  1. Just a heads up that our new hours go into effect tonight! We'll be open from 7-9 pm EDT (was 6-9). Hope to see you there! ETA: Since it's been a thing a few times now, I thought it best to make a new policy. If you would like to place a large group order (more than 6 pizzas at once), please call in advance!
  2. Added in! Thanks for your patience! :moogle:
  3. I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet (but it is still early and I'm only on my first cup of coffee). I use the in game /random as a percentage system for performing certain feats like dodging that poison dart trap or noticing a hidden door. I'll scale the "difficulty" according to the character's general skill/abilities (nothing set in stone). So if the character is a skilled game hunter, I figure they'll probably be pretty good at noticing a shadow seems to be following them and will set the bar pretty low (/random 400 or higher, for example). If the character is the academic type, prone to long periods of focused study, I'd expect say, 700 or higher. For combat, I go with the higher/lower thing with the numbers used as a sort of modifier. So if the character randoms an 850 to the opponent's 130, whatever they do will probably send the opponent flying/to the ground. I want the fight to progress logically. Better /randoms combined with detailed emotes (what is targeted, for example) and the character will win. This system requires a lot of trust all around. The players trust me not to make things impossible for them and run things fairly and reasonably; I trust the players not to fudge their rolls or go into god mode (when running a scene, we may not all be in the same location.) I have successfully run dnd-style narrative scenes this way.
  4. Stellazzio Pizzeria has re-opened! Our hours will be adjusted to 7-9 pm EDT starting August 2nd. In FC news, we are still here and a welcoming atmosphere to park your alts! Please note that the FC is wee bitty (mostly alts lol) and quiet; if that's your sort of thing, you're welcome to check us out!
  5. You're added in! Thanks! (And apologies for the delay)
  6. Hey everyone! Had to take a bit of a break for RL reasons, but I'm back now and so is the Theme List! Woohoo! *throws confetti* Please feel free to send in your FC/LS info (yes, I need all the info requested in the OP. I can't add your group til I get all the basics.) either through pm or by leaving a comment. I encourage groups from other servers to add in their info! I've added in a new category for Non-Balmung Servers (if I get enough listings, I'll add categories for specific servers.) which you can find easily at the bottom of the list. (Please don't see this as a rating. lol. It's for ease of discovery. ^^(Yes, I work at a library; why do you ask? ) As always, if edits are needed, send those in as well! :moogle:
  7. Butting in when you have nothing to contribute? Sure, rude in game and out. But let's go with you, a cabinetmaker, overhearing a couple talking about how they wish they could find someone to help them make the cabinets of their dreams. Or even closer to possible... you sitting at a fast food joint and overhearing someone from the next table over saying they want to play ffxiv but don't know anyone in game. Unless you have severe social anxiety, would you really not lean over with an "Excuse me, did you say ffxiv?" (If the person says 'fuck off', then you know why they don't have anyone to play with and you move on.) It makes no sense for me to butt into someone's RP if it's not relevant to my interests, but if it IS and they are using public chat, you bet your ass I'm gonna infiltrate the convo. I mean... maybe I'm Southern? but this whole "everyone can RP out loud and none of us will dare actually interact with each other" makes zero sense to me.
  8. TBH, I would say you've got increasing amounts of RPers who have encountered players who have responded harshly to them or who have gone through drama and are now just afraid to reach out to others, no matter how much they may want to. This is why I try to send a follow up /tell of "I'm sorry my character is being horrible to you right now!" just to keep it clear that the blow-off is IC only and /not/ OOC. Too many people blur the two. >.>;
  9. I would say it's actually widespread low self esteem that makes people terrified of other people. An attempt to buffer against anticipated rejection and all that. :<
  10. I try to be ridiculously polite, but I actually agree with this. It's WAY more immersion breaking to send a tell asking if I can talk to these people who are talking in public. IRL if people are discussing something relevant to my interests, I'll just go "Excuse me, but did you say X?" I get the feeling that a lot of y'all start off assuming that Ser Random Walkup will wreck your scene, and that's just really sad. ETA: I /also/ don't take it personal if Ser Public RPer blows me off. It's IN CHARACTER, not OOC.
