Compliments Galore! Compliment The Poster Above You!
Renata Turner replied to Y'lani's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Anndd I've just found the second hottest Midlander evar... -
Eorla has no reason at the moment to journey to Ishgard. Renata, on the other hand...Percival has family in Ishgard, and where one goes, the other is not far away. He's leaving the moment he gets word that the gates have opened. Renata is tending to a few matters...making sure Eorla will be alright, taking care of some business affairs, and packing for her journey (icly. Oocly, I can't get HW until the 24th when I have my birthday monies lol). She won't be far behind Percival.

*dies* LMFAO! (Literally! lol) This thread, man.... But I have Highlanders. And I have a Mi'qote for craps and giggles when I don't want to feel like I need to grind for tomes, or atma, etc. And she is the Supreme Sassmaster. She had to be because she kept getting hit on. And I don't mean flirted with, nothing wrong with flirting. But Eorla? I've gotta keep her heavy coat on, even in Ul'dah, because if she wears what she wants to wear, everyone's got something to say. From the people who know her, it's "Um, wtf you doin', Yor?" and from the people who don't know her it's "Hey bby let's make our own beast quest". Renata just wears the riviera dress in general and saves the short skirt and hempen camise for Percival's eyes only. But Eorla has no riviera dress. Not yet anyways.

balmung The Grindstone - Saturdays at 10 PM EST (9 PM Central)

Not gonna lie, seeing you say "Am I really in the semi-final?!" and then disconnect had at least me waiting to see if you'd make it back. The drama! Oh man, I was like "WTF! Really?!" And then I was on Skype, asking someone to tell you and Caleb I was on my way back...and then it was taking FOREVER to sign back in... I was biting my nails on that, haha. -
Renata's evolution is not a physical one.... When I brought her over to Balmung, I wrote her to be cold, distant, angry. She hated everyone and everything, with the exception of her cousin and her lifelong friend. She was this way even more with men, often aggressively hostile towards them. And if you were a Garlean, well, forget it. She got into a lot of fights at the beginning. She did have a soft spot for children, and as such, if a person was a child, or even a Lalafell, she was neutral. Never hostile, never angry, she was kind to them all. Except the one Lala who refused to get out from under her skirt because he was trying to peek at her underthings...he got punted across the Ul'dahn street. She was also very sensitive to the suffering of others, and if one carried such a burden, she would leave them be, choosing not to add to their suffering with her angry nature. She and her lifelong friend got into an argument, and things were said to her that wounded her deeply. She went to the Quicksand to drown her hurt in some strong drinks...and then a blonde-haired Midlander by the name of Percival said to her "I know that feeling..." And as a little time began to pass, she began to thaw. She tried to resist. She got angry. He stayed calm in the face of her rage. She ran. He followed. She pushed, he stood his ground. And one night, she cried. Not a pretty, "Oh my god your tears are beautiful" type of way. She ugly-cried and told him that it would be best if he forgot he'd ever met her. He pretty much told her that was bullshit, and he'd never forget her, because he didn't want to. Though innuendos were exchanged, he never once tried to get into her pants. At that moment, he was exactly what Renata needed. A true, honest, loyal friend. Ironically, it was Renata the snow-queen who first expressed that she was falling in love with him. They became a couple. And then, he told her he loved her. Renata today is a different woman, though she is still made of steel and forged in fire. She is softer around the edges, but her temper is still nothing to be laughed at when it is provoked. She is still very uncomfortable around people she does not know, men in particular, though she is, if nothing else, calmly polite. The dynamic between Renata and Percival is truly wonderful to witness. He is not her white knight, because he knows his girl is no damsel in distress. Were it ever an issue, he would be quick to defend her honor...after he gave her the chance to defend it herself. Renata would have been offended if he treated her as fragile and weak...and she is grateful that he sees her strength and does not automatically attempt to swoop in and 'save the day'. She values his heart and mind (and thinks he's pretty damn good-looking to boot), and he's careful with her heart, the only part of her that truly might be considered fragile. Nothing was rushes, everything was allowed to unfold at their intended pace, and I see Ren and Perci as true equals, fortifying each other's weaknesses and enhancing each other's strengths. Renata's path has been NOTHING like I planned it for her, and watching it unfold has been an amazing and beautiful thing to watch.

