I don't mind having cross skills such as knowing your way around the pokey end of a spear and throwing in an aero spell, but what I don't like is when people master two or more classes or know 6 basic classes but their character is 18 years old. That kind of stuff irks me :dodgy:. I like to think of it in terms of college degree's. Having six associate degree's at the age of 18 or 2 doctorate degree's at 23 is pretty out there. Mastering a skill takes a lot of time. The way I approached it is my character comes from a long line of mercenaries and sellswords so she begun her training from an extremely early age. I was inspired to go this route because my Anatomy teacher was telling us a story about how he learned to shoot his first bow at the age of five because his entire family are archers who make their own bows from scratch. So him being 50 years old with 40+ years of training with the bow has probably made him pretty bad ass with one. Now back to my character...Despite this though and being 27, she still has not really mastered any of them, but is proficient in a few things, swords, axes, hand-to-hand combat. She also has a above aether content (I can't remember how to describe it. I remember the THM quest level 5 I think talks about a guy who couldn't become a THM because his aether content was too low), but has no idea how to use magic. This makes her more susceptible to magic debuff spells, like sleep, paralyze, and such. I think it's really important to give your character weaknesses, especially if they are going to be skill with multiple forms of combat. I'm leaving her open IC as far as which she will master. If she stays the way she is she might become a monk or maybe won't master anything. If she finds closure regarding the death of her father and finds his axe, she will go warrior as to follow in his footsteps. If she finds close friends and people to protect, she will take up the sword and shield and become a paladin. In short, its completely okay to know your way around a few classes, but let's not over do it and consider adding in the amount of time, effort, history, and your characters age into the equation.

Physical advantages of the races of Eorzia
LandStander replied to Khaze'to Zhwan's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I don't mind this sort of thing at all. But I think it also needs it's limitations. To hear someone whispering to someone else who may be laying in ambush out in Coerthas or something, definitely possible. To hear someone whispering to someone in a crowded and noisy bar, I would say that is pushing it. I didn't know about the Elezen's senses though. This is an awesome discussion ^^. To add to this, I remember reading that the Lallafell's were suppose to very agile...despite having no knee's . Edit: Added some information. " the Dunesfolk have led a traditionally nomadic life, and their eyes have adjusted to the glaring hot desert sun by growing a reflective surface that covers and protects the pupils of their eyes." "This small race is deceptively agile and able to traverse long distances on foot." And I just thought this part was funny. "Plainsfolk reside on flat islands with intricate underground passages while the Dunesfolk make their homes on the backs of large animals." Can play a Dunesfolk who loves to sleep on the backs of Roegadyns . -
Ummm...what? He said 230k was the limit. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/76132 Edit: I think I understand, you meant 5000 per world. Or at least I hope you did.

I'm getting the same thing Rahal. It won't even load up my characters so I can try to play on a different server as it is telling me that World is full..before I even pick a world. I wonder if that means all worlds are full lol. I really didn't think I would be able to log in today anyway. I tried at 10am pst (which is usually when I can log in with very little problems, most of the time not even seeing a queue), but it was already giving me troubles then. Luckily I designated today as do all your homework day so it doesn't bother me much. I honestly think that if you can get into a JP server and create a character, go for it. When they add new servers, I have a strong hunch that they will allow a temporary free character transfer route as to spread the community around to these newer servers and help alleviate the ones we currently have. So if you level up a bit on a JP server, you will likely get the chance in a few days to transfer that over to one of the RP servers ^^.

Where are all the men's in their outfits at?

Ah, a fellow puncher of things, welcome! I already called dibs of faces, you can have the knees or something.
-
Hahaha, I personally entertained the thought that maybe they were doing this so that NA and EU players would jump ship to JP servers and mesh there so that they wouldn't have to buy new servers. If that was a goal in mind, they apparently didn't succeed very well at it. I know my old LS and a few others were staying on the Masamune server even though that is a now a JP server. You can get around decently well with auto translate and the fact that the Japanese have to take an English class in school. Not to mention you had duty finder which can pair you up with English players as well. Personally this is a definitely a possible route to take. If this was a game that I was not interested in RPing in and just playing, I would have taken the JP route long ago.

