Sounds good to me, as long as the competition is both doable and fair.

Either some sort of security agent or an inventor.

Your character is now in a rap battle.
Dante Abigor replied to ChewableMorphine's topic in Fun Prompts
EDIT: I win now lol -
Currently still his trusty gauntlets, his two rings(One with a jewel he uses to store his Mobile Mammet storage, go figure....and the other to carry his linkpearl synthesizer), a couple of wires he keeps wrapped around his torso and arms underneath his clothing, a few pouches with gil....and maybe a throwing knife or two. He also carries around spare masks and goggles in case the ones he wears get damaged or removed somehow.

Force them all to learn basic self defense and bargaining techniques until their little hearts couldn't take it anymore, then feed them meat and veggies until they fall asleep. If that doesn't work then light something on fire and crush something hard to get them to shut up, then take a nap.

Interaction of Multiple Free Companies
Dante Abigor replied to Warren Castille's topic in RP Discussion
Wow....smells like salt and sulfur in this thread. That said though, I hope to attend if possible, I just do not know who may be coming with me, if any at all. -
If any are interested or need more info either post here or pm me. Same for any other FCs looking to do something cooperatively.

This reminds me of a simpler time, when THMs were using spells like scourge and DoTs as opposed to three spells....ah the glory days... Being serious though Id say that its just an extension of magic in general. Sticking a term to it only makes it more complicated than it needs to be. As an example of what I mean, white and black magic are said more than once to have the same roots and the like. Im assuming this is one of those "other branches" of magic that either aren't officially named or is just really powerful versions of already existing spells. I mean, so far if we are looking at magic feats, we know that we can summon primals with more than just crystals, we can summon our OWN personal primals for around 200 crystals or so(bite me it happened its canon. COME AT ME BROS), and we can sort of turn people that are still leaving into voidsent. There are a number of other odd examples but this is just to help my point. As far as the demon wall tidbit...I thought they were just giving a callback to FFXII or some such. If I had to guess just WHAT it was Id say a demon either put under contract or enthralled once half summoned into a wall to be a guardian. Im starting to go off on a rant here so I'll just end my stuff here. TL;DR: Its probably regular magic with extra stuff we don't know about yet. Conditions and standards type of thing.

Will two hands replace one hand, and dark knights replace paladins?
Dante Abigor replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
Cloud Strife butcher knife life is superior easier to be a badass with compared to LITTLE GIRLY SHIELD MEN, so I expect that...there wont really be a change. Most people that Rp with a shield I find often have a reason for their character using a shield at all. Id be more concerned about the Warrior Rp base really, seeing as Greatswords are generally more popular than a massive axe. -
Heavensward Jobs, and Au Ra Lore now available
Dante Abigor replied to Avalt Laguz's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I personally didn't like any of the job lore aside from Astrologian. Dark Knight in particular bothered me simply because it seems /too/ anti-hero-ish in its lack of anything distasteful in their lore. Who leads them? Why is a greatsword their calling card? Why are poor people even being picked on in the first place when there are DRAGONS outside of the walls trying to kill everyone? Then again this is initial lore so I guess my rage is unfounded. I just hate it when lore gives me more questions without answers than useful information. Similarly, Machinist made me angry simply because WHEN THE FUCK did they have a chance to Cid's works? Before 1.5? Also similar to another thread questioning how they fed themselves, how are they getting the magitek necessary for XYZ to happen? It just bothers me. I really liked the Au Ra lore however. Nothing much to say there, except everyone prepare your anus for Au Ra characters to have the ability to hear your sword shift slightly in its sheathe or something/watch you pee from malms away. -
I think its less that people think this subject is abhorrent as much as people feel socially obligated(on the internet lol) to go "Eeeeew, somewhat explicit things that doesn't involve virtual murder! Must point at it and scream wiiiiiitch!" then run away while saying to their friends how much they hate something they likely haven't even tried, etc. Then later on in hush hush they probably fantasize about doing it like fanfic writers of XYZ. Personally I have nothing against it as long as it isn't shoved down my throat, and like the OP pointed out, there are OPTIONS to go about it. Few things can get as touchy in RPs faster than something intimate, and even fewer things are considered more intimate than the subject of sex. Not even sure where Im going with this anymore without it turning into a mini rant. Good post OP.

Eligor:Bounces somewhere between the lower 3's and upper 4's, but can rarely pop up to 2 tier if possession occurs, at a cost. Pheria: Somewhere in the mid 4 level, but typically wont get her hands dirty anyway.

Hopefully never. To me from the beginning in 1.0 the empire was never outright EVIL, they just have forceful means and pretty hypocritical beliefs. As an example, in 1.0 Gaius ends up being a tsundere ally to you taking down the White Raven, only to turn around and become the villain in 2.0 and realize hes been manipulated. There's even evidence suggesting that Garlemald does indeed help the civilizations it conquers, such as the Roe knight being so adamant about protecting it(Until you brutally murder him, you monster), as well as Gaius repeatedly saying that they aim to conquer Eorzea to remove the Primal threat/abomination. If the Binding Coil is any foreshadowing anyway, we will see someone related to the White Raven before we even see another lock of the new emperors hair, so Id say that if they DO end up destroying the empire, it would be in one of the way later expansions(like double digits.) The Garlean Empire is like that looming threat that is uniting everyone. Without them on the horizon making everyone bite their nails in terror, everyone would return to being separated dickheads and the story IMO would more or less crumble into obscurity. What happens to a hero when the hero is no longer needed?

