  1. Another thing is to change where you prefer to hang out. I can say that there are many well-known RPers that I've never encountered in game personally because I just don't hang out in locations they do. Try checking out different events or go to hang out spots you usually don't. The suggestions of finding a good FC are what I'd encourage you to do the most; with a good and active one, you have all you need in house.
  2. I am sincerely hoping some good Mateus folks will swoop in and help you out. It sounds like you encountered people who just want to grief others instead of actually rping. Find a good FC and LS, they will help a lot. eta: I play a Hellsguard and a Plainsfolk Lalafell with few issues. While my Lala has struggled here and there with the wrong people trying to make him the butt of their jokes, I moved on to better crowds and no longer worry about that sort of thing. My Hellsguard has never had any issues (besides being hit on lol). It may help too to make a character that you love and stick with it. Good rp will come your way. ^^
  3. As an aside, as long as you have CT unlocked, the Alliance Raid roulette means fast access to the old 23 mans. DPS are often the class in need and it's a shit ton of exp handed out. Definitely look into that! Look forward to hearing from you in game!
  4. Many apologies for the delay! I've updated your info. Thanks! :moogle:
  5. I'm resurrecting this thread to find folks who may be interested in a wrestling event in game! Plans are in the works and we could use some participants (wrestlers, promoters, sponsors, security, healers, audience plants, etc.) Please message me if you're interested! You can also contact me via discord exatomos#4455 and I'll add you to our chat group.
  6. Made some minor updates to our About Us! We still have a handful of spots, so if you're thinking about joining us, reach out! :moogle:
  7. I added them because there's a Keeper clan in the heart of the FC and as part of the storyline, as well as a tribal community segment slowly starting up called Keepers of the Dusk that are for tribal denizens just as Keepers, Seekers, Xaela, and others who come from a tribal background to come together. But if it's racial exclusive categories, then no need to add the Sylph to that! As for the link, I fixed it here to where no one is able to edit. Hmm, that technically falls under the Plot Driven category (which you're in), but I'll need to think over whether something like this need a new category. If you want to pm me any details that may help, feel free! The link still technically goes to the 'edit' version due to it being in the url, but since editing is locked you should be okay. Thanks! :moogle:
  8. I am going to try. I won the log-on lottery last time and bought a small for my new FC. That day was... ugly. People who did not get a house were saying horrible things to or about those that did (I hid the fact that I managed to get one) and those that got a house were gloating over those that didn't. I understand folks' bitterness at the time, but lashing out at others was not the way to go.
  9. You've been added in! Added! You're added in! I do want to point out a couple things... The url you sent is set to edit mode, is this what you want visitors to have access to? Also, I had to exclude Keeper Clan since this is only included in the Race Specific category which means to the exclusion of other races (except for RP reasons). Let me know if you meant that and I'll add you in. Thanks everyone! :moogle:
  10. From this thread. I have personally had one of the few RPers on Atomos spam /disgust at me every time we encountered each other for changing into a Lalafell. I've been straight up told that my Lalafell can't be taken seriously in RP just due to being a Lalafell and while I guess this doesn't count as "hate"? the end result is the same. ETA: I want to clarify that it's a noisy minority who acts like this! But to say it doesn't exist is disingenuous.
  11. Alright... while I fully agree on the "play what you want, good folks will RP with you", OP's concern about certain races and encountering problems with RP is not unfounded and has been discussed at length here on the RPC. Is it considered "weird: to play a Miqo'te Cat Boiz.. Why.. (this is a void thread. meant to be taken with a grain of salt.) Going Lalafell, distinct decline in RP? Lalafell RP Lalafell not taken seriously in RP. So. We have plenty of examples that are easy to find right here on this forum. (I'm not even going to bother with the OF or Reddit. But then, they hate on RPers in general.) I have had issues being taken seriously as my Lalafell on multiple occasions. Sadly, most of this was with people who were in my FC and thought it was funny to abuse Lalafell. While they did come around a little so that my RP improved, I have since left and have heard that they are back to their old ways with new targets. I also play a Seeker Nunh. Yes, there is some reflexive stereotyping that goes on with some people regarding Miqo'te of any gender. In truth, people who tend to give others shit about what race they are playing are not folks you want to roleplay with anyways. So, yes, play what you want! If you create a character with a "Well I wanted to play this, but was too scared to", that can keep you from really connecting with them and can cause more problems with your enjoyment of the character. Loving your own character idea goes a long way in developing good RP and enjoying the game.
  12. I'm really curious about this one. Are you saying that people who have RP info in their search info tend to be flaky? O_o
  13. That's what chat filters and tabs are for, and why it's best to rp out in the world, away from bars Can't separate say chat from say chat though . I agree however, that world RP is more fun imo anyways, but when I do happen to RP at bars.... it occasionally can get overwhelming depending on how active/busy it is. Not really anyone's fault, just one of those things some people and myself may be unable to adapt to well enough at times. No, but you can move your group into party chat instead. It helps lots.
  14. As she mentioned, the purpose is to give the player something to read rather than something to react to in an IC fashion. If you are of the opinion that if it can't be acted upon by a character in response, it shouldn't be there, then it will be inappropriate regardless of how directly or obliquely it's described. Your own alternative would lead to objections on the grounds that it assumes an interpretation on the other player's behalf. I've seen that argued as inappropriate on these forums in the past, to the extent that even vague descriptors like "beautiful" shouldn't be used because every character will have a slightly different conception of beauty. This has the unfortunate side-effect of annihilating most potential uses of dramatic irony in posts, but that's apparently a small price to pay for ensuring total player agency. Aha, so at this point it's just differing RP styles regarding the use of description in emotes. I'll still hold that insulting someone via internal monologue is a bad thing.