Name: Dennthota Ahtahrmwyn World: Balmung Message: Suck it, Yoshi-P Hahaha, I kid. But I wonder how many people will send him stuff like that. The beta forums have always been hostile, and that has seemed to have spilled over onto the normal forums and has doubled because of the inaccessibility to the servers. I just keep pretending that the game isn't really out yet. It's the only way I can stay sane from my days of unable to log in as all my LS mates pull off ahead. The official forums and other community sites are raging on the internet, but despite all that, he did it. He turned a failure of a game into something amazing, so amazing in fact that he exceeded all expectations and broke it lol. No matter if players leave because of the bad launch or whatever. That at least deserves some recognition.

I would, but SE and their servers hate me ; ;

You are definitely going out on a limb lol. On the plus side, I was able to play for 2hours before school today and encountered no errors and didn't hear of anymore errors from my FC mates.

I made a dumb video during the maintenance. Here.

Hahahaha, I just saw you post this on reddit. Very nicely done. -
Haha, yeah. I checked 15mins before they were suppose to be up, found myself in a 8 person queue, but just got the 1017 code at the end. I feel like every time they perform a maintenance nothing changes or things just get worse. I think they are just testing our patience until we go to a JP server since they want us to "spread out". I honestly would just go this route if I was not here for the RP. I mean the Duty Finder would give you the option of playing with people who speak your language. There are bound to be some English speaking Japanese folks as well as other native English speakers on the server as well. It'll be just like FFXI, meshing all languages together

Let us stage a sit-in!

Yeah, but that doesn't count as Legacy...Legacy is the people who paid after they went from F2P back to P2P for the reduced price. That was after the first guy got fired and Yoshi-P took over. I don't think you are Legacy.... Edit: Ah, never mind. Someone already cleared this up with you.

I suggest everyone check out this thread. It is hilarious. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/67904-FUNNY-PICTURES-That-signify-our-displeasure-GO%21 On another note, boredom is actually good and healthy.. Qwd25JV-jnU

I would guess that their restrictions are to see how stable their fixes are before opening it up to the full brunt of things. After all, we seen a few quick emergency patches go into affect already, and they all eventually broke down again, so they are probably going a bit slower this time around (this is all conjecture on my part though). The crappy thing is that even with these server restrictions they are still having instancing issues and people getting kicked out of the game when they zone. They haven't fixed anything and seem to have only further upset the community. I am understanding, but a bit upset myself. I just think that with millions of dollars at your disposal that you'll be able to do something like upgrade servers. Arena Net had similar troubles when GW2 launched last year and they upgraded them extremely quickly and they are not a behemoth company like Square Enix is.

Animorphs . I was digging through my bookshelf the other day to add my new school books and I found my small collection. I have 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7. Tobias! Yessss! Love Tobias! Fluffer McKitty is the name of Melissa Chapman's cat in Animorphs #2. I had a character named Andalite Bandit in beta phase 3 too!!! Hahaha, you remember way more than I do. Maybe I will pick this back up since I probably wont be able to get in game for awhile. I was crazy about the books back in elementary and junior high. Animorphs and choose your own adventure books . Never really got into Goosebumps like the rest of the kids did. I just bought the Goosebumps books so that I could try to fit in, haha.

Enticing, but..... I'll pass. If I'm going to run around without armour, I don't even want the skivvies showing. Bare it all, honey!

Level MRD in your underwear. Something about an ax wielding person running around the wilds, screaming, and attacking things is a lot of fun.

Reddit is always a good place to go for laughs.

Lol! Nice post LeCard. Now kick them off so that someone who actually wants to play can log in :bomb:

You...you tricked me! Lol. Simcity

I am not saying not to play at all. I am just giving you a warning. I am not sure if you were around when the Gilgamesh server was choose, but it was a giant storm of hate and arguments and its best to keep another beast like that tamed. The RPC was originally designed to keep the RP community under one server and it broke its rule when openly supporting Gilgamesh because of people not wanting to play with 1.0 characters. I highly doubt that they would put themselves in that position again and I also don't think they should. Edit: Anyone and everyone is free to get the ball rolling about what server you want to start a third community on. No one is stopping you from doing that. I was just offering my advice, that is all. You'll be able to log in eventually. There are lots of people locked out on Balmung as well so you are not going through this alone.