  11. I do wish we had some sort of smaller range /say that could be used to show that I'm speaking quietly to someone, but that the RP is still open to others to join in. It would help with chat spam at large events as well, I'm sure.
  12. Way I see it... if you are using /s, your RP is fair game for anyone within earshot. If you don't want your RP interfered with, that's what /p is for. (I follow this rule myself.) If someone is blatantly (and egregiously) breaking lore in public chat, I'll just quietly put them on blacklist.
  13. WE ARE BACK! Re-opening tonight, July 19th, from 6-9 pm EDT. NOW WITH A MENU!! WOOHOO! Hope to see you there! Mod edit: Topic moved back to active events segment. In the future send a pm or report the thread for a faster response!
  14. Hmm, I'm surprised since I'm online nearly the entire day, eastern time. I'm usually on either Valia Rosa or Brinn Rosa. Check back when you're in game again. ^^ Late nights, especially PDT, is when we have gaps.
  15. Hey Everyone! The staff of Stellazzio is taking a much needed vacation for a month so the players can enjoy Stormblood without feeling rushed. Thank you SO much for your patronage thus far and we look forward to seeing you again in July! Much love to you all and have fun!
  16. Yeah, I'll readily agree that it's the vocal minority and, as others have mentioned in other threads on the topic, I hope that those who are more level-headed will step in to be the even-louder majority. I'm not in the "Balmung onry" crowd myself; I'm in the "I want SE to slap a label on a (preferably new) server and offer free transfers to (or from, depending) said server". This is my ideal resolution to the current problem we have.
  17. lol All these posts of "my friends are on balmung". I'm seeing just how many instigators there are compared to followers. ^^; I mean, I get you... I just see it differently. I'd go and I'd hope my friends would too (aka I'd be promoting the heck outta it in an effort to get people to move.) What is making me a bit uncomfortable is how it appears that the disgruntled are the ones going ahead and moving to X server currently. The feeds negativity into the other server, promoting the whole "us vs. them" problem. I guess in a perfect world we'd have people saying "I was happy there. I am also happy here."? I still hold out hope that most RPers can be in one place rather than thinned out via a massive diaspora. And personally, I like the idea of being on a server that's hard to get into; to me it means that anyone coming in really wants to be there. (This is similar in concept to the difference in atmosphere/culture between FCs that have out of game applications and/or interviews for potential members and those that take anyone and everyone.)
  18. Just a head's up that tonight (June 7) will be the last day Stellazzio Pizzeria is open until mid July!! While the players are busy with Stormblood, the staff of Stellazzio will be enjoying a well-earned vacation in Costa. Stop on by tonight and get your pizza fix!
  19. Alright, got you guys added in! General note - There is now a Pirates / Mariners category. Please send in any updates if you wish to be listed under this category!
  20. I've added you in. At least make a thread for your FC on the RPC and I'll link that.
  21. You, and anyone who wants to help with this, would need to commit to being there every evening during prime time hours for quite some time. I think this is the thing that most people don't realize going in. You must contribute a goodly portion of your play time and stick with it for months to maybe get things to change. This is definitely not a "don't do it" post; it's a "just be aware" post. I have to do this with both Pop up RP and the Pizzeria. (and you are welcome to help at Pop up RP. xDDD )
  22. Someone has posted /why/ the QS is the hub a few times before. I'll see if I can dig it up after coffee. On a side note, I run a portable hub every month. In the other thread, I mentioned rping in Ul'dah, but you felt it wasn't specific enough. When I rp outside of the Goblet, I /do/ rp anywhere but at the QS unless I'm just looking to meet random people. I use the THM library, airship dock, and back alleys frequently (as well as Central and West Thanalan for that matter). Few rpers like staying in one spot. I'll also see people at the Coffer & Coffin, Baderon's bar in South Shroud, Costa (I prefer Wineport for date nights myself ), and the Bismark and Aftcastle fairly often.
  23. Last chance for updates before these groups are removed!
  24. Pretty much <3 more specifics are nice too though as I can figure there's a lot of roleplayers in ul'dah being Balmung's current main hub for it lol. Well, there's two different questions... Where does your character hang out? Where do /you/ tend to hang out? My characters can be found anywhere in Ul'dah. I do most of my RP in the Goblet.