[SPOILERS not hidden in SPOILERS] 2.55 Before the Fall Part 2
Dante Abigor replied to Kage's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Am I the only one who is hoping that Gaius somehow survived now that he randomly showed up in the credits artwork? Cause he was my favorite character, and the original O.G. -
More poses for when your weapon is drawn. Different styles to choose for when you are actually fighting(Changeable battle animations will probably never happen ever.) A flying ADS mount. The ability to actually brand gear you craft with a REAL signature like we were lead to believe before 2.0 came out, not that BS where your name just shows up in the bottom corner of le flavorless text. More weapon variations for every class(Actual wands for mages Harry Potter style, katars or BARE KNUCKLES for monks, polearms for dragoons, hatchets or fucking dual wielding swords for paladin, Hammers for Warrior, Uh...throwing knives for bards alla thancred, maybe....audio books for arcanists? IDK) Toggle-able hairstyle lengths. I like more hairstyles as much as everyone else, but for a lot of people current hairstyles are pretty perfect....or they would be if we could just make them a little longer or shorter here and there. On that note add more than one layer option for hairstyles. Give me the option to interchange my bangs, sideburns, and scalp please. Add a tactics minigame to the Gold Saucer similar to the actual Final Fantasy Tactics games of old. DO NOT stop me from flying to areas with a stupid reason. Id actually prefer invisible walls to THIS ZONE IS OFF LIMITS CAUSE FUCK YOU. More tattoo options, including Tattoo options for the body. More villages to explore and just be around in. After 2.0, it feels like all of Eorzea was obliterated and all the remaining occupants moved into designated city states and villages with aetherites. Make it bigger so it feels more alive. Better que times. THE OPTION TO SHEATHE OUR WEAPONS IN MORE THAN ONE WAY. I cannot stress this one enough. I want more options for sheathing my weapon. I honestly think people hiding their weapons most of the time is because of this as well, not just they want to appear normal during conversations and the like. For example, Im going to play Dark Knight. I want to be able to sheathe the weapon on my hip rather than my upper back. I know this will not be an option, BUT IT COULD BE. Give Black mages the ability to actually use the black mage veil for their faces, complete with the glowy eyes. Make hoods and masks and goggles visorable. I could go on forever probably so I will just stop here. >.>

When inquired as to his job, he usually blows off the question with a response along the lines of being the cutest. When asked about his skills in battle, Eligor will typically say he is good at running away, even going so far as to actually do it when combat presents itself to help keep up the illusion.

Considering revenants toll originally was like literally a campfire next to an aetherite, I'd say it's possible that it might become a fortress, if not a city state of its own. But also considering its close proximity to surrounding danger from all sides it would beg the question of how exactly they would go about making it more friendly to actual occupation. I for one am pretty certain there wouldn't be a residential district there any time soon, for example. It does seem to be a quickly escalating superpower though so fortress might be accurate, especially if the Garlean deeps are going to be removed some day(also unlikely, but this is kind of speculation heaven).

New to Balmung- don't know where to start RPing!
Dante Abigor replied to nekoneku's topic in RP Discussion
Without outright repeating what others have said, it's also pretty easy to find rp encounters in any of the starter cities, although I still find Ul'dah to be the most active of the three. If you are still getting a feel for just what direction you want to take your character some random encounters first night help to focus you a bit. As for the FCs from my perspective, I can think of too many that I personally enjoy, and I would suggest looking into them after you know how you intend for your character to be. It may sound unhelpful but knowing your character fits before entering a FC is pretty awesome, at least imo. -
Personally I think the issue would be the lore we currently have for Ascians isn't enough to really make a concrete character with. All of them being basically demigods with unfair connections aside, the lore on them is juuuust shaky enough that SE can pretty much just insert some BS that obliterates in its entirety our current understanding of what the Ascians are, how many of them can be in Eorzea at once, and if they can even exist properly in general. For example, in 1.0 Ascians were this super fucking creepy specter looking thing that you see out of nowhere just skulking around after a quest. They never properly explain what they were, only that you would get wrecked if you messed with one. In 2.0, they became ghost specter things that possess people or some such and they explained away what you saw in 1.0 with something like they can choose how you see them or you only see them certain ways due to lolreasons and in 2.0 they lolplotreasons it away without ever actually transitioning between the two. Or showing both EVER. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the Ascians ended up being people from the Dragon Quest VIII equivalent of the Shadow World or something that can grow eight hundred arms and blow up stars with their mind. I do seem to remember Lahabrea being in the same area as the MC when Ultima weapon nuked an entire fortress and he was fine, so at this point SE just does whatever they want with em imo.
