They are definitely on Balmung. Nanamo was in my FC until recently and is one of the sweetest people I've met in game. I've seen every one of the Hildibrand npcs on this server as well as Yellow Moon, The Aesthetician, some of the Scions, and the lalafell WHM from the WoD whose name I've forgotten. Some FCs specifically welcome those who play as npcs. It's not my cup of tea personally but, if they have fun and don't troll, it doesn't bother me. (I think I said as much on the other thread too.) eta: For the most part, folks aren't keen to see NPCs being played in this game.

In general, I would say you don't really have an idea fully about each class til 50, but some, like WAR especially, BRD, and BLM, REALLY change in the 50-60 levels. I'm a big altoholic not just in number of classes on each character but in number of characters. I am a strong proponent of at least leveling one class of each role (tank, heals, dps) so that you know how each work and work together in dungeons. tl;dr: level all teh things! :moogle: IC, of course, my characters can't do everything that is listed on their search info. That's OOC knowledge. (For example, Valia has all crafts and gathering classes and most battle classes at 60, but IC she's just a mage and alchemist.) I just do it cause it's fun to level everything.

Not sure if this would be something that interests you, but I figured I'd toss it out there. The RP Levelers LS is an ooc group that is real chill and focuses on leveling alts & alt classes, specifically for those who are nervous taking certain classes into the DF. We're also just getting our revamped RP event underway; it's a monthly, drop-in RP thing that will travel to different open-world locations. I'm pretty much 'all Ul'dah, all the time' on all of my characters, but you are welcome to hang out with me at events and stuff if you'd like.

It's just a matter of emoting the descriptors of what the other person would see and probably pick up on naturally. At least, this is how I get the non-verbal communication across. ^^ Oh yeah, I sometimes use that but most of the time, it's nice to like, be mysterious, ya know? Cos people tend to use the conveyed thoughts against your character just cos you typed it in the /em and that's--That's mostly yer fault haha (Though I usually do the whole, convey the thoughts when enough relationship has developed/progressed between the characters) Oh, I think I see what you're saying. Yeah, if it's something I don't want the other one to know, I don't convey it in any way. lol. I just mean I like adding more descriptors to a simple /frown since by itself it doesn't say much. ^^;

Thou shalt not begin every emote with "would". Thou shalt not convey thine thoughts via emotes. Thou shalt put forth thine best effort towards grammar and punctuation. Thine character is not undefeatable, neither is thine character always a loser. Thou shalt remember that your fellow RPers are not NPCs in your story. Thou shalt not partake of a fantasia and name change whilst in the middle of an RP plot. Thou shalt grow and develop your character(s) and not leave them to languish in the hell that is two-dimensional. Thou shalt remember that even the worst of characters has good points and that good characters have weaknesses. Thou shalt not be from another world and your plots should be plausible within lore. Thou shalt realize that not everyone wants to ERP all the time, if at all. Thou shalt not sexualize every character you encounter. Thou shalt not assume another's sexuality or gender based on the character they play. Thou shalt not demean others based on your personal preferences and shall move on if you see something you do not like. Thou shalt not forget that roleplaying is a two-way conversation and that thine partner was not put on this planet just to entertain your ass.

If they're giving all of their excess to the forest, how are they going to amass wealth was more my point? Wasn't there a plot line about Maisenta, the merchant around the corner from the crystal, financing a boy band out of her own pocket? She's pretty much rolling in gil. And irl, historically, you could very much buy your way into the nobility. But I believe "upper class" is the general term Karim is going for here. Too bad thread titles can't be adjusted.

We're at an all-you-can-eat RP buffet and can pick and choose who we want to rp with, when, and about what. This can have the apparent effect of shutting many others out. In my experience, I've found that it's always feast or famine. I'm either over-booked or it feels like an rp desert. T_T lol. And of course, when I am free and want to rp with people, they are offline or busy or wanting to just grind content instead. I like rp events cause I can have a casual (or less than casual) conversation with someone while having something to interact with (wait staff, menu, drinking, etc). For me at least, this relieves a lot of the stress that just one on one rp can bring. Similar to Kilieit, I have a chronic illness. In my case, I actually can't plan rp as well cause I never know if I'll be well enough to run a scene with people. Events, like I mentioned, help ease some of the work load, so I can talk as much or as little as I'm able to. I am also not keen on the vague question of "Anyone wanna RP?" For all I know, you're an amal'jaa airship pirate and I may not need amal'jaa, airships, or piracy in my characters' lives right then. Or more to the point, I don't want to sit with a person who asks this and then expects me to entertain them for a couple hours without any commonality I can use.

