
  20. Welcome welcome!~ *steals for her FC*
  21. I'd love to be a part of this if you're not overloaded already. Here's my reference folder: http://imgur.com/a/5daS1
  22. Preparations for the wedding ceremony itself are almost complete. Khale and I spent the past week or so traveling around Eorzea on a pilgrimage. We traveled to each of the shrines of the Twelve an gave our thanks to each of them. I suppose it was more for me than for Khale…he’s not much of a practitioner. Although he did take the time to give thanks to Menphina and Nophica. It warmed my heart. We’ve spent some time at the chapel itself with the wedding planner, picking out music and the type of ceremony and whatnot. I’d like to honor the Twelve in the ceremony in some way. I think it would be nice. In other news, I helped Khale attend to M’hatya’s surgery. I learned how to learn the signs of infection, and was able to watch him work. It was an interesting learning experience. I hope that M’hatya heals soon. Khale suggested that I get her to help with paperwork and planning the wedding. I think that it would be a good idea. I’d like to get to know her more anyway. As far as food for the reception is concerned, U’zhan offered to help make some traditional Sagoli dishes. I need to see if I can get into contact with K’ajia and get a hold of the spices he’ll need. She hasn’t been around anytime soon. We’ve got a lot more jobs to work on. Marah is watching the Shroud for some activity…although I’m not really sure why. And then Lyse is working on something else. I really need to get people to start filling out the new paperwork so I know what the hell is going on. There is a breakdown of communication, and because of that I’m lost. At least if I can have reports filled out, I can keep track of some of what we’re doing. We had a couple of new employees join up as well. Loxlen seems to be a lovely young man. I hope that we get to talk more in the coming days. I do need to get him to fill out his preliminary paperwork. We also had a lalafell come in as well. Rurubrom Totobrom is his name…but he wants to be called Brom. It’s strange. Who would have thought that we’d have someone else in the company named Brom. Although their personalities are as different as night and day. He does seem to enjoy whiskey though…but that’s not all that uncommon. I did get a letter from Brom as well. He said that he thought he saw Adriel and then myself…and went after us. I’m not really sure where he is…I suppose I can try writing him back. The Moogles always seem to know where to find people. I hope that he is well and hasn’t run away again. Twelve, I certainly wrote a lot this sun. I’m sure I’ve left something out. Always do. Anyroad, it is time for me to get back to filing.

Just an update: We've got a few jobs to work on, and are always looking for more. We're also still looking for new members who may play at earlier times. Right now we've got a good contingent of late night EST people, but I know that we'd like to have some more players who play at earlier times. If you're interested in learning more about us, or have any questions, you can shoot me a PM here or poke me in game! Also, be sure to check out our enjin page at http://jutatde.enjin.com
  24. Welcome welcome! If you have any questions, fears, whatever, don't hesitate to talk to us! We're a pretty welcoming bunch, for the most part. And if you ever need anything, feel free to poke me in game or in a PM here! Looking forward to meeting you and hopefully having some RP!
  25. I did make a thread in the Making Connections forum, it is stickied, and it's a listing of FCs that are looking to be hired, along with what they do. It's the closest thing we have. ^^
