Generally do not have this anxiety, probably because I vastly prefer roles where I can have a larger impact and compensate for others mistakes. So I play healer and tank. What I -DO- have is an intense cynicism and growing hatred for people who mess up unrepentantly. This does not mean I rage or yell at rookies; I generally am super happy to tell them tactics and take a few wipes as a given. ...But the DPS who pull when I'm tanking. the DPS who stand in orange stuff when I am healing, The tank who doesn't use their defensive stance and angrily goes "Fine." when I tell them to because my Mp hits 0% on trash. I HATE them with a burning passion.

Does your character have a trinket of some sort?
Lekka Meyren replied to Kage's topic in Character Workshop
Lekka has a home-made deck of cards. They're time-worn and very used, hand crafted by her mother; and they remind her of just being a little family, in a land where everyone wasn't so tiny. -
balmung Seeking Contacts: Elezen Scholar-Botanist
Lekka Meyren replied to Syranelle Ironleaf's topic in Chronicled Connections
Oooh, now you have the writer in me curious! I could definitely see Syranelle penning some things for you, if she's found to be an acceptable writer. Is there an actual website/blog of publications or is it just hand-waved into existence? Inquiring minds want to know! The way I've handled books and collected works so far is to have the authors come up with a brief for the kind of story their character would write. So if you wrote a romance, you give a brief description of what the story holds. These are then accepted as "IC" once the printing and such is done, and collated on a forum threat on the AIM(shivtr) forums. The idea is basically that other characters who know Lekka or the authors can include this in their RP; And the books do not need to be excessively described in detail as I figure every character who reads them has their own slightly different take-away. It's honestly almost purely flavour, but it gave Lekka a good purpose as a business woman. -
balmung Seeking Contacts: Elezen Scholar-Botanist
Lekka Meyren replied to Syranelle Ironleaf's topic in Chronicled Connections
The word "Scholar" in the title prompted me to click on this. Lekka is a Abalathian born lady who within the last year moved to Ul'dah and came into the employ of AIM.(Artifice, Invention and Manufacturing) While working for the company, she studied hard and eventually founded her own business venture; a publishing company. They've published a few books so far, and I'm approaching the point where I will advance the plot to involve more books and authors and all sorts. So should your lady have authorly ambitions, there is a promising new publisher whom is always seeking independent authors. Other than that I suppose I should also plug AIM in general, should she be in need of manufacture or invention at some point. Business RP is always fun. -
Describe another character with a .gif
Lekka Meyren replied to ChewableMorphine's topic in Fun Prompts
Lekka: -
At the moment I believe it is almost impossible to create a character on either Balmung or Gilgamesh without paying for a character transfer. It is however totally possible for you to just keep playing on Siren until you can do that and then move over to one of the more active RP servers. - Basically the reason it's like this is that Gilgamesh and Balmung are legacy servers, and with the release of Heavensward so many more people have come back to playing actively, in addition to it being summer... So it's basically always "full".

Welcome! I think you'll find a place here quite nicely, Eorzea and it's RP community offers a huge range of different RP, just have to find your favourite -

I believe that's the "Halonic/ishgardian" armour that drops in the Aery. I got it off the last boss in there, but seems tank drops are few and far between as it was the only piece I got on the way to 60. -
A lot of Mi'qote Roleplayers I've interacted with play off the whole "Letter is your tribe" thing. Meaning if the name was M'isha you are Isha of the M tribe. - So maybe make the decision based on that?

My FC has a lot of Roe, so it certainly feels like more than 7%, but I suppose as censuses have shown too, there are not that many of us. Have never had an all Roe Duty finder party.

balmung Host Club | Rendezvous | June Opening!
Lekka Meyren replied to Flora's topic in Chronicled Events
Was fun! I happened to see the event timer on RPC just as it had started and took a walk down. (Handy being in the same ward) Definitely reccomended for others who feel they need to get their character out a bit more. -
I like to interpret it as a sort of "Minding their own business" culture. As you say they clearly have a tradition of discarding names that would be hard for the other races to remember or pronounce... ..Though I also kinda like to think that those names matter to them; individually. A lot of the RP I've had with other Roegadyn revolves around names and a common perspective on Eorzea. The truth of it though is that you could totally play a pious roegadyn. I imagine if you were one of the mages who are revered for their magic in the spine; then you might be a little more preoccupied with the whole magic and gods thing. Or you could've been raised to me a knower of magicks but deciding that the family "rituals" were superstition... Play it how you like!

