This is a bit of a red flag to me. Why is your FC going through so many people? In my experience, you'll get the odd temperamental sort or someone that never fits in, but never a bunch. You may want to take a good look at your recruitment policies to see what kind of people you are pulling in. There may be a mismatch between how y'all seem on paper vs. how you are day to day. Also, if you recruit everything, you're gonna get everything... good and bad. As for the attack on your tavern, yeah it sounds like basic immature revenge.

Look for any AUS/NZ/(that side of the world) players since you're playing during their prime time. I know they're around on Balmung.

War is a prevalent theme in the game. Violence abounds and is either shown outright or hinted at continuously. Rape is a weapon used in war. Is all of it shocking? Yeah, and it better be. A quote I'm sure you've seen before is "rape is not about sex, it is about violence."

Look at the race specific wikis and do a search for 'xaela' on tumblr as well. There's tons.

I'm gonna jump in the pool. Continuity and logic (mostly logic) are soooooo important to me; without them, I don't have as much fun when I rp. Every day I brainstorm why X character would be in Y place doing Z thing. Not like I schedule this shit, more like I just peek into their world to see what they're up to. I am always considering "why would my character speak to this person?" (Sometimes I just have to kind of ooc it when it comes to events. I'll rp as the character at the event, but their story arc may not actually make it probable that they'd be there. That's okay though.) I strongly encourage you to really brainstorm up some different ideas that would be plausible as to why you'd reach out to someone. Where I'd ask that you perhaps rethink your character concept is if they are so insular and anti-social that you just can't think of ANY reason they would socialize or even speak to others. While people like this do exist irl, it's pretty much impossible to rp as them in game. As for 'walk up' RP, there is also the option to just emote something instead of striking up a direct conversation with someone nearby. For example, you can emote that you open a book and start reading it while at a busy bar. Maybe the person next to you asks what you're reading. It's something to start with.

I'm having a "huh, how 'bout that" moment. One of my FC's house npc's is actually /also/ an "ex-Dotharl" (well, he says 'retired'), having tired of the violence himself. But one can't really 'retire' from the past, can you. :3 I know an npc isn't what you're looking for, but I was struck by the similarity. ^^/ Good luck to you! I'll add on to this too... perhaps reach out to a friend ooc and see if you can set up some sort of "known each other (off camera) for a while already". Lots of RPers are open to setting up existing relationships. That way you don't have to play two characters just to have a foil for your quiet dude.

Yeah, I'm also at the 20+ mark for rp & gaming experience myself. I run a list of FC themes you guys may want to check out and see if any catch your eye. Definitely go to a variety of events! To add, while Gilg was the "back up" unofficial rp server way back when we had distinctions between Legacy and non Legacy servers, it has become the unofficial raiding server and Balmung reigns supreme when it comes to rp focus. As the others have mentioned, yes, you'll probably have to pay to get into Balmung. There are some other servers, such as Jenova I believe, that are trying to build up a stronger rp presence if you want to give them a shot. These servers are open to new characters.

We will be starting the jousting at 8 pm EST! Here’s how it’ll work: “A match is three lances. One point is awarded for breaking a lance on a man between waist and neck; two points for breaking on the helmet. It’s difficult. The helmet sweeps back, most blows glance off leaving the lance unbroken. Three points for bearing a rider to the ground.” We will use /random ranges for points: 0-100 is a miss, 101-500 is a point, 501-900 is a headshot (2 pts), 901+ unhorses (3 pts). We’ll tally up the points after 3 passes, highest wins. We’ll be using a basic bracket system. If you wish to joust against someone in particular, let us know at the start.

Damn, but I wish any voidsent character of mine would live in utter fear of entering cities (or be threatened and have to flee in case they were discovered.) That would be cool. I would totally roll one up if I got more rp threats than just blatant ooc eye rolls. Back on topic... Roleplaying as a major NPC really trips up when it comes to interacting with others due to people being at all points in the msq. Said NPC might be around, might be [spoilers], or may have [other spoilers]. You can't account for all of these, it's impossible. If someone further in the story line shouts out that said NPC can't possibly be there due to [spoileroo], they just ruined things for new players. Now minor NPCs such as Yellow Moon, Fufulupa, or some other background character could be fun. Nothing major happens to them that could be considered a problem when it comes to interacting with others. (I know many of these exist on Balmung.)

In addition to the Pizzeria in the basement, our first floor and many rooms are also open for RP! Our FC basically IS the building itself rather than a true "Company". The first floor is 'rented out' by a branch office of Clan Centurio (and like many modern office buildings, the building itself takes the name of the primary renter). Hunt marks and other employment, such as guard work, are available here. Feel free to interact with the npcs in the office or tap one of the members for RP! The FC itself is not actively recruiting at this time (unless you REALLY like the concept and don't mind a wee bitty FC. ), but we are always looking for more cross-FC RP in the building or out! :thumbsup:
