balmung Genko & Khokanchin Chrysanthemum Festival - 10/25, 7 PM EST

I'd like to sign up Ruri Shingetsu as both a Merchant and an archer for the contest. Ruri will be representing Shingetsu Fishery and promises to fill the bellies of both the living and the dead with delicious food. -

Throwing in my vote for Mateus. There's a small cluster of us, but we're trying our damned hardest to create a thriving roleplay community. -
When it comes to amnesia, I feel like it can be done very sloppily or very well. Which is why I also agree with researching cases of amnesia to see how it works in real life and how it can be played. It really depends on how you use it. For example, I've played Chouwa for almost over a year now. When I gave her the amnesia, I wasn't intending on retconing anything that had happened to her prior to the memory loss. Everything that had happened still happened, Chouwa had forgotten certain events. All the characters who knew her still knew her, she just wouldn't remember some faces. If you play your cards right, amnesia can be a good plot tool. For example, Chouwa was recently remembered someone who she was very close with before the amnesia, someone she had treated like a stranger after her accident. The next time she meets him again she's going to apologize. Do your research, plan out how your character is going to react, and if you're giving it to a character who's already out in the world, make sure to let roleplay partners know the amnesia is a thing.

I really wish Square would give us SOMETHING, ANYTHING on lore about Red Mage. We've gotten so much on Samurai that it's not even funny and it's kind of unfair. My own personal theory is that it's origins are from Gyr Abania. Maybe not from Ala Mhigo directly, but definitely in the Gyr Abanian area.

Well! This blew up quite a bit more than I expected! Definitely going to move this into the genuine planning phases, please look forward to it~

I know for a fact there's Lace and Steel, which deals in all kinds of underground dealings, including prostitution. I know they're an fc, but if I remember correctly they do have a linkshell. As for other contacts, I can offer up either Chouwa Morrison in learning magic, or Ruri Shingetsu in learning how to fish. Wishing ya the best of luck.

Chouwa will never ever admit it...but she likes The Crucible. Yes it's a tabloid, yes it's complete and utter shite, and yes most if not all of it is false. She doesn't care, she reads the latest paper with her breakfast then gossips about them with a friend. Another is moko cigarettes. But that is becoming less and less guilty with each migraine that is successfully relieved.

I for one, welcome our fuzzy and pomtastic overlords, kupo!

I'm a little ticked off that Omega's the reason we're going to Ala Mhigo and not "Shit we've left these folks to rot for twenty years". It's treated like a goddamn afterthought. Hopefully things will change during Stormblood itself. Also I totally called the Yda/Lyse situation. -
Chou's an up and coming performer, so any resources involving performing would be awesome.
-
I agree with the bolded. It's a little frustrating trying to come up with a canon compliant reason for a character to become a red mage without any information what so ever.

Before I go hogwild into busting out linkshells and what not, I'd like to test the waters for an idea I had. So we all know of the wonderful invention known as linkpearls, which allow you to hear people over far distances. Basically ffxiv's radio system. Cue me a while back thinking you could potentially run a radio station over a linkpearl. The idea won't leave me alone and a character of mine (Who really needs a wiki or something) has become intertwined with linkpearl stations and all that entails. Thus this thread. Would anyone actually be interested in either putting on performances over a pearl and potentially listening? An alternate idea I had was something akin to Potterwatch. A cluster of individuals reporting on the going ons in Doma with a very resistance feel to them. But, it all depends.

Chouwa smells like knives and passion. Somehow...that's exactly how I expect her to smell.

New player with lots of questions about tiny lore details
TK Hikaru replied to Brighthawk's topic in Character Workshop
Hi there! Welcome to FFXIV, hope you and your group of friends have a wonderful time playing the game. As for your answers... 1. Story hooks involving memory loss are interesting. You can have a cluster of people offering to try and help you remember what it was that you lost, a faction that believes you shouldn't try to search for what's there, and a group that simply don't care. 2. I'm not too sure if they're a family perse, but there's a group of Keeper poachers in the Shroud known as the Coeurlclaws. They're infamous enough to be known throughout the Shroud and seem to function much like a gang. So, there is a precedent for a (in)famous family of Keepers. 3. Dragoons can be fairly simple. One can say they were mentored by a retired dragoon to have the requisite skills. Plunking a retired dragoon in the area of your character is a bit harder. Generally speaking, Coerthas or The Shroud is your best bet for having a dragoon hide out in. Summoners are harder ic. A summoner requires either the echo, or a way to withstand getting Tempered. Try to figure out the reason and hope for the best. 4. It really depends on the roleplayer. Some use their classes/jobs in their character, some ignore their class/job to create something entirely different for their character. 5. Depends on the character. A fortune teller is a natural for astrologian, while someone highly in-tune to the elements is suited for conjurer. Scholar is a bit harder, seeing as lorewise, the job was lost along with the city of Nym. 6. The au ra arrived alongside Yugiri. However, it is easy to say your Xaela friend arrived later, given the strife between Raen and Xaela. -
WoL!Chouwa would be torn between a friend date with Yda because the poor girl's lost too many people, or a friend date between Aymeric because Oschon almighty the poor guy needs to get out more. RP!Chou would take her wife and (hard to define)datemate.

