  1. I could use an invite to pass on event info to my LS/FCs! You can find me in game as any of the following: Valia Rosa / Brinn Rosa / Tin Man / Alberic Grimmeau / Ralin Thalin. (To make life easier, I'll look for you guys... >.>; )
  2. Any time more Hellsguard lore is added, I'm in for a bumpy ride. lol. Hell, I've already had some "well shit" moments when I find a new-to-me tidbit of lore hiding in game. Otherwise, I think I'm okay since I keep things pretty low-key. Some things that may mess me up: the slave trade does not exist at all, all black mages are inherently good guys, no one can befriend Ala Mhigan refugees, voidsent don't exist any more, trade caravans aren't a thing since all merchants can teleport their goods at will...
  3. I'm going to need a notebook to keep track of all these plots... >.>; #toomanyaltsproblems I had lots of fun! I'll try to keep a plot point or three on hand to give folks something to talk about. And I will kidnap people to talk to!! >: D (Mostly cause I too am nervous and need someone to interact with to get past that point. ) (Thanks Medic for being that person this time! ) Was great to meet some new people too! :moogle:
  4. 1. Sort of. Ralin had to fake his own death to escape a very real chance of death. Throughout the RP lead up and event itself, the chance of his IC actual death was really really high. It was hella fun tbh; my mind was continuously racing, thinking "omg will this be the end? Can he get out of it this time?" 2. I have a few answers for this one. "Don't do something you'll regret later." <--- Best piece of advice right there. A RP buddy of mine told me that recently when I mentioned a big change was coming up for one of my characters (and I'm rather partial to horror/suspense/doom/death/destruction themes). It was awkward and embarrassing to deal with the "fantasia incoming" responses from folks in my FC. I didn't want to be blatantly obvious with the "faked death" thing since I was hoping people would have the more realistic IC responses than OOC "lol I see dead people" and even some measure of disappointment that I wasn't killing him off that I got. Those who actually RPed with me were really good about responding as their character would and I hope the scenarios were fun for everyone. 3. If I'm wrapped up in some seriously heavy RP story arc and someone just randomly kills off their character for no reason other than boredom... yeah, I'll look elsewhere. They've just messed up MY story arc as well. (Mind you, this also goes for anyone who decides to ditch game for weeks/months at a time without warning.) If there is a plot point where a friend's character death may/will happen, then fck yeah death incoming. Love that tension!
  5. Tonight, tonight! It will be a casual drop in thing, especially considering how long it's running. I'll probably bring a few of my alts out to chill with everyone.
  6. I'm looking forward to this! Depending on who I bring, I can help cover staff needs. (Bartender, hunter, guide... I'll probably come up with a few more ideas beforehand. ) Also, the MQ house is really nice! Everyone should check it out sometime. :moogle:
  7. You will find pockets of RP on every server (from a few people to FC or LS). I think the point people here are trying to make is that you will not find large amounts of RP outside of Balmung if that is what you are looking for. You may want to ask over on the SE Official Forums to reach a broader audience than just the RPC. World subforums Companies subforum Good luck!
  8. I made a Val-clone on Hyperion some years back to hang out with Lodestone friends. Got to 50 and through 2.0 (aka endgame at the time). I wasn't keen on the culture of the server at 50 (as a newbie though, I've not met a nicer bunch of people. Of course, this may have changed in the past 2 years.) At the time, I did super-casual RP with friends with both versions of the character. Personally, I would never separate gameplay from RP as I'd want all content/places available whenever I need it in my story arcs (don't want unnecessary restrictions). I tote all my alts through all msq. eta: Not sure it matters, but I don't include the msq in my rp. Closest I'll get is "Oh really? Thus and such happened? Wow."