I think my most constantly used phrase last night was: "No. Fucking. Way." Renata has NEVER made it out of the first round. And last night, not only did she make it out of the first round (defeating her boyfriend...and Percival is a way more skilled fighter than Ren), she kept winning before being defeated by Caleb in the semifinals. My jaw literally dropped. Great night, seriously. And congrats to Caleb for taking the victory. -
I'm in. Both Eorla and Renata. I'll look you up.

When Renata realized she had some feels: And then she got scared because vulnerabilities: Even though she was scared silly: And now she knows. And it wasn't what I wanted for her when I wrote her. I wanted her to be prickly, bitchy, hostile, aggressive... But GDI all if it hasn't been one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed: the melting of the snow queen.

^^^^^And to that I add.... (Though I'm sure Bryn would not approve of Renata's boyfriend either lol...best Midlander man ever though!)

Mercurias is one of the few that can handle more than 3 or 4 characters, and I must give props to that and to him! Seriously Niklas, you post too much here. Maybe take a few weeks out. I've seen Howl a couple times here and there, and though neither Renata nor Eorla have interacted with him, I think he's just an all-around good guy. -
Eorla is a short short Highlander. I feel your pain. *fistbump*

1. Edit your player search info, set the comment to say "Roleplayer. Walk-up friendly. /tell friendly". If you're tell friendly, that is. 2. Renata, one of my chars, only briefly interacted with Warren last night at the Grindstone, and let me tell you, I was oocly nervous about approaching him! I get nervous approaching ANYONE off of here...but what works for me is I usually just send a /tell saying "Just saying hi from the RPC!" It might not get an rp out of it, but it's just letting people know "Hi! I'm here!" 3. I have many of the same social reservations as you, and have been on Balmung about as long as you as well. Biggest lesson I learned in the first week? No one is really going to jump all over your arse (can I say arse?) just for sending a tell saying "Hi!" 4. I can't even count the number of people on my friends list thanks to another favorite OOC pastime of mine....complimenting people. Yes, that's right. I'm sure a few of the fine people on here can tell you that they've gotten a tell from me just saying something "That armor is awesome" or "Ooo a shiny weapon!". 5. Even if the rp is only a few sentences in length, it can still leave a lasting impression. On my first day on Balmung, Eorla was warned by Gwannes that she shouldn't trust someone with a feather in his hat. About a week later Reddard asked her to fart (no joke) near Edda and Gwannes to cause a distraction (she declined, aghast). So now, Gwannes and Reddard have both made a lasting impression on my char. They might not remember Eorla, but Eorla remembers them, and that can be a lead-in to a future encounter. They were peculiar enough as to not be forgotten. 6. You don't like to plan. You need to get over that or you will only ever have short, fleeting moments of RP.

..... 1. I have triggers. But I also realize that while I can ask people to respect that, not everyone will, and I deal accordingly. Trauma that happened to me should not affect the lives of others. Certain triggers, I draw the line at, but others I know are not intended to further traumatized me. Thankfully I am at a point where I can choose to refuse givingthe pperpetrators further power over my life. Not everyone is. 2. What in the everlasting frig did I walk into when I joined this community? The majority of you are great people...but dang, this crepe is crazy. I did not realize the RPC had turned into an online Baltimore. -
Does your character have a trinket of some sort?

Renata's mother had a shawl from when she would enter the fighting ring. Renata always wears it. Unless she's in Coerthas. It's too cold for that. She also has a red coral ring that her mother gave her, that she has only ever taken off once. -

Maybe it should just be called "The Meeting of Interested FCs Who Want to Learn to Mingle and Do Other Things Really Good Too"? I think, from reading the thread, the word "Summit" is what turned some people off. Summits, in mainstream culture, usually bring to mind the G8 Summit, peace talks, and the ilk. That said, I think the spirit and intent are noble, and if I were able to, I'd represent my fc in a heartbeat, alas, I have not been with them long enough to feel comfortable asking the FC leaders to attend, though I will make sure they know of it...and my alt is being auctioned off that evening, lol. -
Renata would have smiled in the picture...but she doesn't do that. And it might have scared everyone away.
