  1. Dear new healer in SV: Cure II and a regen is not the answer to everything. This tank is brand-spanking new, in welfare gear, and halfway derp geared. And likes to run off on her own. But I still like her more than you, and you being a football has nothing to do with it. I don't have to keep ballad up 24/7 because she keeps OoM'ing herself. And way to put a tornado on every single cannon in boss 2.
  2. While I prefer Samurai Warriors myself, that's still good shit man.
  3. Pfft, I'm not even getting into OOC stuff. That's too big a can of worms. For Chao: "Do you charge by the hour or is there a nightly rate?" /cuepunchtodick
  4. For Tahz: "Did you really lose that many fights? Are you sure you're not gay?" I'll post more as I think of them.
  5. Boiled peanuts. Alternatively, miniature hot dogs smothered in BBQ sauce and left in a slow-cooker for approximately 3 hours.
  6. I kind of already expect to take a 2000lb lore bomb to the face over Seno should more of Doma ever be brought forward. His and his wife's swordsmanship school can already be defended from utter destruction via lore by emphasising that the Shinmei-ryū are reclusive. What I fully expect to have destroyed is the semi-extensive timeline we came up with for Doma's revolution. That said, I'm as likely to Adam Savage anything that comes along to demolish the work I've put into my characters.
  7. Aside from the fluke BRD, I only leveled Chao's IC jobs to subvert that exact problem, heh.
  8. I don't see a problem with having a lalafell. Hell, the last written attack on Chao by Garlean agents was started by a lalafell.
  9. Hah, Chao's visors are also VISR with the serial numbers filed off.
  10. Short reminder that I still need one more interested individual to play the role of a Garlean NPC. I know I want to have a magitek reaper involved, but I've yet to decide if I want three dismounts + the reaper or to put the third Garlean on the reaper. The only reason I'm setting such a low engagement force when we've seen Garlemald in duties throw upwards of 15-20 troops + reapers and vanguards at someone they want dead is to streamline the RP and make it fast and enjoyable for all.
  11. It's 20%. Even then, between that and hilariously-overgeared healers, the first four turns are easy.
  12. t5 scary. I wouldn't do it on Chao if we were doing t5. I'd sub in a pinch hitter.
  13. Chao is signed up. Definitely within the time that I can run it. =D
  14. Last time I tried to work for the military, Zero Division rejected me. >.> That aside, I gripe but Chao's battlesuit visor has practically-identical functions to your eye. Maybe they can compare notes and she can pilfer the workings of the rest of your goodies just by looking at it when she comes looking for information about Amalj'aa summonings.
  15. Having only ever been in fights (even though one was written instead of RP'd) on Ganale and Chao, they're the only ones I can speak to. For Ganale, I reference the various WAR moves by having him perform an action that visibly resembles what the in-game animation looks like, but I rarely, if ever, refer to them as their actual names. I am also prone to using a phrase that sounds similar to the skill name in the action's description: tempestuous circle for steel cyclone, et al. Chao pitches all the MNK and BLM moves out the window. She has a Shoulder Tackle-esque move that's called shundo, which I actually imported from her original source material. Shundo as came from the source is literally instant movement (it's in the name) and has a more variable range than 10-20y. She in fact used it on someone at point-blank range to break through a manawall. There's an 'upgraded' shundo called "void instant movement" that lets someone change direction in mid-move and can even move in midair. (Funny side note, the NIN movement skill actually exists under the same name in Chao's source material, used by a ninja even, but absurdly more powerful) For actual hand-to-hand combat, Chao is also different from MNK/PGL in that her fighting style is more based on kicks than strikes. Her magic combat also completely doesn't use the astral/umbral dichotomy. She's specialized in fire magic so she gets a flat boost to her fire spells, but she doesn't have others. Sure she can do a plinky little ice or lightning spell, but they're not going to be of any real use. She uses a much wider variety of fire-based spells as well, all of them incantation spells spoken in Garlean (Latin). She hasn't yet learned her Flare-equivalent spell, but that day is on the horizon.
  16. I fucking love Steps......when I run it with my crew. We have a strategy that's worked for us and everyone has their assigned job and it plays out like the epic battle that it's meant to feel like. Our plan works so well for us that I, an i130 DRG with the highest total dps in the group (since my BLM girlfriend, who hilariously out-damages me even with twice her gear level, usually goes as healer) actually man a cannon, because I enjoy playing with artillery. And even with that huge dump in dps, because another of our well-geared DRGs also does cannons with me, we still curbstomp Vishap. It's closer because the dps isn't pushed as hard as it possibly can be, but that's what's fun about it. ...I....actually don't have a bitch story this time.
  17. Erik, you have better tech than Chao does. That aside, on the earlier topic about the power of friendship, I draw up short of necessarily claiming that as part of the powerset behind R'tahz, but he did learn new skills from Curious Gorge and a retired capital-D Dragoon because of his desire to protect J'karu.
  18. Or, you know, because maybe ppl don't like carrying someone who doesn't know even the most basic shit about the job he's playing. No, it's definitely what Kellach says, because as has been pointed out more than once, you don't need a parser to spot an idiot.
  19. Chao's basic magic ability she was born with, her current power level she trained hard for, and her Magia Erebia she invented herself. Her magitek skill she gained from playing with the stuff since she was a child. The rest of my characters are all just martially-talented by way of various over-the-years training.
  20. I'm reasonably certain that three-quarters or better of players will peace off at that point and refuse to respond to it as valid accreditation of the other player's claim. Instead it'll get dismissed as someone petulantly trying to have their cake and eat it too. See? v
  21. Bring it in, come get a half-ton hug of starship-grade armor. That's exactly the way I'm feeling across basically all my characters.
  22. Valid to me. I'll see maybe about doing some more work to somebody tonight. That screenshot I put on Chao's page last night doesn't count.
  23. I can't actually speak for IC degrading of my characters based on how lore-compliant they are/not, but I can say that I've been accosted several times (once three times in the space of thirty minutes by three different people) OOC about it. Hell, I'm incredibly leery about saying anything about what Chao, Garon, or Ghost do and/or work on in their own time to anybody because I expect to be immediately dropped like a cooked grenade. To my pleasant surprise, however, the one person so far I've let slip about her not-precisely-lore-compliant fighting style was intrigued and said "let's go fight, I want to see it".
