Welcome to the RPC! Somewhere around here is another thread about rp on Faerie. I'd recommend giving the forums a good once over!

Looking for ways to slow down plots.

My point was more of, let says you and your friend are ingame and decide to RP walk from the 2 city-states. Mean while, Another of your friends is sitting at a tavern. So you and your pal walk to Ul'dah, it took 10 minutes but RP wise it should be a few days. Meanwhile your buddy at the Tavern is visiting with a random. So what just took you 1 week just spanned into the time of your buddy emoting him pouring a drink. So you head back to Ul'dah, it's now been 2 weeks. You walk in and find your buddy still sitting in the same spot. "Buddy how ya been? Man its been 2 weeks since I last seen you!" And he just looks at you in confusion because he's still working on the same drink as when you left lol. In other words, pacing really only works out best through forum RP or something similar. -

How pacing/timing is worked in an RP setting has always confused me. Time paces so quickly then enjoying an RP at the Quicksand and you and mother steps outside and it's technically 3pm Eorzea time. So do you RP it still being nighttime? Or is it now 3pm and you spent the whole night/day at a bar? I believe all that confusion would interfere with pacing as well. Gather research for instance, should take days, weeks or even months. But do 5 rl days go past and then you're good to go? 5 rl days are not much, but considering that's been like 2 months ingame, then what? Another example is you walk to Ul'dah from Gridania. It takes you say 10 minutes. But shouldn't that of been closer to at least a few days? So in my opinion, pacing is always going to be screwed. -
OOC NOTES: Now is your chance to have your own bodyguard that is not a boring NPC! Looking to roleplay a bodyguard type character and as such, I need somebody to guard. Following are just a few ideas or examples of where I could be of use. Are you a business owner worried bout break ins and need security? I'M YOUR MAN! Are you a spoiled rich girl that daddy hires a bodyguard for? I'M YOUR MAN! Are you a fat wealthy merchant needing armed escort across the desert? I'M YOUR MAN! Are you literally anyone who needs protection from some thing or other? I'M YOUR MAN! I would prefer this to be a longer term RP I can side along with as a partner character in the RP. I will still have my own thoughts and opinions I will voice RP wise, as well as offer story ideas on an OOC level. As far as what I'm open to during the extent of our RP. Dark/Mature themes welcome. As for relationships, open to the following: Strictly Professional, Friendships, Old Acquaintances, or Romance. (character is straight so only works with female characters. Real life gender does not matter) Please note however, my playtimes are mostly guaranteed between the hours of 10:00pm - 2:00am EST. I'm a late night Rper so if you RP outside of those times we will be missing each other quite often and I'd like to avoid that if possible, as I'm sure you would too. If you are interested you can either send me a pm here or contact me through Skype: SicketySix For anyone else, as usual still open for any type of RP contacts. Some of you may notice I am already on your friends list since I fantasied one of my characters. WIKI: Coming Soon. But feel free to pm/Skype me anything further you'd like to know and I'd be happy to explain or talk plot details. Sorry for the horrible quality screenie. I grabbed real quick from what I had of him before heading to work. It will at least give you an idea on his character design. Thanks! (also, someone posted a need for a bodyguard last week. If you are reading this I could not locate your post)

Excitement is good! Besides it's wayyy better than the recent trend of Welcome Threads where for some odd reason they decide to turn it into a "woe is me" by posting their mental/physical issues. So thank you for that:thumbsup:

You remind me of the type off person who probably typed this while squealing out loud amd jumping up and down at your PC.

Dacein would look between the two Au'ra and chuckled to himself quietly as he began to put two and two together, He'd let down his guard for the time being and would turn into his mellow self once more "The fish was quite fine good sir, surely you must be a masterful chef to have arranged such exquisite flavor with so few ingredients" he'd reply to him, clueing him in that he knew what was going on by shooting the man a wink and a nod of his head towards the flower sorting girl. "She hit the ground rather hard if the sounds of it are any clue" he'd smile tauntingly at Aiswynd "Perhaps you ought to tend to her and see if anything is broken, maybe mend a few scratches, we wouldn't want the young woman to have unattended injuries, now would we?" he'd finish with a small chuckle -

[ His sword lingers in the air still pointed in her direction, the blade glowing almost as if it was orange, caused by the blade reflecting the embers of the fire. He'd slowly lower his blade, but instead of discarding in a show of goodwill as he had done earlier, he now attached it to the belt on his left hip and would hold the hilt tightly with his left hand. It did not make him feel any more comfortable knowing that the Au'ra had friends about. He'd nod his head in a silent greeting before backing slowly away from her, never turning his back to either of the Auri. He thought he had seen her stash a weapon, thought none was to be found. Still, he was not about to trust much anyone in these forests, not even the innocent looking ones. "Do you always skip through the night while carrying flowers?' he'd ask eyeing her suspiciously. He'd look to the male Au'ra and wonder where the sudden awkwardness he felt in the air had come from. Was the man blushing, or perhaps it was the glow of the fire, he couldn't be quite sure but he;d silent back up to thr etree behind him and rest his back and right leg against it, still firmly gripping the sheathed sword with his left hand. -
I would say its lightly fetishized. I can see how you'd say that, and its probably not untrue. It's pretty representative of the actual me, so you could say I'm living a slightly fetishy life depending on how you look at things. Do you think adding more about some of my other exploits and hobbies would be a good idea to offset that somewhat. I think that would help! The love for food and the character's weight/size are a good starting point and make the character stand out, but I think some more unrelated details would help the character seem more three-dimensional and fleshed out! I agree, but just the fact that I've yet to see anyone RP an out-of-shape-ish charcater is interesting

Haha oh man, I must admit I've never seen anyone RP a heavy character before. She sounds both hilarious and interesting!

What future game releases are you most looking forward to?
Branson Thorne replied to Dravus's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
These publishers should really start crowdfunding localisations. I'm sure it's not that simple, but for games like Dragon's Dogma Online, I'm sure there's enough demand outside of bleepin Japan. It's just sad that they seem to dump it in the "more trouble than it's worth" bin. Sorry for the quick rant. As a Dragon's Dogma fan, I am le disappoint :tonberry: Since DDO is out of the question, the only game release I'm looking forward to is Dark Souls 3. Been a fan since Demons' Souls. Dragons Dogma was just a beautiful game. I loved everything about it. I would classify it in the top 3 games I've ever played. -

Dacein had just started to take a bite of the fish that the male Au'Ra had thrown to him, when in the darkness he heard a crash. Instinctively in a swift second he was on his feet, twirled in place and retrieved his sword and withdrew it from the sheath. He peered into the darkness straining to make out any shape of wild beast or man. The darkness seemed to shroud out his vision, his eyes having adjusted to the bright glow of the fire. He soon began to male out a shape upon the ground and he'd step towards the fallen figure. "SHOW YOURSELF!" he bellowed into the darkness, his laid back personality from before was fueled with a burning energy he only felt in combat. His grip strengthend on the hilt of the freshly sharpened blade as he approached the dark figure "Who goes there? I shall not ask again" his words icey and cold. He'd pause just feet away,, sword drawn, awaiting the reply. -

I do not approve of this, have been trying to locate you in-game for a week now lol -
I myself will usually walk to where I am going with the exception of it being half way across Eorzea. Then I will pop a teleport and usully appear to be a little dizzy or something. But seldom have I had need to teleport anywhere during an RP session.

I used to be wary of it as well, but it suits one of my characters perfectly and now I look forward to heading there. The RP and just the people/conversations in general can be very entertaining!

Welcome back to the game man. Feel free to walk on up if you see Cullen West anyways around.