If I'm reading this correctly and you've only been on Balmung a few months, this is definitely not long enough to give it an actual effort. Like the others have said, find out why things aren't working out and try to see if you can fix it so that it's better for everyone. This stuff takes a lot of patience; running an FC takes even more.

I've had friends say the same, but to my amusement (read: frustration), I'm aswim in Limsans and Gridanians (some friends of mine even run a Gridania-centric FC), but can't find anyone whose character focused on Ul'dah/IF/Thanalan. They may have a house in the Goblet, but that seems to be the extent of it. PLEASE tell me where I can find these folks hiding!

I had a weird run of the event dungeon last night. It was literally my last run of the place as I'd spent the day getting 6 alts their music and minion. I took my WAR alt Tin into the instance with a friend and we got 2 pugs. Maybe they knew each other, maybe not. I'll admit I was a bit brain-burnt at this point. Pug1: something something traing comms something. (spelling as is) I got Tin Man. Pug2: Okay My brain didn't translate this at the time. We get through the place in okay time, not the best, not the worst. The pugs are rather enthusiastic and seemed friendly enough. At the end, I picked one of the two I was going to comm, when... Pug1: I commed you Tin Man. (Me thinking: Well, uh that's nice of you. Why announce it...) Pug2: I got you Me: Uh okay, I was going to comm Pug1. (Me thinking: They did have to run around looking for that one last sigil to stand on.) Friend: I was going to comm Pug1, uh let's see.... Pug1: No, you doofuses. You comm the one who commed you. (Me thinking: "HOLD UP... are they comm farming ala 2014??") Me: "Wait now... you earn comms, you don't beg for them." : | Pug1: mouths off about how shitty I am and finishes with, "Typical tank!" So uh... I guess there's some major tank conspiracy to withhold comms from the less-deserving classes? Did I miss a memo?

No tells. Period. >: | If folks are mid rp scene and you just blasted em with a commercial, you may find yourself on their blacklist faster than you can say 'oops'. PF, a few carefully written non-spammy shouts, put up your FC info here and the OF if you aren't banned yet, make flyers on tumblr/instagram/fb/other social media. All good suggestions. What's your theme? Why is your group different from others (especially if you have a common theme)? Think of who you want to join and go to where they are likely to be (for example, dropping a shout in a real lowbie area will be great for pulling in folks who are brand new to game, but probably won't snag veteran players. And you'd advertise for these groups differently anyways.) Put yourself out there. Go to events and interact with people. Trust me, most everyone is checking out everyone else's search info and FC info. (Do not put up a PF while at events though, that's considered rude to the hosts.) If you can go with your FC as a group, all the better. Be patient, but keep your forward momentum going and spirits up. Also, no tells.

While thay would be a plus, I wouldn't call it a requirement. There's always LS, PF and duty finder for that stuff lol. Quick question, I had plans on renting ICly. So, would the rent be paid ICLY or OOCLY as well. I only say this because I don't currently have a consent flow of gil coming in oocly. The whole renting space would just be an ic reason as to why he would be apart of the free company. I'll never charge actual gil oocly. It's purely IC. The office manager is Ralin Thalin; the building owner is Brinn Rosa (wikis linked below), but he prefers to pretend someone else actually owns it. I don't have an LS for the FC itself ofc (too small), but have been tossing around the idea of creating one for the region. I do run the RP Levelers LS and it does for all my social and DF needs.

Ironically, my FC is set up specifically to rent space in a building in the Goblet; FC members are considered 'keyholders' and have access rights and privileges that guests don't. But my FC is only one step removed from being a solo FC (some folks' alts are members) so, while I probably should get around to advertising and growing membership, I can't say we'd be able to offer you what you're looking for ooc. ><;