  9. Hey Aghur! /wave Here are my thoughts... 1. Plot: It needs to be something that can't be done by just one person; the 'problem' is big enough to warrant putting out a call to the guild at large. Rogues are there to filch from the filchers, right? Keep folks following the code, etc. So it could be some adversarial group (of pirates or whomever is doing wrong) that you need to call for backup. 2. A LS for Rogues does kind of make sense; if stuff comes up, you'd need a way to spread the word. 3. Combat: I use /random myself and either set a number of successful hits or keep rolling until someone gives in (this can take a damn long time). If you expect to do some big melee scene, having a back up DM wouldn't hurt. Thing is with /random, you are ignoring the notion of X Character is better trained than Y Character and going with the idea of 'anything can happen'. I feel it's more fair however and will roll with the results afterwards, whatever they are. 4. Advertising: Advertise in advance and often. Here, Tumblr, Lodestone, whatever you can think of. Tell your friends. Tell your friends to tell their LS/FC/and THEIR friends. Post a PF ad for the new LS and for the event itself. Try to not get discouraged if things start slow. If I can help you in anyway, just message me here or in game. I love helping. :moogle:
  10. I just use the Lodestone for my posts. (got coffee) I like em, but my eyes tend to glaze over if they're too long (that's just a me thing) or refer to people I don't know (happens a lot on lodestone cause it seems to be mostly non-Balmung people who post RP blogs there, go figure.) I only ever used Tumblr for non-text posts in the past, so it never even occurred to me to check it for FFXIV related stuff until I saw others mention it being used a lot. Whatever you do, don't post to Reddit. Gawd. >< Some poor soul decided to post an RP story over there and I'm sure you can imagine how that went. >.>; Unless there's some off-the-main-forum area I've not found yet in my short time posting to the RPC, I don't think I'd personally feel comfortable posting my RP here. I'd feel more like I was debuting on the main stage at the Met. lol. I think the Lodestone is a good go-between. It's not over saturated like Tumblr and not in-the-spotlight like the RPC and it is offered free by SE along with the sub. May as well use it. (The comment above is COMPLETELY my opinion only. YMMV here. And other caveats. >.> )
  11. Mebbe it's a bit over-simplistic and stereotyping, but I also go with the yen mindset cause the game is made in JP. So, 100 gil = 100 yen = about $1. IC it's more a vague "you have the money or you don't" when it comes to pricey things like that 13k food item. >< But the REALLY exorbitant prices are contained to the player run mb, which is kinda ooc in my book. NPC rates are reasonable. Armor costing thousands? Sure. If I go to the market IC, I'm browsing some stalls somewhere.
  12. There’s been some requests for IC dungeon runs and I’d like to supply! To start, I’m thinking treasure hunts! Here are a few scenarios I’ve come up with: Ye Olde Cursed Item - aka Why is this Item Following Me? The Hunters Become the Hunted - Someone else wants that item more, and they’ll kill to get it. That’s… Not Yours - Ooh, you found a long lost treasure of the Sultanate. Do you give it back or try to find a fence? Technological Marvel? - You found a piece of mysterious, ancient technology! Is it a bomb, a flowerpot, or the key to vast riches (or certain doom)? I’m thinking of these dungeons as possibilities: Great Gubal Library (59), Halatali HM (50), and Qarn (35) Info I need: Character you want to take, Class(es), and which plot you would like to try (first). Info I’d like to have: Brief character synopsis, If your character is good/evil/meh, or any other tidbits about your character that could potentially come into play here. (Any and all ooc knowledge would be used by me as DM only for this event and will not be mentioned or used IC.) Once I get a set of 4, we'll work on setting a date. Message me here or in game if you're interested! :tonberry:
  13. Hey Guys! We're doing really well and have a great bunch of easy going people! If you are interested in hanging out with us (leveling to endgame dungeon runs, attend events together, hoping to set up some IC dungeons soon), feel free to message me here or (better) in game. The list of contact people is at the top of this thread, but check for these alts as well: Brinn Rosa Alberic Grimmeau Copper Willow Sadana Kiri :moogle:
  14. Funerary Rites for the Virtuous Fallen (in game) Type: Book? Cocobezi: "Oh, Prelate Yayake... She can recite the three hundred and seven verses of the Funerary Rites for the Virtuous Fallen, but the simple task of keeping our names straight seems ever beyond her grasp." Public Knowledge: Thaumaturges, probably any priest or officer over funerals Description: Unknown if this is a book or some sort of memorized poem. Since the THM guild has an extensive library, I feel it's safe to assume it's been written down. Where to find it: Mentioned in THM guild intro.
  15. Oh hey, I was just coming to post about how being chronically ill really affects my availability (or whether I can function much while in game). While I've not had RP partners bitch at me, irl "friends" have indeed ditched over me being sick so much. I got the game to help pass the time and sometimes I'm just not up for much more than staring blankly at the screen (other times, I'm okay for RP but not much else and everyone else is busy ; u ; ). If you tell your RP partner that you have to go right then due to health reasons, I would hope (and expect) they'd understand. If you just go afk for a long time without saying anything, then they do have a good reason for being annoyed. Even a quick "afk, sick" will do. Make a macro if you have to.
