2. I couldn't resist... "Oh shit, it's Hydaelyn. . . mingle! Pretend you're not here!" She doesn't see me. She doesn't see me. She doesn't see me.
3. JH-RP: Now with bigger.... canons! (New poses are ♥! The long awaited Highlander sit).
4. Personal Profile Character Name: Odette Saoirse. Gender: Female. Race: Hyur (Highlander). Domestic Profile Civil Status: Currently in a relationship. Place of Residence: Ala Mhigo -> Ul'Dah -> Limsa Lominsa -> Mist, Ward 8. Occupation: Swashbuckler/Sailor, Bard, Unorthodox Scout, Revolutionary. Free Company: Jackal & Hide . Social Profile Odette Saoirse (Oh-dett Soar-she), also known as Odie or Ode, is a swashbuckling musician with a penchant for personal freedoms, rolling seas, strong drink and timeless chivalry. Easily confident, occasionally boisterous, mirthfully witty and unashamedly suave; she tends to get along well with most she comes into contact with - save for those whom would dictate how another should live. Long nights at sea saw her took to the arts, reveling in performances of the fiddle and violin. Despite the life she lives, a far cry from the warrior path of her parents before her, the woman retains a fierce patriotism for her homeland and many of it's customs. Meta Profile Odette is a Highlander that was born under a different name, having changed it once she took to the seas as a stowaway in her childhood. After making the arduous journey from the east in fled migration from Ala Mhigo and the invasion of the Garlean Empire with her clan-kin, she refused to meld with the dejected society of Little Ala Mhigo and set out to make her own fortune on the seas.
5. My character is also a CG suave type, a sailor turned bard. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to drop me a PM to discuss and/or help brainstorm and compare.
6. Odette's battle music! jvipPYFebWc
7. Personal preference is to always, always let those kind of things happen naturally and never plan for chemistry or IC perfection... but, that being said I hope you manage to find what you're looking for. Good luck!
8. I've definitely gotten teary in RP before, both for the tragic and the sweet. Especially when linked mood music. Gets me every time.
9. It was late in the afternoon that Odette passed by a colourful flyer that caught her eye in the dimming light of an orange-hued sunset. Pausing in her stride, the sassy siren backpedaled a single step to squint combined aesthetics of hickory lashes and ocean-hued eyes at the advertisement... and the somewhat familiar face upon it. "What...?" came the mutter from between full lips that almost instantly pulled into an amused smirk once initial surprise had passed. That same expression was quickly chased by a laugh that set freckles dancing upon bronzed cheeks, a loud exclamation following along the lines of, "Fokkin' Twelve Nathan. . ." Shaking her head, the bardess turned from the poster and she murmured anew, "Well, at least he drew t'long straw. Lad gets t'look like a stud rather than 'takin' a poundin' like some other unfortunate soul we know. Wonder how many palms were greased fer that?" Clearly amused, the Highlander returned to her set course with sauntered ease; chortling all the while for her own wit.
10. You could probably just do it/combine it with this preexisting thread, tbh. Your Character, Genderswapped!
11. Ugh. I got my dates and times mixed up with all the things going on lately. So sorry, please count Odette in for the next one.
12. Short bump for the above post! Just under twelve hours away, so be sure to line your stomachs (or don't!) and get those costumes ready! Start time of 19:00GMT, which is automatically converted here!
13. I actually put a lot of thought into my naming conventions, also. Though not technically her birthname as a Highlander, Odette's name is a combination of french and gaelic. In French the meaning of the name Odette is "Wealthy". In Anglo-Saxon the meaning of the name Odette is: "Little wealthy one". I have also heard it referenced as "Heroine". Her (unmentioned) middle name, Chauntea, is also French and means "Song". Her chosen surname is Saoirse, which is actually an Irish and Scottish given name meaning "freedom" or "liberty". Quite fitting for a character who venerates liberty, spent her years sailing and ended up as a bard. I also named her chocobo with the same idea in mind (and yes, I dyed it brown!): BAYARD: Old French name derived from the word baie, meaning "reddish brown" or "bright bay color." In medieval romances, this was the name of a magic horse from the legends of the chansons de geste ("Songs of Heroic Deeds") which was given to Renaud by Charlemagne. It belonged to the four sons of Aymon, and had the ability to grow larger or smaller as one or more riders mounted it. According to tradition, one of its foot-prints may still be seen in the forest of Soignes, and another on a rock near Dinant.