EU players on the NA RP servers Balmung/Gilgamesh
Lekka Meyren replied to Threndual's topic in RP Discussion
Also EU, My main group is mostly american, but with their different timezones there's almost always someone on, and many of the events I'm able to attend comfortably. Another upside now that the servers are constantly struggling is that as an EU player on a "Us" server, you can actually log in and play. -
You're roughly right that this is most the lore we have on hellsguard. I think some source mentions that rather than just heading out for glory, their children often leave because they keep families small. (Largely due to "More mouths to feed" type logic) - But that their children often enjoy more success in the outside world. I'm not 100% sure on that as "established fact", but I used that as a little thing for Lekka's lore. In the end you can probably just handwave most things you want for hellsguard lore as being "your family" and it's peculiar ways. Lekka is RP'ed as being from abalathia, and while this is a big part of her identity, it really isn't a thing she swings around a lot. It just serves as a starting perspective for why she isn't 100% knowledgeable about everything; and why she has her own particular world view imbued by her parents. - Not sure there are a tonne of Hellsguard who RP being from the mountains though, most I've met were Ul'dah or Limsan citizens, regardless it's always fun to meet another hellsguard for Lekka IC.

Haha, Thanks! I was going for "My OC wants to sell you perfume".

Your skin colour versus your character's skin colour
Lekka Meyren replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
Similar to many others here; Lekka is dark skinned and I'm "Norwegian White". (The distinction is I have such a low D-vitamine intake I need pills in winter) Mostly aesthetic choice, She looks amazing in yellow. -
So! Apparently I now also do Youtube videos. This came about because I realised I can record with Camtasia on my mobile drawing tablet. So this is all drawn on and uploaded from a Cintiq Companion 2! Sc7tGXNSWf8 vBOMBL0RIzU Also some updated coloured work:

Lekka got herself a new workout outfit! -
Would've probably been a bigger problem for the FFXI incarnations who actually had fur rather than smooth skin.

Reasoning for irregular race/nationality combinations
Lekka Meyren replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
Yeah the level of discrimination in the ishgardian armed forces is really awful. -
What I appreciate the most in RP is when a scene develops in such a way that any participant can jump on the many "hooks" presented in a way that makes sense to them. By that I mean presenting opportunity, rather than outright deciding everything that happens. If my character is heavilly wounded I might act out her symptoms; and a medically trained character might be able to discern the cause. ( In that situation I don't have to decide all the details of the injury, my character only knows her symptoms after all; and ooc I can give some details of what happened, allowing the medical character to play with it) That really is kind of the core tenet of what makes me enjoy RP, and it can even apply in simpler situations like conversations. (Though it really shines in situations where the story develops because of the specific characters, their assumptions and skills impacting it.)

balmung Independent Book publisher seeks talent
Lekka Meyren posted a topic in Chronicled Connections
On a job-listings board you spot a headline written in elaborate script. "Writers, artists and poets wanted!" Upon closer inspection the flier it appears to be a open call for submissions. It reads: "Eorzea's contemporary arts need support, and we are here to support them. Offering payment for finished works and artists salaries for comissioned pieces, we aim to create a publishing company that can represent the undiscovered artists of our era. Our offer is simple: Convince us that you are the next rising star of Eorzean fiction, and we will handle all matters of printing, publishing and promoting. Your job as the artist is simply to create and follow your vision." Should you wish to inquire further, please contact: Felicity Tinker ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: This is a project of my main character Lekka, presented here by her associate in the venture. The basic idea is to exploit some of the un-used talent that doubtless exists among the masses of the populace. It is presented as a Patronage to art, and that is true in many ways, though obviously it would never happen if it was going to be a zero-profit venture. That said! If you have a character whose soul burns with the passion to create stories and have them published for others to read; perhaps this is the perfect opportunity! As an additional OOC note, I am EU timezone. So should it be that you are super interested but our times rarely overlap, I am sure we could arrange some correspondence in the form of PM's/ingame letters acting as the communication between publisher and writer. -
Reasoning for irregular race/nationality combinations
Lekka Meyren replied to Seriphyn's topic in RP Discussion
As others have stated almost perfectly with memes... Here we go again. I'm going to simply ask: Do they need a reason, really? I mean as long as they're not making up their own lore wildly and deciding to be a vampire tribe of Mi'qote Ishgardians who secretly run the place.. Why should they need to justify themselves. I agree with all exceptions obviously, if you're just out to completely break lore to play your own thing; then expect people to take issue simply because they don't want their character influenced by things that seem inherently "wrong" in their character arcs. ...But as a minority in real life I have a little bit of a hard time not having some cynicism around this line of thinking. Gods know we have enough of an IRL problem of the majority experience being expected and all minority experiences being doubted or pushed into neat little boxes to fit the narrative. Tl;DR: If it's not ruining your character arc in some way and it's not completely cross with the lore - It's highly likely you're overthinking it from the perspective of a majority experience. It's not that freaking unlikely that some mi'qote walked up north at some stage.