balmung Friendly Miqo looking for LS/anyone!
TK Hikaru replied to omnoriaaa's topic in Chronicled Connections
Welcome aboard! Chouwa is a very sociable hyur who's a bit of a miqo'te magnet. She'd probably offer your miqo a muffin or two and a listening ear. Feel free to hit me up in game for some rp, I'm about as threatening as a wet slice of salami. -
So Chouwa's been dealing with chronic medical issues since the ambush in January. Namely nasty headaches and nerve pain. The one thing that kills both of her pain effectively is fogweed. While I could npc the drug dealer, I thought it would make for some interesting interaction as well as potential character growth if another player character was the drug dealer. In short, I'm looking for someone who sells fogweed. The only things I really request is that the dealer is discreet and that the weed isn't laced with the harder stuff. Other than that, anything goes.

Honestly? As long as you're not hurting anyone else and you're happy, I say play whatever you want. The whole 'It's popular so it sucks' mentality is a bunch of hog shit. Yes there are a lot of players who pick miqo'te because they're cute and tiny. However, some of the most fascinating and intriguing characters I've had the chance of meeting have been miqo'te. People are going to give you flack for playing the most popular race, it's gonna happen. Don't bend over backwards for the people who aren't going to be satisfied. Find the people who will enjoy your character no matter the race.

There's only one word to describe her. Wavering. Time has no meaning in the room they've confined her to. Her entire world consists of the room, the bed, and kind voice with gentle hands that cleans her wounds and changes her bandages every so often. Moments, minutes, bells and full suns could pass and she'd be none the wiser, drifting in and out of consciousness as if she's passing through umbral and astral eras. She knows what happened -the voice told her-, knows she woke up that sun to deliver supplies, remembers the old woman with wrinkled hands and a fiery spirit to match her own. Remembers the breath she took before entrusting herself to the aether, guided by Camp Drybone's aetheryte. She can't remember the trek to the Black Shroud, or the ambush that occurred past Highbridge. The healer in Drybone told her how the first bullet passed through her arm, and how the second grazed the back of her head. She doesn't remember how her flesh gave way to super heated metal, nor does she remember her red hair running black with blood before the sticky mess is sheered away to keep the head wound clean. Between Little Ala Mhigo and Drybone, there is a gap. A tangible memory fading into mirage. Injured as she is, there's nothing she can do. The memory falls through her hand as easily like sand. In sleep, images bleed and blend like watercolors. Spoken surround her broken and weak frame. She knows she's supposed to remember them, but blurred faces have no name, warped voices have no ties to her. When awake, she wonders why it frustrates her that there's gaps of blankness between arriving in Ul'dah at seventeen and coming to Limsa Lominsa with an ax at her back at twenty two.

If there's space for one more Ala Mhigan sympathizer, I'd like to volunteer Chouwa Morrison. Something like this might actually provoke her to giving a shit about the fight for her homeland.

Chouwa doesn't drink anymore (Alcoholism will do that to a girl), but she was typically the happy drunk when she actually got drunk (again, alcoholism will do that to a girl). Chatty, laughing and generally having a good time.

Character Name: Chouwa Morrison Wiki link/short description: Bloop Have you completed the MSQ up until end of 3.4: Yes My character should be anonymous: Yes/No/Either works

Honestly, I've been hoping for RDM since Stormblade was announced. It seemed like a pretty cool class in combining melee with magic spells. And the absolute roleplay dweeb in me hoped for it for Chouwa. RDM is definitely replacing rogue as Chou's ic class. Given her reconnecting with her aether and her issues with her right arm, a class that mixes blades and magic is a pretty good middle ground.