14. Shout out to Aethereal Warriors for the entertainment tonight in The Drowning Wench. :thumbsup:
15. I really hope there's some sort of official moratorium on pigtails for the foreseeable future. We're inundated in pigtails. I kinda wish the winning men's style was available for ladies, too. I definitely don't want Pigtails, but some more braids would be nice,or some low tied ponytails, stuff like that. I'm tired of messy short hair for females we have like what 2-3 depending on race this is what 4 now for some races? The Curls are nice, but I feel slightly ripped off because 2 our our hairs are the same damn hair just one has bangs one doesn't. The male hairs are nice, I just feel like Female hair we keep getting a lot of the same over and over again. I think some more "updo"s would be nice, especially for formal occasions. Right now, if one wishes to change their hairstyle for an event most of the options result in hair being cut or worn loose - at least for Highlanders. Not all of them have to be elegant either (as characters like my own aren't that fancy), just some stylized options. For a more feminine/formal example;
16. I actually like that these new additions are simple and clean, as opposed to being crazy anime styles or four different styles of pigtails. Very nice.
17. Theme: Autumn Stars, Turning of Seasons. Special Conditions: 3-8 Minutes Long. Performed at: Celebration of Autumn Stars Awarded: Second Place, 25000gp. Autumn Stars The moon was bright on Mhigan sands, The pale globe brought the tide, The cold green water's greedy hands, They clutched shore far and wide. There stood a man put out to sea, He told his love, 'My dear, When I’m gone, will you wait for me? I’ll come by end of year.’ CHORUS: ‘I will wait for you until the ice grows hot, Until the autumn sun grows cold, Until the high cliffs of Theuearl rot And lagoons of Rothlyt mould.’ The warrior boarded his ship, Sails sheeted far from home, The water gurgled at it's lip, And whitened into foam. Moons passed by, but ‘twas no more word, Came from that roving soul, No welcomed words were overheard, Nor letter on writ scroll. CHORUS: ‘I will wait for you until the ice grows hot, Until the autumn sun grows cold, Until the high cliffs of Theuearl rot And lagoons of Rothlyt mould.’ The seventh year men gave up hope, And swore that he was dead. They had the bell tolled thrice by rope, The burial words read. Then it was that the winds set cold, And danced from the south-east, The great salt water running bold, Lost lover’s eyes did weep. CHORUS: ‘I will wait for you until the ice grows hot, Until the autumn sun grows cold, Until the high cliffs of Theuearl rot And lagoons of Rothlyt mould.’ Gently did the cold wind blow on silken cheek, Lingering scent of tobacco cigars, Caressed whisper scattered damp streak, Became thus the Autumn stars.... 19. The book itself is worn, pressed parchment of yellowing papyrus bound in the tanned leather of some unidentifiable beast. It rests atop a larger book of similar make, though such is not to be spoken of now. Kept closed with the aid of flaxen-hued twine, contents scribed in old-fashioned ink and quill remain hidden from the world beyond. The text itself is written with sloppy elegance, each word a cursive dance upon the page and yet letters appear underformed and askew at times; unperfected. Contained within is private poetry and prose, written by bard Odette Saoirse.
20. Hah! This is pretty close to my character concept, though she's a bard/sailor rather than Machinist/Pirate (among other key differences).
21. Hello there, and welcome to the forums! Hopefully you can make it into Balmung soon and we'll see you about the place. Just a friendly reminder, however. I would recommend that you choose a forum image that is either a screenshot of your character, or artwork you have commissioned yourself. We have many artists here and many whom partake of those services by paying hard-earned money for commissions of their characters. Naturally, you are free to do as you please but as a mark of respect for the hard work that people do put into it, it might just be something to keep in mind in future. (If I am mistaken and that is your art, please feel free to disregard!)
22. Feel free to hit up Odette Saorise at any point. She's something akin to a mercenary as well, and is always after new contacts and/or drinking buddies.