  15. That's the thing, right there - if someone's meant to be able to reply to it, then yeah, they definitely need to be given something to reply to. That said, emoting thoughts alongside actions can sometimes lend a tone to the action. Consider: Franco gasped in surprise and ducked behind a pillar as he saw a contingent of Garleans come around the corner of the ruins. ...differs in tone from... Franco gasped in surprise and ducked behind a pillar as he saw a contingent of Garleans come around the corner of the ruins. It was his youth in occupied Ala Mhigo all over again, and his mind raced in a battle of will to resist fleeing for his life as he'd done when a boy. And of course, there's also internal posts which aren't actually meant for anyone to respond to at all, which could be said to be wholly unnecessary if that's the case, but in most novels you'll also find a lot of functionally-unnecessary inner monologue stuff which serves only to give the readers insight into the character. Franco drew a swig from his mug of mead as he idly contemplated the old man at the bar who was flirting with his mom. Had he truly just said his name is Dick? Old though he may be, surely he wasn't unaware that he might be better off going by Rick or Richard, all things considered. A post like that does nothing for anyone's RP - but nor is it meant to. Neither Dick nor Franco's mom were interacting with Franco, so he's done them no RP disservice by giving them a response to something which hasn't substance for them to react to. However, Franco's player did just give Dick and Franco's Mom's players some insight into his character, which isn't inherently bad. True. But while it does give your RP partners more details, it is not something they would actually see icly. If your dude is hiding due to trauma, rather than from wrongdoing, how am I at that time able to tell the difference? If, however, you were to type something along the lines of: "Franco dashed behind the pillar at the sight of the oncoming Imperials. Sweat popped out on his forehead and he shook with fear. His eyes seemed to be unfocused, as though reliving nightmares of his past." All of this is stuff your RP partner can actually see ICly. But, back to the internal monologue being a problem thing... it would be more like "Franco took a drink of his ale. 'Dick? Really? Only someone as ugly as this guy could be given a name that would make him the butt of jokes at every bar. And he seems nervous... what a useless coward.'" There is nothing for their RP partner to respond to and they just got insulted without being able to say anything about it.
  16. Hi... I can't see your post to read it. ; ; Font is too small and there is little contrast of the rose against the grey of the background.
  17. Emoting one's thoughts that are hyper-critical/rude of their RP partner. Has this been mentioned? (I'm not keen on RPing with folks who do the emoted thoughts thing, but that's just a writing style difference.) I've seen this in action and it was really horrible for all of us present since we just had to watch this person write this shit and no one was able to respond ICly.
  18. I don't have any such expectations of my own RP partners, but I figure that it's one part personal preference, and one part fear of receiving a reply post like "D'ranmaia Shenn smiles." I think that when a response doesn't give your RP partner anything to interact with, it can create a frustrating situation. I know this can happen whether a post is long or short, but it might be a more common occurrence with short posters? Maybe those people have had too many bad experiences with people who give them nothing to play off of, which makes the RP feel burdensome and one-sided? Aha, that could be. And I think someone mentioned upstream how awful it is to be the only one carrying the RP. I've been there and it was so bad I had to basically take my character OOC just to keep the convo moving (At the time, the folks I was trying to RP with also just stood there and insulted my character the whole time [even though lore-wise I was in the right] and claimed it as an IC personality thing)(). ; ; I've used a few sentences to fill in the little motions/body language that is half of how we communicate irl since our character models don't move besides breathing, but I don't consider myself a paraRPers since I try to keep things simple and conversational otherwise.
  19. This one is a huge point, in my opinion. While it's good to flex vocabulary a little, there's not a lot to be gained by "evasive language". My experience with players who go especially purple with their prose is that they're not as interested in storytelling (or story-participating) as they are in trying to feel superior to others (or inversely, cause others to feel inferior) as a power complex by way of attempting to demonstrate how superior they are at writing. Might not be true of everyone, I just speak from my own experience with people like that. Sometimes I wonder if it's cause folks are deathly afraid of repeating words, sounding too basic/illiterate, or struggle conveying what their character looks/moves like if it something that isn't obvious with the limited character designer. I think it's more a sign of being a poor writer than just going with simplicity. (lol! why'd i get the angry face smiley? xDDD ) But I do wonder why folks who paraRP often have a strict requirement that their rp partner also does it... Anyone can enlighten me?
  20. Stellazzio Pizzeria also caters and does deliveries. :moogle:
  21. A lot of these are just bad RP. One I'll add is including what your character feels/does/says in their emotes. This is closely related to not giving you a choice on what you do/say or how you can react, which I think someone already mentioned. A straight up red flag (one I've had to deal with myself) is someone telling you you look good only when it suits their preferences and giving you shit until you change back if you change to something they don't like. Another is being rude, critical, or abusive in RP and trying to cover it with "Oh, it's just my character's personality".
  22. :!: I've begun quietly removing groups who have a dead website or contacts listed that are no longer with this group. Now is the time to get in your updates! :cactuar:
  23. I've made the requested updates. I do however only include one url in the listing. I've gone with your Enjin site, but if you wish for me to use another link instead, let me know. Thanks! :moogle:
  24. You've been added in! Thanks! :moogle:
