Welcome to Balmung! Tis a silly place, but rewarding once you get your feet wet and learn how to swim so to speak! I have a few resources I could toss your way to get you started~ One would be joining the Balmung Roleplayers discord if you haven't yet! it's a wonderful community, and brings us all together in one place. The second, would be the Open RP LS! It's a Social/OOC LS that works not only as a communication hub, but they ping events and such that are happening around the server. Then there is Acronycal, an IC/RP LS that works like a community pearl that characters can talk on and meet up at random. Lamia is very sympathetic to the plight of the domans, and keeps his doors open to them in terms of giving them a place to go and get their bearings. As well as food, and drink in the form of tea. Open Rp and acronycal are both linkshells, best part about those! Is that you can join up to seven all at the same time~ So no need to try one out and then the other, you can be in both at the same time! Their basically player made chat channels, and if you want to hunt for others to join, there is the linkshell hall here on the RPC that's full of some good ones. As for Wanderer's, were in the housing district of goblet near Ul'dah. Ward 1, plot 25. Your free to wander in at anytime, no pun intended. Lamia's usually there unless he's out on errands, but your free to whisper me in game as well on Lamia Vuinuet to give me a poke~

One is an OOC/Social Linkshell Called Open RP, it's a wonderful group full of role players and you get event pings as well in terms of what is going on for that day within the RP community. Then theres Acronycal, an IC/RP linkshell that is basically a linkpearl your character randomly finds, and can start chatting with other characters all over Eorzea. It's great for fleshing out how your character interacts with others on a more verbal scale. As for Fc's, if you don't mind a small but Active (daily) FC, I could recommend Wanderer's Respite. Or even just popping in if you'd like. We're a social lounge, and center around giving those who walk in our door interaction. Conversation, company, etc. So perhaps your character may be interested in employment? Or merely popping in to make new friends, or get to know some new faces? Either way! Your welcome to speak to me for more information n.n

Welcome to Eorzea! And roleplay within it as well :3 If you love those kinds of stories, then your going to adore the main story. Even if it's a bit slow to start at first, once it starts rolling your going to be in for a riiiiide. As for your questions, I shall do my best to help! How open is everyone to a new player in the group? It rather depends on the group your with, some are super welcoming of new player and others are not so much. Best advice would be to ask any Free Company (guilds) your looking into joining if they would be alright with someone new, and would be open to helping you learn the ropes and offer a helping hand. As far as the general population however? I've only come across people who are welcomeing of newbies, and are even excited to know that we have fresh faces to the community and the game in general. So as far as general walk-ups go? I think you'll be alright How easy is it to transfer to Balmung? Very easy. Your characters just need to be three days old (72hours) and finished the first few quests with the adventurer's guild within the main city. After that it's about 20$ to tranfer a character, but here is the good part. You get to transfer up to 8 characters, who are on the same server, at the same time for no additional cost! And considering Your characters will all get a free fantasia as your first veteran reward. That means you have 7 potential alts alongside your main already on balmung when you want/need them. And if you name them all after names already taken on balmung. That's a free name change for each of them as well! Does everyone get really strict on naming conventions? Some do, some don't It honestly depends on the person. Thankfully there is a really handy set of name generators out there to help you! Such as this hyur one here. How far can I get being lore handicapped? Quite far. The MSQ (Main story quests) teach you A LOT about the world around you, and various aspects of it. By 50, you should have a pretty solid grasp on the basics, and be able to learn the rest on your own through RP with various different characters. Or by chatting with people if your curious about aspects.

Welcome back to Eorzea~! I took a poke at the character wiki and she seems like a really awesome character to start back up again with, and one that Lamia would no doubt enjoy talking to. Specially about the comparisons/differences between the Ishgardian Nobility, and the Doman nobility as well as more about the doman culture in general. So I'd adore to meet her in rp for sure! About employment, I may be able to offer something as well. Wanderer's Respite is currently in the process of building it's public library and could use a librarian, as well as a book keeper. Lamia tried to maintain the ledgers himself, but he's far from skilled or knowledgeable in the matter. Her contributions would help a ton, and she'd get rp daily as well given how active we are despite our small size. If your interested in either, feel free to shoot me a PM! Or an in game whisper~

I've ended up in this same corner a lot in the past as chapters upon a characters life story come to a close, and I'm left with the question of: is this where the novel ends? or where a new chapter begins? Depending on personal preference, on if you wish to continue playing the character or not. New opportunities and the new 'stage' of their character development can easily come from exposing them to new people. New friends, new opportunities, you'd be surprised at what doors open up sometimes for characters just by finding and talking to people they haven't met before. And would perhaps push the boundaries of the small cluster you described yourself being in? Easier said then done perhaps, specially with the character being a dotharl and depending on how they may be. But if their looking for a new lease on life, and to go a new direction, a semi-fresh start socially may be the right path to take~ I'd be more then willing to offer my characters for yours to rp with and see what may come of it, and I even have an elder Dotharl myself I'll offer up as well. n.n