  16. I loled. Recently, I came up with a treasure hunt RP plot line that includes digging up an artifact that folks really shouldn't have dug up. Was hoping to continue it as a series. I'd like to see how others run such story arcs. I may reach out to you guys for an LS invite.
  17. (How about businesses?) Titirenu Beberenu, Fine cloth goods and bespoke tailoring. Type: Merchant "My dear, are you even listening? The client wants only the best vanya silk used for her dress... decorated with pearls and crystals. You are able to craft this in time, yes? If not, I'm sure there are other dressmakers who are looking for work..." Public Knowledge: If you are wealthy or in the garment making industry, you may have heard of this prick guy. Description: Tanned with dark hair, this Dunesfolk is accustomed to dealing only with the richest clientele. He speaks condescendingly or ingratiatingly, depending on status. He tends to pull out a scented handkerchief from his inside his glove and wave it in front of his face if he is displeased. Where to find it: Horizon Wait... Horizon?? Yes. There is a very good chance that this merchant pads his fat wallet more with his sketchy shipping business than his merchant front.
  18. Drinks Type: Booze and non-booze (but mostly booze) Top Shelf Ilsabardian Brandy (limited supply) Reaver's Rum Baron's Choice Whiskey Dragon's Blood Mead Wines Black Vine brand Seiza no Kai Sake Rolanberry Dessert Wine Ales On Tap South Shroud's Best Dark Ale Four Houses Ishgardian Pale Ale VK Special Brew (seasonal) Slick Eft Bogy Root Special Poacher's Notch Mixed Drinks Ifrit's Hellfire Landslide My Fair Lala (contains cactus juice) Pink Subligar The Fury The Squishable Leech Wailer's Delight Wight Skull Ramuh's Beard Non-alcoholic Foundation Chilled Tea Public Knowledge: If you drink... Description: Just a list of brand names and mixed drinks Where to find it: Any bar other than dives
  19. (ok cool. ) The Anthropology of the Remaining Plainsfolk Tribes, Their History, and Potential Integration into Modern Eorzean Society Type: Academic book The Guildmaster interrupted. "Yes, one of the most organized minds here and with such a barbaric upbringing. Quite the change, isn't it?" Ralin bristled. "The Plainsfolk Tribes are not barbaric, sir..." Anderagon turned the book around, displaying a drawn image of tribal warriors swarming and taking down a giant crab. Ralin sighed. The artist had captured the fighters' extensive tattoos and the smeared blood on their bodies with gruesome detail. "Remarkable." He closed the book with a snap and sat down. "You have the tattoos from your youth, yes?" Public Knowledge: Little to none outside of stuffy academic types interested in niche histories and anthropology. There may be ten copies out there. Description: It's not an overly large volume. Perhaps written 40-50 years ago. It contains the usual archaic (read Victorian) idea of transforming an "uncivilized" culture into one more in line with modern, urban society. Where to find it: A few libraries, government offices, and private collections. (Why yes, I do work in academia... why do you ask? >.>;;; )
  20. Hoping I'm understanding this correctly... Historia Eorzea, 22nd edition. Type: Academic book series Alberich Blackblade adjusted his glasses in shock. "Edited by Hahabiri Yayabiri?? That insufferable prig with the overinflated ego?!..." Alberich quickly coughed to hide his outburst. He furiously flipped through more pages. His piece about Amal'jaa migration to Zan'rak was rewritten to be nearly unrecognizable and the articles on Sil'dih mining and commerce were gone completely! The nerve of that fellow... He must still be bitter about being passed over for Department Head by Doctor P'rion Tia. But the Doctor DOES have deeper pockets and many estimable, and more threatening, friends. SURELY, Hahabiri realized he never stood a chance... Public Knowledge: If you've gone for some sort of secondary education, you know of it... and probably dread it. Description: Three volume set of weighty books. Where to find it: Any library of some stature
  21. I like your event idea. A few thoughts I had: What type of crime? Overt? Scheming back alley type? White collar? Are you thinking more Hanna Barbera bad guys or Moriarty or Lecter or Shinra? What would be the reason you guys would be taking over said place? How would you deal with losing? Or winning, for that matter? What would you do with said place? Have you considered partnering up with a couple other FCs to get the word out? Offered yourselves directly to some good aligned FC as a possible rival? I would think posting to the PF that your group had taken over X building would be cool.
  22. Done. Also removed from under the Taverns category.
